Error #154 (0x8510009a) on Mac OS Catalina since patch - WoW Classic SoM

Trying to play SoM and experiencing this error. I have downloaded and reinstalled Battle.net and tried checking permissions, nothing has worked.
Running Mac OS Catalina on a mid 2012 13" Macbook Pro.

I am also getting this:

The CAS system was unable to initialize: Client Handler: initialization error: failed fetching the CDN configuration file

and a whole heap of

tact::ClientHandler::CreateFailed:E_IO_ERROR[20220211T12:59:90] {39395} INF: adding network address 137.221.64.2:80 for server http: / / eu.cdn. blizzard.com /

this stuff goes on for a whole screen.(Spaces inserted because I can’t insert links in this post).

I have turned firewall off temporarily and still have these errors.

Update #!: It has now gone back to

Whoops! Looks like something broke. Give it another shot.Error Code: BLZBNTAGT00000BB8

I am trying to complete the update for WoW retail before updating WoW Classic and SoM. None of them will update now, and I get this error for all of them.

I have tried all the steps in this article. I have also reinstalled Battle.net.

It would really help if the apps gave meaningful errors rather than gibberish codes. It’s really hard trying to find any information at all on what is going on.

Update 2: after reinstalling Battle.net for the third time, Classic and TBC have patched, and Retail WoW is still downloading. Classic is back to giving Error 154 when launched. I have run the repair tool already and no joy.

Update 3: Fully patched retail WoW, still getting BLZBNTAGT00000BB8 when launching from Battle.net and Error 154 when launching directly from the binary.

I have been unable to access the game since p3 SoM and it was running absolutely fine before then.

The error messages indicate a potential communication breakdown between the computer and our servers, but due to the way MacOS is built this may also be the result of permissions in the local user profile in the operating system not being set correctly (or having become corrupted).

This article covers how to extract a .SPX systemlog from macOS. Please attach the result to a ticket, and send it our way if you’d like us to take a look at it - we would very likely be able to narrow things down further from the data contained within.

Thank you so much - that was exactly what was going on. I had a ticket open, and had several people respond but the last person, Technical Specialist Rinadar, suggested that I do the following. I will post their exact instructions just in case anyone who is new to Mac is encountering this problem:

1) Open finder, or go to folder option in menu (or Shift+command+G)
2) type:
~/Applications/World of Warcraft/Data
3) Select the folder and Choose File > Get Info >
4) Expand the Sharing and Permissions section by clicking the arrow
5) If the lock at the bottom right is locked, click it to unlock the Get Info options, then enter an administrator name and password.
6) Click on each user or group in the Name column, then choose the Read & Write setting from the pop-up menu.
7) Use small circle with dots to apply that permissions to all enclosed items: https://support.apple.com/en-euro/guide/mac-help/mchlp1203/mac

The other possibility was network issues, but my connection was running smoothly at the time.

Posting this so that if it happens to any other Mac users, there is a solution in the forums

Why can’t the Scan & Repair feature fix this???
