That’s my point really, 60k isn’t a lot of gold these days because of inflation. Yet that took me all patch to earn doing boring world quests (which at least I could do in the background while waiting for groups to form). I don’t think it’s healthy for the game that new players are punished because people farmed millions worth of gold from mission tables at the end of WoD and ruined the economy.
I also think it’s extremely scummy and pay to win that Blizzard seems to want to force players to buy WoW tokens to keep up and play the content they actually want to play.
The bottom line for me is I have a limited amount of free times these days and I don’t want to spend it farming herbs or making phials to earn me enough gold to play high level content. I already have a job and I don’t need another one.
I basically raid logged on S1 early stage and just by having herbalism+alchemy and cooking maxed i basically nullified consumables cost.
If you also get the Versatility Alch. Stone you can sell pretty much sell whatever you crafted given that 1 flask lasted me 3 full raid nights.
And i was able to bank up like 600k gold by simply throwing at the AH whatever high priced mats i found.
I remember selling like 1 awakened order for 30k or something like that.
Chance to make gold are there still. They are just less “afk”
This expansion has been more draining, gold wise than any other. The crafting system is to blame. At least my legendaries in Shadowlands didn’t require 13 recrafts.
I know some love this system but I don’t like the profession overhaul. It’s all the ranks and the failures that I’m just not impressed with. It’s just a huge drain of resources.
For years I’ve sat on roughly 1m gold on my main. It’s not an amazing amount but I’ve slowly been whittled down to less than 500k. I was lucky enough to get a BoE in raid recently that sold quickly but I still haven’t managed to get back to my previous comfort zone.
Just a few observations:
- You don’t need to ‘keep up’.
- Others enforcing their views on you, is not okay.
- Don’t accept other people bullying you into submission.
Be the change. Make your own groups that don’t enforce or stimulate such negative behaviour.
I disagree. The players need to change as far as I’m concerned.
They need to understand that enforcing a meta in such an unforgiving way is just not okay behaviour. People shouldn’t stand for it, imo.
I’m not saying you shouldn’t want it; I’m saying you realistically don’t NEED it.
Being okay with less is fine. That’s not a crime.
And if you disagree with that, then I think that WQs should start rewarding mythic BiS items. Because then everyone can be on equal footing.
A crafted item today +13 recraft would still be less than 1 leggos in SL to me.
Which was like 115 k for 1.
Most crafter guarantee rank 4. In SL i was playing with leggos 60 ilvl lower on alts or off specs to save gold.
I can live with 4 ilvl less if i dont feel like paying extra for recraft.
Plus the fact that materials are region wide made price much lower and you really not need to pay 100k+ commissions in AH like some servers had to.
Fair people dont like this system but compared to shadowlands this is 100 time better
Even though most will do recrafts for free, you still have to keep providing the mats, or that arrangement may vary by realm I guess. As does the cost of the materials.
It was only a few recrafts for my weapon but my belt was a hideous number of times and most recently my boots took 13 recrafts. It was far cheaper for me to just buy the legendaries. This expansion is slowly bankrupting me.
Idk most recraft I found rather cheap gold wise. There are expense but i found myself steadily going up this expansion without actually doing something active for goldmaking.
I am not sure why though. Is your crafter considered trustworthy? Are they part of your guild?
For most crafts, unless they did not spend points for that specialization, should be guaranteed rank 4, and guaranteed rank 5 with the use of an inspiration.
If it took them that many tries to upgrade your belt than either their profession skill is low, you did not provide rank 3 materials, or they are not using an insight to guarantee a rank 5.
If it is a random individual you approached from trade chat it is also possible that they do not use an insight so they can farm the materials out of you with resourcefulness procs.
Of course you don’t need to. Nothing in this game needs to be done because it’s a videogame, but having BiS gear is fun and I play games for fun. It simply feels bad to do less DPS than your peers, not because you’re playing worse but because you don’t have as good gear as they do.
