Classic was a very good lesson for Activision and current playerbase to take and learn from that.
As everyone witnessed , there is a huge amount of people in the playerbase who find the current state of the game , beyond retarded .
From Class Design to Gear Up mechanics.
Maybe they can fix multiple aspects of the game in the next patch or in the next expansion if we are lucky.
If they will not and if they will continue to cannibalise class abilities , gearing up methods along with RNG lootboxes , then i believe in a matter of years , weâll have a TBC revamp just like it happened with Classic.
There you gonna witness what does âDivideâ means in the playerbase.
Classic is just the warmup imo.
Because in the end , retail is more profitable compared to Classic with its Shop and services i believe.
And maybe there are hundreds of thousads players , enjoying Classic atm , but if Activision will keep up raping retail , the players who will leave , are not gonna come back.
Im not sure if WoW can stand alone with Classic only if retail dies.
Classic is a healthy addition and a beacon of light that proves that many things need to get back to former days.
Is it not more a case of âpeople were so sick of the current game that they would prefer to play the old version than just quit?â. Wasnât there a study done to show that people would prefer to inflict self-harm than do nothing at all?
Well, Iâm sure the threshold of which has been turned into a data algorithm and bought by Blizzard et al.
Anyway, Iâm a long fan of vanilla but I think the current situation is a tad pathetic, and highlights were we are as a race. I mean if weâre satisfied to pay and do something that we could have done for years (only a few years ago) yet strangely when we had that option we didnât bother (strange that eh?) but then when itâs removed (rebranded/repackaged) and re-released we flock in droves, is this not depressing? Oh, and donât forget (when you log into classic) to go out of your way to be nice to people just to falsely convince everyone that the social aspect of vanilla was much better (which it was - but only due to the context) aaaand you want to convince those retail players who switched to classic that you were right! Gotta convince put the boot into retail (the new enemy), right?
I mean I understand that there may be a lot of people who never played vanilla and thatâs fine, by all means enjoy the game, but for those who returned and are somehow convincing themselves that itâs amazing (again) just doesnât wash.
The end game in vanilla is just as poor as I remember it, a lot of waiting around, afking outside cities or duelling. If youâve already done your weekly content.
Given how WOW works I find it unbelievable that people can do it all again (again) and say itâs great (but this time it is!!!). I think for any rational human being there are moments that make up the enjoyment and those moments would rarely constitute grinding, so it would more probably be larger events like PVP battles or Boss kills or that good old last piece of Lawbringer that finally dropped (only 56 runs). But when you do it again (again) surely it doesnât hold the same weight of enjoyment, right? Then add the social dilution/recession that has naturally occurred over the last 15 or so years, or whatever time passed since you first played and there is even more reason not to be as excited/satisfied. So, for people to tell me they think its amazing (again), I just donât fully believe it. Itâs like someone telling me that a Pac-man is being released in itâs original format and the local arcade now has it. Iâm sorry but even if all my friends told me to get down and the world was watching it still would not and could not undo what Iâve done, what Iâve experienced, these thing could not suddenly make the game fresh and exciting again so I wouldnât be flocking down to play it because I know itâs not the same as when I first did it and it doesnât matter what global focus is on it because for me the game had itâs time and already provided with the necessary joy it could, but the reality is that itâs gone, fun extrapolated and the tedium of repetitious patterns overwhelmingly more apparent that it negates the desire to play.
So, given this context, when everyone is running around ranting about classic I do find it a tad sad that as a human race itâs taken this little to keep us grinding away in our little bubbles rather than doing something different, something new.
Then add to this the sickening drive for people to be first at doing things, itâs like we canât just enjoy something at a natural pace, oh no we have to super-consume it whereby we do it x100 times quicker, harder, faster and stronger. With everyone watching yet I canât help but feel that itâs not even providing genuine satisfaction for the people doing this, I mean donât you miss the point of anything when you simply feel the need to rush to the end?
Itâs both sad and sickening.
Just have the courage to admit/say âWow is boring and so Iâm going to stop.â and then do that. Youâll be 10 times the human for it.
Iâm suprised how much classic actually affected me, i play less and less every day because guild is always empty and pretty much no one i usually do stuff in game with is playing retail at the moment and i have no desire to play classic at all.
I think Classic is an opportunity for Blizzard to see what worked in the old ways of doing things, and what didnât. No game is perfect, not even Classic. However, Retail is in serious need of some kind of revitalization. Sometimes, it may be helpful to take a peek into the past and gain a little perspective.
Since Classic is running on modern infrastructure, you can bet that Blizzard has much more advanced data-collection techniques built in to it, and will be aggregating that data. This should prove invaluable, as they will now have a better vision of how players are interacting with Classic in order to make informed decisions about the direction of Retail.
I think its quite random to say that even with the best retail expansion people will never come back.
Maybe we have to wait and see.
And btw , 95% of my friendlist suddenly came alive with the release of Classic.
Im literally the only âretardâ who plays retail even if im getting constant 24/7 replies from everyone to start Classic with them.
Problem is not the age or the nostalgia .
Nostalgia maybe helps but a lot of people find Classic way more rewarding compared to this semi mobile game we have at retail atm.
I do not think having Classic is killing or dividing the community. The divide was already there before Classic came out because most of the people who hated retail WOW were Classic purists who wanted it back.
I have actually seen more people in retail WOW since Classic has launched, so maybe they are making usage of the sub they have to pay to access Classic WOW.
Rereleasing retro games is nothing new. Classic Runescape is doing well and even Nintendo has released old consoles and games to record sales. Companies do not care as long as they make money, the same goes for Blizzard.
As for new content, retail WOW was never the type of game where you had new content every month, I expect the next patch in October, with 8.3 in January or a bit later and 8.3.5 next summer with 9.0 next August or September.
It didnât divide. Now itâs the hype month. So for now, division is to be expected. Soon enough people who are interested will play both. And those who arenât interested, werenât interested in the first place.
OH NO. A WEEK PASSED SINCE CLASSIC AND NO NEW CONTENTâ>>>> BLIZZARDâS NOW LAZY.
Yes! If blizz wants to continue wow, then they should remaster WoW with UE4 engine, and make retail wow apart of classic with some minor changes to the gameplay.
So, the WoW remaster will have a different playstyle and world to explore because of UE4. The world will look beautiful and stunning, the dungeons, raids and PvP will all be new and refreshing for players. The game itself will be on par with other Top MMORPGâs.
But this requires alot of hardwork and Money for blizzard to implement such things.( especially, the latter) So, i donât think itâs going to happen, for the blizzard today are different.
oh relax, everyone knew classic would be empty in a month and lamented the loss of resources wasted on it. Everyone knows the problems of bfa and have told actiblizz what the problems are with it. If they release a new old expansion, the exact same thing will happen. They will keep doing it once players keep going âooo new old stuff oooo ooâ and then a month later go âwhat a waste of resources, these rose tinted glasses are brokenâ.
They know what to do to fix it for the next expansion. whether they do or not, is up to them and their paying customers to reward or punish them.
I am playing both currently, and I think both have positives but a lot of negatives. I wish they could take the positives from both games and eliminate or at least reduce the negatives and make a good new expansion.
