Is it true that engineering goggles won’t get any upgrades in later phases and will always be ilvl 200, in contrary to how they had upgrades in tbc, making engineering basically useless?
i dont think anything is set ins tone just yet.
So you want to buff one of the best professions in the game because it lacks in one department? The tinkers is where the true power of engineering is not in the goggles after phase 1
Engineering is huge in arena? What you talking about?
They are great
Except engineering is nerfed in arena.
Rocket boots don’t work.
Rocket gloves share a cooldown with EVERY other similar effect (wasn’t the case in WOTLK)
Gnomish Lightning Generator does half the damage it did at release and as mentioned, activates rocket gloves cooldown.
Blizzard decided engineering was too strong during WOTLK and banned most of it in arena - and that happened retroactively in TBC classic where those items didn’t work (which significantly altered the balance of professions).
What are you talking about? Hand mounted pyro rocket did 1035 to 1265 damage until patch 3.1.2 and had a one minute cooldown until patch 3.2.0. Now we got the final version that deals 1654 to 2020 with 45sec cooldown. The hand mounted pyro rocket right now deals 213% of the damage it originally did in 3.0.x. Blizzard didnt bother to address that at all, but the profession is completely busted pvp wise, because we have the scaling of the final patch.
engineering nerfed lul
Yeah, that was abit of an letdown. But i do have fun with the boots in bg.
What is other similar effects? I had a 2.5k crit the other day in arena with them, which works nice with ele burst. Maybe the gloves arent bis for everyone, but if 3 people combine rockets in 3’s they can do some nifty plays.
yeah, i remember when they banned the belt from tbc for instance. It did affect the meta, which i kinda liked.
I am aware that not everything is as it was in OG wotlk. But i just find it funny that some people complain about 1 detail about a profs in a PvE setting, when you can have alot of fun with it in pvp settings.
1000 to 1600 isn’t 214% increased damage. Or are you arguing DPS average across a minute in PVP? Cause I’m fairly sure haste gloves are better DPS if you want to go down that route. This doesn’t even take into account the shared cooldown and 50% reduction in GLG damage (which i believe the rocket gloves buff was intended to offset, which is laughable because it’s off by a factor of 5)
Anyone with an ounce of PVP experience, in any game ever, understands that mobility is the single strongest mechanic - and that’s not even debateable. The only thing that comes close is CC. Rocket boots not working is the single biggest nerf engineering could ever have gotten.
Nitro boots were originally nerfed after 1 month of original season 5 (from 5 to 3 seconds) because they were that overpowered, that Blizzard had to take action immediately. Since they were still far too overpowered even with the nerf, they got completely removed between season 5 and season 6. The nitro boots version we have right now was live for 1 month of original wotlk.
And yes, it was 214% overall more dmg (cooldown included) but still 160% of the original damage, or in other words, 60% more damage and that with a lower cooldown.
While I agree that the 10sec cd share that came in 3.1.0 is a nerf, the end patch hand mounted pyro rocket outweighs this change significantly. Compared to original 3.0.x engineering is definitely nerfed, but that is only because it was originally totally busted and by far the best pvp profession. Right now its still the best pvp profession, but only by a slight margin.
Yes, it’s true unless they make further changes to classic.
The plate dps ones are worse than the upgraded TBC ones from Sunwell.
I said engineering was the most nerfed profession, you’ve kinda just confirmed that.
The only thing engineers get is the goggles… which aren’t BiS for PVP… and the rocket gloves, which is 1600 damage because you can’t stack GLG with it, its effectively half the effectiveness.
So the “engineering is bis” is based entirely on 1 thing: a 1600 damage rocket every 45 seconds. This is compared to every other profession getting significant stat upgrades.
Engineering isn’t PVP bis. It’s PVE bis because of the goggles, haste gloves (which just got nerfed in the first week of the expansion) and arguably bombs.
Haste gloves haven’t been nerfed per se, people weren’t expecting to use double gloves anyway. So their effectiveness isn’t lessened, they’re still bis lol. They were just gonna be brokenly insane and the best profession by giga miles if that interaction didn’t get nerfed
The rocket gloves are actually sick in PvP, them being used at the right time are worth more than any sub 100 stat increase you would get from any other profession. We’ve already seen countless clips of people doing insane burst with multiple rocket gloves going off to land a kill
Rocket boots should never be in arena. Engineering is good enough of a pvp profession without it

engineering basically useless?
Engineering is the best profession in wrath regardless of goggles. Easily
The engi head is just as much as a profession bonus as jc or alch trinkets. Its profession restricted, but the items themselves were never designed to be best in slot. Profession bonuses were designed to be around +40 main-stat (some are effectively 3.0 patch, others are 3.3 and therefore slightly stronger). Some are different, like engi can burst with rocket, herb can heal, but all are quite similar in power. Design wise there should never be a profession highly outperforming others, like engi did early original wotlk. It was not better, it was incomparably overpowered compared to the other professions. Now its “nerfed”, but still the best pvp profession, since having burst available is much more impactful than minimal overall dps increase.
Wish they at least gave us a way of transforming any head slot item into goggles for the visuals, passive steam cloud detection, and on-use effect.
Honestly opt-in transmog should have been a thing with wrath classic. All wrath pservers that people love to cream over have transmog. I can understand the arguments against transmog but seriously, an opt in system pleases both audiences
Don’t want to see transmog? You never will, default setting
If you want to transmog and see other peoples transmog, opt-in and customize your character. Wear your favourite set, escape the clown suit. Embrace fashion
I think the game you’re looking for is Barbie Fashion Designer.
have fun.

passive steam cloud detection
This isn’t on the helmet in WotLK, but on the extractor.