Again, is WoW not something we play for fun? Why are we going into it with the mindset of settling for less and gating content? What is at all satisfying or enganging about that?
I actually think your last point brings up something interesting. Is it time to start dropping BiS gear from the content you want to do? I.e., if you want to do have the best gear to Raid that should drop from Raids, and if you want to have the best gear for high Mythic Plus keys that gear should only drop from Mythic Plus.
We currently have something similar at the moment for PvP to stop Raid trinkets from being BiS for them, and it helps to stop players feeling pressured to engage in content they don’t enjoy. I would welcome a similar change for the other types of competive content in the game.
Let me know your thoughts.
He’s a very good crafter and very reliable. It was bad RNG. I don’t like RNG in crafting, it sucks.
Others like this system.
I definitely agree we play for fun. But ‘what is fun’ differs from person to person.
Not only competitive content, honestly. I think it’s more than overdue that world content is treated like the 4th endgame pillar it, imo, should be.
So yes, I definitely would like the best gear to do ‘content X’ should drop from content X.
In fact; I’ve been advocating for such a system for several years already.
I have almost no gold, and I try to get into PvE, but the gold cost of everything is just insane ranging from simply repairing my stuff to buying gear or potions… Not fun…
and this is exactly how P2W started and why so many people do it.
Just toss some money at the game, skip the boring stuff and get into the good stuff much faster
Haha I’m glad we agree on something. I understand what’s fun for one person might not be for another and that’s exactly where my frustrations lie.
I feel forced to engage with professions to earn gold/ the profession crafting system, which I find to be boring. But this goes the other way too, I wouldn’t want anyone who loves the profession system to be forced to raid or play mythic plus for recipe drops if they don’t like that content. To me this is backwards games design and just makes people quit the game.
Auction House in WoW is just like Auction Houses in real life for me. When I sell things go cheap, when I want to buy, things go dear.
Roughly 300.000 gold for a 20 pound, in real currency, token. You want him to spend 100 pounds on digital gear?
You are part of the inflation problem when you buy boosts. I have no respect for people like you. Zero. You ruin the game for others with your antics. I blame blizzard also for being greedy for wanting a cut. Turning a blind eye to boosting for so many years, que’s being infested with ads for years.
I’ll never understood why your Clothes, Accessories, shoes, “Nights out” etc are more valid reasons to spend money than digital things.
How exactly?
Because i want gear easier instead of waiting for someone to accept me into groups?
Because i don’t want to progress a key only for it to go down and down and down because of leavers?
I just buy boosts to jump to a place where i can comfortably play without any problems like that.
I don’t understand this recraft?? I use illustrious insights which almost always guarantees max quality. This is what I charge players for when asking for commission. Not sure why crafters are holding on to mettle. It useless for anything else after you have crafted your max crafting gear. Players who come to me are guaranteed max rank and no need for additional materials. Look me up on silver moon more than happy to help out.
I 100% agree. This is the first time i have ever used a forum in 14 years and to be honest i am seriously considering canceling my account. I love pushing m+ but gold grinding is beyond a bore for me. They have nerfed world quests into the ground, removed mission tables and added crafts in that cost tons. Its not even the crafting cost of paying the crafters, it’s the materials, the recrafts due to it being all based on luck. They are attempting to force you to buy wow takens as several people in here already said buy token. But why the hell should we need to. I have never had to in the past world quests tables covered everything. With the new Enchanted shadowflame stuff it is obviously done with malicious intention by blizzard to force the average player who does not gold farm into buying tokens. The materials for the enchanted shadowflame apects cost 17000+ gold. Not to mention materials for the actual item or the crafting or recrafting. Its disgusting imo that they are doing this with the intention of forcing people to buy the tokens and i doubt i will be the first or last to cancel my sub because of it.
Not to mention nerfing lariet into the ground after everyone spent so much on it to drain our resources even more.
