Eu store question

So i saw the new expansion physical colectors edition box is avialable for preorder in the gearstore but it said it wil only be avialable there is this true?? cause they only accept creditcard…
Cause i always have bought the physical boxes and i have for sure bought items in the gearstore before (i got the jaina and sylvanas statues when they came out) and i never needed a creditcard before.

Debit cards should work as well. How did you pay before? I think the current gear store opened last year so if you ordered before it might have been operated by a different company with different payment methods.

I was wondering the same thing. I don’t know if the forum blues have any insight into this from corporate but could you comment on whether or not this is actual exclusivity to the Blizzard store (as opposed to “at this time the preorder is Blizzard gear store exclusive”) and the Dragonflight Collector’s Edition will not be heading out to other retailers?

I could pay with a credit card (and you definitely need a card of the MasterCard/Visa etc variety, you can’t pay with just a bank issued debit card) but the shipping for the box is 15.50 € putting the price up to 145.50 € whereas retailers closer to me would not have that high a shipping surcharge.

Edit: US support sayas - see link below - that expansions aren’t being sent to retailers (and according to them haven’t been for “a while”), but my Shadowlands Collector’s Editions came from German Amazon directly (not Marketplace) and it was also sold through German brick & mortar retailers, so this might be a different answer for Europe than it is for the US. Any forum blues able to comment?

I can’t find a CE for DF on any retail site atm, for those who really want a CE I would suggest ordering it from the Blizz Store to be safe.

the last time i bought something it must either have been paypal or debitcard it was when jaina statue came out so deff before the new store.
I just dont get why change to less payment options especially since in europe creditcard is way less prevalent and harder to get then in the US not to mention i been paying my sub also with other ways

well that the problem they only take creditcard even on the EU store, i happyly whould order it there if i could

For me my debit cards usually work because they are also mastercard/visa but it’s not an actual credit card.

I’ve not tried to use the Blizzard store for years after I got taxed a hideous amount importing a Pepe plushie as a gift to a friend. Cost me more to get it into the country than it did to buy it.

I couldn’t really find much about their accepted forms of payment beyond the icons at the bottom of the screen.

Disappointing to see paypal isn’t included considering how many places accept it.

at checkout the apple and google pay dont even show up, i looked it up yesterday somewhere on this site is said they also take paypal but i guess that outdated

I can confirm that the only payment option for the preorder is a credit card (MasterCard, Visa, American Express). Maybe Apple Pay, Google Pay and even Paypal don’t allow preorders without a defined delivery.

I agree that credit cards are way less prevalent in Europe than elsewhere. I have one but I know many people that don’t.

My main issue is the shipping cost.

i struggle with the same thing. i want the CE… but most europeans dont have a creditcard. seems Blizz thinks everyone owns one. if they add paypal or something i would be able to get some.

Like Punyelf above said, Debit cards marked with Visa/MasterCard should work just fine, too. Least in my country the banks haven’t issued “own” debit cards for ages, pretty much everything is Visa or MasterCard. Some banks might require that the customer enables online payments for the card though so if your Visa/Mastercard debit card doesn’t work check with your bank (eg. here online services usually allow to enable or disable the online payments instantly).

Prepaid cards might be an option, too, but obviously those are more expensive and not always accepted.

And places like the Netherlands don’t have Mastercard or similar debits. I haven’t been there since Covid, but I presume they still use debits like iDeal as do many European countries. There’s been problems because of this before but I hoped the new people running the store might understand.

Going bit off-topic but I was curious so I searched info about iDeal. Sounds like exactly the system we have (no idea how popular ours is, probably still fairly popular as in many cases it is easier than using credit/debit card number etc) where the online transaction is done. I used the system from early 2000s from what I remember, though I have stopped using it due to lack of protections if something goes wrong. It is very rarely used abroad obviously as it is a local system like iDeal so for international purchases debit/credit cards are pretty much required unless the seller offers Paypal or similar options where the money can be transferred in advance.

Can’t really expect all retailers (especially if the sell volume is not large enough) to support every local payment system, imo.

Also, I remember hearing somewhere that “Maestro” cards are also fairly popular in Netherlands? While checking out iDeal I came article mentioning that Mastercard is going to phase out Maestro in 2023 so those cards would be replaced by something else.

Hopefully OP and others figure out some way to buy the collector’s edition.

I contacted the store and asked what payments they accept for the EU and I got the following reply:-

Thanks for reaching us.

Our payment options are Visa, Maestro, Mastercard and AMEX.

Don´t hesitate contact us again if you have any more inquiries.

those are not different payment methods thou they just diff creditcards

i dont expect them to accept ideal but they took paypal on the old store and they currently still take paypal for subscriptions, it baffeling they get a new store and take less paypemts options and only accept one type that one of the least popular ones in the eu for their eu store.

Maestro is not a credit card and my regular bank card is a MasterCard without being a credit card.

I’m disappointed they won’t take other things like PayPal.

The weird thing is my bank issued me a renewed card from Maestro to VPay and when I thought I could finally shop on stores that accepts Visa it appears to be not accepted making me facepalm deeply.

Not a fan of actual credit cards myself, and I loath paypal.

The thing is that the store isn’t run by Blizzard. It’s the official store, but run by a store company rather than the gaming company and I guess the payment method is their decision.

‘Reaching us’ sounds like an American expression as does ‘inquiries’ at the end which would be queries or enquiries in English English. Maybe they need everyone who can’t pay them from EU to contact them and tell them as they maybe don’t realise it’s a big problem.

Not sure what’s funnier, the payments they take then don’t or the fictional postal charges.
