Esports, with decade old bugs killing competition

Latest example is yesterday’s wipe of Mandatory in MDI, Algather’s Academy.

You know the green swirlies spawned by the flower mobs around the tree boss?

Well those swirlies never appeared for them, and they got one shot by them being invisible.

Most telling thing is that Xyronic (caster) knows immediately what caused it, everyone knows because these things are not working in the game properly for as long as the game exists. So unlucky, go next : )

Another thing, did you know that for unknown reason on tournament realm (MDI, TGP etc) Shaman can use ankh multiple times?

Look at this echo HOV run.

  1. Zaelia dies, uses Ankh
  2. Dies again, gets CRed
  3. Dies again, uses Ankh again ( you can see there was no other way to rez/no cr)

These are just from yesterday and theres countless more bugs/issues.

I don’t really care for MDI.

But it is very telling when Bugs start turning up in it. MDI is form of advertisement. So if they’re not making sure their advertisements are polished, all they’re doing is showcasing that they don’t care.

Also, I have never seen any of these bugs in the game. So there is every chance that the way the MDI players are playing are triggering these bugs. MDI players don’t play like normal people.

Well the swirlie thing was apparently because of uneven terrain/elevation. And I’ve encountered similar multiple times, standing somewhere weird causing mechanics to not show up/bug out.

So thats pretty common at least

there’s no way to prevent some bugs before they happen. there should be a department in dev team that watches the training process to see if teams will experience any issues

Yes, this is the case really.

MDI players don’t play like normal players. They specifically find ways to push the boundaries to squeeze every second out of it.

Ofcourse they’re going to come across bugs when they’re pushing the limits.

I mean, that makes sense I guess. But was it a bug, or was it just that they were tank the mobs somewhere unusual.

If they were tanking the mobs where they stand, fine, that’s definitely a bug. But you can’t expect the Devs to forsee players moving the mobs to completely different area’s.

Edit - Although I’ve just watched the video, and they were playing in a normal area.

Yes, I agree some bugs would only be found out in such extreme pulls etc. But most of them are known before.

And any comment on why Shaman can Ankh twice in 1 minute in MDI? Surely they noticed it, right?

It is not an unknown reason, it’s so that they don’t have to make 1500000 shamans to test out pulls while practicing the keys. Blizzard are the ones that made it have no CD on tournament realm if you die after you ankh.

I am trying to find out there was something like APT available for zaelia, but it is hard to see. At least the partyframes show he has reincarnate available on both the first and the 3rd death :thinking:

But invisible deadly circles on whatever slopes is just common. Just try to never pull stuff on slopes (and stairs).

So he could do it twice or unlimited amount of times?

On tournament realm you ankh has no cooldown however you need to be normal Ressed or Cr every second time according to Growl it has been bugged like this for expansions now.

It’s not really bugged, Blizzard made the change so groups wouldn’t have to make 20 shamans just to practice keys so that they would always have ankh ready for their practice.

Could just make it an npc you talk to back in town.
Growl called it a bug Gingi who was in the twitch with him called it a bug.

It also do only work if you have been normal ressed or Combat ressed in between (or released obv)

can’t talk about the ankh but if you check echo’s last HOV run where they pulled everything to 4 kings, it’s a miracle that there weren’t any bugs or glitches in that pull. i don’t think it’s fair to blame blizzard for a bug that could happen with that pull. tho they should really check on practice runs to see these beforehand.

This actually makes sense why he had it available for the 1st and 3rd death :slight_smile:

But blizz should just reset reincarnate every time you enter a dungeon/key… Never understood why it didn’t work this way. There’s probably also a creative way of resetting it when you wipe on a raid boss so you have it every pull.

Blizzard have no right to call this game a esport in any shape or form.

Its more like a open beta where they give zero toss’s about balance.
