Enemy name plates disappearing when I look at them

Hi, I recently was doing a m+ dungeon when I noticed some how my enemy hp bars had disappeared. It seems to happen gradually based on where my character is looking. For example if an NPC is to my left I can see the bar, if I turn my character to face them, the bar goes upwards while turning until it’s gone. I turned all my addons off and I still got this problem which is a very big issue when trying to know how many enemies have been pulled and trying to figure out what spells to use!

I don’t recognize exactly which cvar (setting) change that indicates, but it’s obviously one of the nameplate-related CVars.

If you install the Advanced Interface Options addon, it has a CVar Browser settings-page. If you search for “nameplate” in there, it will list all nameplate-related cvars, it highlights which ones are non-default, tells you their default value, and allows you to change them.

That would be my first stop.

ps: You don’t have to keep the addon around after fixing your problem, all CVars are build-in wow settings, the addon just provides a more user-friendly way of changing them.

Great advice, I checked the nameplate settings, i think i figured out which one it was so I went to turn ElvUI on (an addon I usually turn off) and checked to see if I could modify it. In short I couldn’t figure out how to modify it in ElvUI however I noticed the behaviour I wanted had returned. I turned off ElvUI and it’s now working as intended with neutral and enemy HP bars no longer flying away!
Thanks for the advice on where to look, I also modified the files to match my alt characters nameplate settings although I can confirm this did not help. In short, now resolved ty

Cool , nice work
