I don’t know the health of the population on stitches but Nek’rosh is now very under populated. Its getting harder to form groups outside of of the usual live, die, repeat deadmine runners and the auction house has barely anything for sale anymore.
Hardcore should not be compared to softcore.
We are a living high score that can be deleted at any time.
This circumstance creates a real world in Warcraft.
When you log into the game, you are not playing a game,
but you enter another world.
Because of this, sometimes the server can appear to be empty and other times it may appear to be full.
It remains a surprise what awaits us on the hardcore servers every day.
But one thing should be said, the Zergs will soon be gone and a real group of heroes will form in Hardcore.

If people not group as much is because they died too much from group members’ stupidity.
Is still 5 layers on Nek’Rosh.
AH has 26 243 items right now Ally side and 22 642 Horde side
This only bit less that Stitches 7 layers
29 400 Horde auctions and 55 342 Ally auctions
And this is how it has been for last 2 or 3 weeks, nothing is changed.
Tl;dr: EU Server merge, not for long time!

People die then throw their arms in the air and give up, then complain that a bug or a disconnection killed them and demand their character back and when they don’t get it complain on the forums and quit Hardcore. They should be on Era anyway.
That’s why the population is declining.

Well in the future these two servers either get merged or connected. It‘s still a bit early but maybe in 3-6 months I definitely see it as a possibility.

I don’t see no reason to merge - both have been same pop according to addons now for 2 weeks. I think this is how will stay for long time - and even then 2 servers better than one. People looking for serious end game go one server, people looking for level and chill go other.
And even later problem better solved by free transfer HC servers. not merge.

Well I hope you‘re right and HC can sustain as many players as it does now. But we know that won’t be the case a few months from now
Nekrosh is great because the population has decreased. At present, there is a server that suits those of us who like to level up sometimes with minimal grouping etc. as a challenge (as well as not fighting over mobs) and a server for those that want to be able to find groups quickly. I have characters on both servers, depending on how I want to play.
Guess that’s why you miss a lot.
In one of the last Community Council Chats the devs clearly stated, that they know that there are player who prefer lower populated realms, especially in hardcore.
Probably that´s exactly the reason why there are two - one all of the mega realm player gather, one for those who are looking for a challenge for themselves on a lower populated realm.
I wouldn´t be surprised if they were absolutely fine with a low pop Nek´rosh (and US counterpart). I´d bet i´s exactly what they expect to happen - a higher and a lower populated realm.
I wouldn´t expect that they do anything about the population on Nek´rosh ever, because there´s nothing to do.

I have also stopped playing on official server, cause afraid of glitches… If they fix them somehow, i will be back… Don’t have time to waste Blizzard… Don’t gonna lose a level 50+ character cause of gryphon bug. Let’s be serious. We have a life also.
