Not the point. Already discussed above. Whataboutism. Also (as stated above) the “wasnt available back then” gets thrown out of the window considering 99% of the stuff wasnt part of the original.
Thats one take. People can still point out their criticism towards it considering Classic Vanilla and TBC Classic are both intended to let you keep relive the past. Transferring a char without cloning forces you to relevel again in the already existing memory version of the game where you already had leveled this character. So if you want to enjoy both times you have to relevel in at least one. And unlike realm/faction changes have no valid reason this time to justify it (realm/faction changes were at least argued with the reason to prevent unnecessary realm collapses/changes 24/7). To prevent some shenanigans they could just either give every account a limit for cloning (like 2 chars at max and then by all means charge for it. Or 2 per year) or after a char got cloned he gets locked permanently from another cloning and if shenanigans are tried to be done by exploiting some gold just bann them across classic and retail etc.
Totally going to want a free extra service for selfish reasons for my level 19 warlock and level 21 Warrior because thats going to work so much into my favor cough
Play it like it launched, pay nothing extra, and spare me teh whinging.
Let’s face it, if you only have a lvl19 Warlock and lvl21 Warrior, we are going to have to listen to you making the exact same complaints for Classic Wrath, when your characters are lvl38 and lvl42.
just realized this is gettin more than 300 posts and 6 likes so yeah, i guess gettin shoo’d at ur convention wasnt enough. ha bli$$ard, i knew u liked it rough but like that my my
Not sure what everyone’s problem is tbh.
I’ll be using the boosts. I stopped playing classic because all alliance transferred off my pvp server and now it is dead. I didn’t want to go through the whole levelling process again but hearing that I could do that whole catch up on a fresh server and be ready to play in TBC, I’m in for that.
I can see the points you trying to make but for me I see these more as a player issue than a design issue. We were all a lot newer to the game back during those periods and thus those experiences are all the more vivid for it.
There are, in my opinion, still some epic questlines being introduced even in the newer expansions. The full Suramar campaign being one that immediately springs to mind from recent years. That I think rival anything from the original three.
I played Classic for a bit and to be honest there just wasn’t the same feeling as Vanilla even with a faction change especially to try and regain a bit of the old nostalgia back.
I never have problems with super low level dungeons, but as you go higher it does get worse. Leveling on 5 different servers and had issues trying to get full groups for dungeons in the 30’s and 40’s on every one.
I strongly dislike both boosting and GDKP being so prevalent in classic, not to mention the summon everywhere stuff. But it’s prevalent because sadly enough players like that sort of thing in their game, even though I don’t even if both options help gold sellers immensely and make botting more prevalent/profitable and also make getting normal groups for the content harder to come by.
From what I understand you can do that for free. You can port a character from Classic to Classic:TBC for free but then you lose that characetr on the Classic realm. What they are charging you for is cloning your character so you have access to them on both Classic and Classi:TBC.
I also beleive that the boost to 58, not 60, is a once per account deal for those that don’t wish to lose their current main on Classic.
I am not sure if I am for this or not but it isn’t quite as dire you think.
Getting HotS and HS goodies didn’t stop me from buying wow xpacks, that’s just a negligible bonus. Especially in this case as you’ll get BC toys, a boost and a mount… As well as a retail mount altho you’re already paying for retail as well
What surprises me the most is that no one is complaining about having a classic mount in the shop, I clearly remember threads about that kind of thing back in the classic alpha but I guess folks are more concerned about the price tag than they are about how Blizz is bringing shop mounts in classic.
Completely agree with that tho.
It’s especially funny that a BC boost costs 40€ and a retail one 60 altho you’ll spend twice as long leveling in BC than sl at the very least.
Gotta milk 'em dry I guess. It feels like these BC boosts will sell like candies
At best you’ll get two toys and two mounts for 17$, that’s if you intent to use a boost in the first place.
Tying a boost to that bundle just doubled the price, and that’s actually kinda smart as the part of the playerbase which would’ve been interested in a boost in the first place is usually also the one interested in shop mounts.
I dislike the move but I also expect it to be very profitable for Blizz.
Why is it? If you are a classic only player and are now paying $70 instead of (lets say $50) because you are paying for a retail mount that you’ll never even redeem. As for Hots stuff etc, that annoyed me too but I never felt the bundle was not worth it for the WoW content alone.
I might be wrong but I can imagine $70 for just the TBC content is not value for money.
If we assume that a shop mount cost ~20$ and that toys are free then the retail mount is free too tho (40€ boost 13€ sub 17€ BC mount) so technically they don’t.
That’s merely a “try our other products” bonus just like the d3/OW/HotS/HS skins or other digital stuff included in basically all Blizzard products imo.
Well thankfully that’s merely a boost and some cosmetics and in no way the price tag of BCC.
Is that far too high ? Yeah of course, but that’s purely optional so it falls in the same category than the previously mentioned goodies
BCC will at best be free or at worse cost 13€ per month depending on whether you play retail, which is sensible enough.
I would’ve complained about it if they made us pay 35€ to “upgrade” our classic accounts to bcc accounts just like 15y ago, but they didn’t
I am completely fine with adding something like this to the current patch, but adding smth like this to classic? A lot of people who play classic play it to avoid it or at least they shun these things. I thought you were aware of this since it’s your game after all but either I am wrong or too naive to admit to myself that you simply don’t care about the community one bit anymore and only care about the cash you get from it (I am not saying they should not care about the money but still as game developers they should have at least somewhat of an interest in how people perceive these decisions). Well guess what, a couple more decisions like this could cost you more money than it’s going to make you since you are going to just disgust so many people you are going to lose out on subscriptions in the long run, this comment section speaks for itself I think, no need to add anything else, I am just sad that the thing I was worried about already started happening… Because I am pretty sure there will be more; just please Blizzard listen this time, don’t overdo it because I know you probably will; the pass and deluxe edition isn’t as big of a deal as what could possibly come next; as I’ve said the deluxe edition and pass aren’t as bad by themselves as what they represent and what could potentially follow after them, for me personally it’s a huge red flag; I am somewhat fine with what the boost actually does, especially cuz of the fact it’s only one per account, I am just worried that this is the sign that a lot more is to come and it’s going to be a lot “worse”.
