They actually use browser language sniffiing to determine if you get redirected to the EU or US websites. If your browser language is set to En_US, (English USA), which is the default for both Chrome and Firefox, you get punted to the US websites.
To fix this, you need to clear your browser caches, change the browser language to En_GB (or some other european language), then you should be punted over to the EU websites.
It’s not known why blizzard are doing browser language sniffing, instead of IP Geolocation, but my personal theory is that they are doing it to save having to pay for a licence to access an IP Geolocations Database.
