Just wondering — what’s the long-term plan here?
Are we gonna keep going through the expansions (WoD, Legion, BfA, etc.), basically running a version that’s always a few expansions behind retail?
Or does Classic eventually merge with retail?
Or does it all just stop with MoP?
It would be great if Blizzard could make this clear before MoP ends. Knowing what direction the devs are taking would really help players plan ahead — especially if a merge with retail is going to happen at some point.
Because if that’s the case, people might miss out on time-limited rewards like Challenge Mode sets or Mage Tower appearances when expansions end. That would honestly be a shame — and probably cause a lot of frustration if players lose their chance simply because nothing was officially announced by Blizzard.
And if the plan instead is to keep Classic running as a parallel version a few expansions behind retail, that would also be great to know. I think many of us would probably step away from retail completely and start investing more seriously into our Classic characters if we knew that’s the long-term direction.
Personally, I don’t mind whether Classic ever merges with retail or not. I just hope we keep progressing to the next expansions. Even if Classic stays a few expansions behind retail, that’s totally fine with me.
But if it does end with MoP, that’s also something players deserve to know — so we can decide how much time and effort we want to put into our characters before it’s all over.
Either way, it’d be really nice to have a clear statement from Blizzard before MoP wraps up, so everyone has a fair chance to plan ahead and enjoy the game without missing out.
