Enhancement Shaman in WotLK

In their current state, Enhancement Shamans are going to be using “caster” Main-hands for the rest of the expansion (Even for single-target! Swapping to a physical Windfury MH was just a P2 anomaly).

  • So, for 90% of the Expansion (The entirety of P1, P3, P4, P5, and many P2 encounters) we use FT and Spellpower Mainhands. The signature Enhancement Shaman weapon imbue - Windfury - is not
v̶i̶a̶b̶l̶e̶ optimal for most of WotLK. Is this intended?

  • Because of this, many other caster items are also going to be BiS (so not only weapons) due to the lack of high ilvl non-armorpen mail pieces, continuing to make itemisation a pain, and creating more confusion and loot drama (especially since Enhancement Shaman sits at the bottom of ICC dps sims, so it will be even more difficult to justify taking highly contested caster items).

  • Blizzard made it clear that Enhancement was designed with Windfury and slow physical weapons as the goal. There are even posts from 2009 that confirm this.

We’d like to know if Blizzard is aware of this unintended gameplay/itemisation, and if they see this as a problem.

Potential solutions are many, lots of suggestions are being thrown around (e.g. WF Glyph removing the ICD, and so on), but ultimately we’d just appreciate some communication and confirmation that the team is aware of the state of this spec and how it plays out throughout the expansion.

Cheers

Agreed. As other classes are getting glyphs to tackle their issues I think removing the ICD on WF with a glyph makes most problems go away
