That’s annoying.
Yes, I know that it’s reference behaviour. But it’s just stupid and illogical.
We can see enemy MP but can’t see enemy HP. For what?
Just thinking about ways to implement it as add-on.
For example, we targeting enemy with 100% HP.
After we hit an enemy, for example, with autoattack for 300 HP and now enemy has 95% HP.
Using that, we can calculate that 5% HP is 300, and 100% HP approx. 6000.
Caveats: someone else may hit an enemy, and it seems that “All” combat log is unavailable in TBC.
There used to be an addon that did exactly that but for every mob in classic called RealMobHealth or something like that but Blizzard banned it and allowed clients to see the exact health of mobs (but not players) so I doubt you can make an addon that would work now.
If I recall correctly, it created a lot of extra chat stress.
As noted earlier, you can’t see other players’ actions, so all that could be done is to have a hidden channel where your addon broadcasts your actions so that your raid members’ addons can pick them up.
Realistically, I don’t see why this is a big problem either way.
The only significant information you can gain is knowing the creature health before attacking, but that’s most relevant during single player activities. Other than that, who cares, it’s 19%. I can even make easier math seeing percentages, although I guess I could quickly adapt to health left as well (how many hits I need).
Not that I’m very clear about that, maybe it’s about party vs raid, as Recount is perfectly functional.
Not sure if they ever gave an exact reason but it’s kind of understandable that they didn’t like this hacky way of figuring out information you were not supposed to have.
Playing Frost Mage and I have a rough understanding how much my spells do - relatively. My HoW is Fire Blast, which does a little less compared to Frostbolt. Seeing that my Frostbolt is doing 15% per hit, I can use it at around 10%, risk it at 12%, or also hope for a crit anyway.
If my HoW doesn’t kill the enemy I can just continue I guess. A judge, or a melee.
Then again, I’m not the kind of player that goes to the edge so much
Not to mention that last spell might get (partially) resisted. That’s the beauty of WoW - you must be prepared!
again: you and enemy both on 10% HP, if you use HoW and it won’t kill him, enemy may kill u.
if you know exact enemy HP and approx. damage of your HoW, and it may be not enough to kill, it’s better to use bubble.
that’s why you must think about spell penetration in pvp
if addon wants to share some information with other players who also have this addon – yes, it does
but idk why RealMobHealth needs it
and again: there is nothing about hacks and tricks.
knowledge of enemy hp may help to make a more profitable decision in some situations.
you also can do some calculations in your head in real-time.
just the same as with Gladius addon – knowledge of enemy’s trinket cooldown may help you (but maybe not), and you can try to remember it in your head, but addon just make it easier.
