Sub price existed for Vanilla, which is where this game comes from Hairy. In fact, you had to buy the original game then subscribe… Same for TBC. The price was already paid, is all.
Ye i know i played then, I was just making the point to somebody who said that there retail sub paid for the development of classic even if they didnt ever play classic.
They took money we paid for subs and used part of that to develop Classic. We funded a lot of things this way. Hearthstone, etc. WoW has been a donor for a long time now. Most of what Blizzard have now, most of their experiments, the games that are failing, have been funded by us.
Yes I understand that but it is a business at the end of they day and all businesses use money they have to develop new products that’s how it is…not saying I agree with charging for boosts or not it doesn’t bother me as in no way do I have to buy any of these extras at all and I wont be buying any boost for classic but I will be playing it
I was worried that Blizzard would miss the opportunity to give everyone what they want- more paid for mounts / items. The TBC experience will be so much better for it, obviously…

Surely the popularity of Classic and PServers belies this fact. The people that want to play this game know there is never going to be new content added to the game and yet are still, supposedly, willing to pay a monthly sub to blizz in order to play.
Personally, I am happy to continue playing as long as I find the game fun to play, which I do. As soon as it stops being fun I will stop playing but for me new content isn’t why I sub.
£35 for a boost vs 2weeks of your life grinding a char to getting to lvl 58 to get into the portal =NOBRAIBER!
If you don’t have the time or will to play classic wow but wanna play tbc… For that reason its even a FAIR price that people will spend readily… May be a cash grab but its kinda required unless you want them to make the lvl’ing process easier… WHICH WOULD BE THE WORST THING EVER!!!
edit- Just wish you could buy em seperately tho, the deluxe without the boost
I really don’t get this argument. Or at least I don’t get what I think this argument is about.
I quite like certain soups but I dislike other soups, yet the money I pay to Heinz goes into them researching and developing soups that I may not like. Why should Blizzard be treated any differently to Heinz in this respect?
I mean are there really any other companies out there that don’t use money from their succesful IP’s in order to develop other IPs that may not be as popular or as good as the one lots of people pay for?
Yes, using money from game A to develop games B and C is normal. And it would all have been fine if WoW prospered. The problem is, WoW went downhill a lot. So there is a natural bitterness in them using money brought by WoW to fund other games, because maybe if they used that money to make WoW better it would not have declined.
Sorry but how the hell is this actually a valid argument or comparison? Lmao.
You must be joking if you think that makes sense.
Let’s deduct your soups.
Are you paying money on a monthly basis for these soups? One thing you forgot to mention already that WoW is subscription based and that the soups you bought, you own. So ofcourse, you already got value for your money’s worth and at that point I don’t care if they took that money and put it in another soup. I got mine already.
But let’s say that they DO charge you montly for the soup.
And suddenly they start charging you extra ingredients on top that give more flavor.
But not only are they doing that, they’re actively giving you less amount of soup each month and the quality of the soup also goes down.
There’s your comparison bro, hope it helps because what you wrote out is a big joke.
The point is that once you’ve handed over your money you really don’t get a say in how that money is spent. You do get a say in if you wish to give money to said company but you nit in what is done with it.
In my soup analogy I am still paying money monthly to get sent more soup. If they choose to reduce the amount and quality of the soup that I get for my money then I have to make a conscious decision if what I am receiving is still worth my money or not. If I think it is still worth my money then I will continue to pay the monthly fee for my soup, if I don’t think it is worth it I will withhold my money and no longer receive soup from that company. I may even decide that the soup being sold by a competitor is more value for money and buy some of theirs in stead.
Unless I stop paying money for soup I cannot stop the company using my money to develop other soups no matter if the quality of the soup is going downhill or not.
Or you could voice your opinion and your anger aimed towards the soup company.
But you negated the part of microtransactions though.
Would you still be okay if they made you charge money for the soup, but charged extra for ingrediants that were supposed to be part of the soup?
Let’s go further down in the food analogy.
Instead of using 4 tomatos to produce the soup you like. They instead use 3, and on top of that, they start demanding that you pay up for the 4th one if you want it so badly through a shop incorporated through the soup business.
I think your argument and comparison would hold more ground this way. But I can see why you simplified it so much because now I think even you must see that Microtransactions from a subscriber based game is actively withholding content from the players that pay to have access to your game and charging them extra for it.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk hombre.
Because many of us, myself included, have already paid good money for the original game expansions and extras and not only that but for every expansion that came out I paid twice, one for myself and one for my son plus our monthly fees. This I truly am sickened by. Why can’t they at least offer a discount to all their trusted old school members who have in good faith stuck by them and bought every damn thing since day dot!!! Oh including game time mounts pets you name it and for me yes that’s times two . Absolutely sickened by this.
We can always try and delist the thread with enough inappropriate content xD
I assume that would merely result in Blizzard purging the entire comment section and then locking the thread with the original message intact.
LETS BURN THE FORUMS DOWN!

Yes, winter is coming (ok weekend, but it still applies)
We get it, you hate microtransactions.
Like, reallyyyyy hate them.
Care to talk about it some more?
Ofcourse. I don’t necesarily hate microtransactions. I truly think they’re a good model implemented for games that are free to play.
But I absolutely LOATHE them when they get snuck in games that you paid money for to play or are subscription based.
Now you might say “b-but Final Fantasy”
I never gave a rat’s butt about that game. I do not care for it. I don’t find it appealing and frankly the moment I heard that it was subscription based ontop of the huge amount of MTX added, that game was a big no for me.
I do not know why people are okay with this behavior of corporations. Yes I hate them when the company charges you money on top for access and also charges you money for the expansion.
And as with the anecdotal evidence we can all clearly see, the game hasn’t improved. It has gotten worse. Players are leaving en masse. The game has been recycling the same system since Legion, a system most of the playerbase loathes.
But do you know what improved though? The store mounts.
Ofcourse they were “free”. FREE oh but there was one catch, you had to buy 6 months of gametime ahead. People defended Blizzard’s marketing scheme, some of the people we can still see defend Blizzard, defend and support their obvious marketing scheme, saying it was free. It was not.
They think the majority of the playerbase is this stupid and naive to believe that your average player consistently plays for 6 months ahead.
It’s a farce, it’s a marketing ploy. It’s straight up lying that it’s free.
Same as some people are twisting that the mounts are free because they are a reward from the deluxe version.
Soon, the loyal whales are left in their circle clique with that attitude though. Cause everyone but the most blind and delusional can see Blizzard is just straight up greedy.
there is a reason why the amount of Store Mounts released during BfA alone were almost the same number as the amount of store mounts spanning from wotlk to Legion but the game hasn’t improved one bit and they keep recycling the same old garbage systems because why bother being innovative and improving when you can half butt it and throw some MTX and make a profit anyway?
