Oh yeah, ofc. I meant more that certain kind of entitled pride that makes people think they’re above others. But it’s good to have general pride in your community, like you said.
But I haven’t seen it in there myself, so don’t know if it’s true. But even so, again it’s not really a big deal.
For the most part it’s WoW refugees convincing themselves they did the right choice jumping ship and finding their new home. To those who genuinely feel that, I feel happy that you found your niche. To those who feel the need to continuously go on about how much better ESO is and how you’re so over WoW and its drama (but still follow it closely) – you’re still in the honeymoon phase.
ESO RP has loads of drama and toxicity, but with the way it’s structured, the average person isn’t exposed to it as much. Pretending it’s a holy grail of RP where there is no bad RP at all is being willfully ignorant to the actual history of the community and the numerous dumpster fires of drama that raged on behind the scenes. I’d even go as far as to say that there was a time period when ESO had the worst community for RP because of the toxic OOC politics – but I would also argue that to no longer be the case in the year of our lord 2022.
There’s tons of problems if you know where to look for it, but there’s also good to be found. To paint the entire community for it seems redundant, because such a broad classification objectively doesn’t apply to everyone in it – be that WoW refugees dumping on Argent Dawn’s community for being bad (which they invariably were once part of and contributed to) or people from AD looking at ESO.
In many ways it’s like Stormwind, or Dalaran. There is RP, and some of it’s good. Some of it is also bad. Take a look for yourself and find the people you like. Only you can decide if it’s worth it, and ultimately the opinion of others will inherently be subjective.
and to the person in LoN asking who Telaryn is, you either know it or you don’t
Cant disagree with this take at all from my own experience in ESO, there are some toxic individuals, there are some huge dumpster fires of drama, there are some incredibly disturbing/perverted individuals, but man you get that on AD too! you get that on Swtor aswell…and in Lotr, ESO is a great place for anyone who wants to delve into those themes(The Elder Scrolls themes/factions), there is a sense of structure there with LoN more than there was before LoN, is it perfect? no…what is perfect? can anyone name a perfect community/game rp setting? I very much doubt it, its not as large as AD as is nowhere basically but it 100% lends to fun enviroments for people into that stuff, housing is dope, the setting is dope, loads about it is, there is pro’s and cons to every community, and ESO is no stranger to that, if you love Elder Scrolls games, ESO is a great place to dip your toes n find some like minded buddies n engage in some adventurers both OOC and IC and also with One Tamriel, there is no real restrictions regarding factions when it comes to rp, everyone can rp with eachother and make it work, regardless of race/faction, alot of the in lore factions that ppl do rp as a part of arent a part of the faction wars anyhow, theres something for anyone.
Lol I was basically the opposite coming to wow, dont get me wrong I rate WoWs easier to find rp as “greener pastures” buuuut, I do miss -alot- of things from ESO, mainly being able to sprint, and being able to tp to anyone/anywhere insanely easy, oh yeah and werewolfs, ww’s > worgen imo, oh and the Outfit Station > Transmogs all day long, not even close, you can enjoy aspects of many games without being some kinda “Im a wow guy” or “im now an ESO guy” ect, most games excel eachother in a few ways, as much as I play wow now, wow does lame in some aspects compared to other mmo’s.
I tried to RP in ESO back in the day, it is an isolative buble RP, no immersion, every guild has it own rules, everybody plays like nobody else exists. Not my type of thing. Eso RP has a huge potential with that Housing systems and cool cities, but meh, players mentality - “I want to ignore others, we gonna play together in a small group with super OP mages and we don’t care about the rest”.
Pity, what a waste… I bet there are good guilds, but yet still - isolative.
Stormwind offers the best RP experience…at least for now.
Oh, and the level of meta gaming in ESO is suuuuper high. Our wow metagamers are kittycats compared to ESO understanding of how RP should work.
In the end, my broskis, if you ain’t roleplaying on Club Penguin, you’ll never be part of the elite uber amazing RP squad and you have no bragging rights.
