Maybe it’s there wrong thing to ask on here, the European forum but, I currently live in Europe. However I might move to the US soon, is there a way to change and play on the US WoW servers already now? Even tho I’m in Europe now?
You cannot “migrate” no. But you can create an account in the US region and link US characters from there in the US forums
You have to start all over if you wanna play on us
It is really odd how you can’t even link accounts to transfer stuff like transmog, titles, mounts, achievements etc.
I get them not wanting people to bounce back and forth all the time and playing with massive ping issues and thats fine, but just sharing account data shouldnt be a problem?
Probably something something data laws that makes it messy moving stuff between the continents. Or they are just gambling on players buying the game again.
I guess, i just find it odd considering other platforms like steam or something i can play with NA people on the SAME account with the toggle of a button but here i cant even share data? I get wow is an old game, but cmon.
Don’t think they have made a proper statement to why which does make the green alternative more likely…

@Dreamkore: In addition to certain legal complications, the US and EU versions are not quite identical, which also means that the characters “saves” likely differ a bit. Best known examples include certain details on Brewfest, but that is not the only affected area. Which probably means that the transfers would require manual fixing… I am not saying it is impossible, but it is likely to be so expensive that it simply is not worth it. Years ago I put an estimated price at around 500+ euros / dollars / character…

That would depend if it’s server or client side. And in most cases it would be easiest for everyone working on the game to keep it client side so that their databases are the same across the board.

@Livía: I fully admit that I am not an expert on this, but my understanding is that the differences are server side stuff (databases, different / non-existing quests, etc).
No. You’re forced to keep on playing in Europe servers.
Or you can pay another expansion cost, another sub and start from zero. But before that, you should say goodbye to your achievements, characters, mounts, golds, and other stuff.
No other choice dude.
Doubt it will be too hard to create the choosen character on an US account, give it the current items/mounts/achies to it and then delete the EU character.
I think its something else why dont they do this.
If you insist on playing on the US servers, yeah, although there’s really no reason. At least from Europe to US there’s no noticeable lag. Maybe from the US to EU servers there will be because American internet is stuck in the 18th century.
My feelings right now are: W.T.F… so there is NO way, for someone moving from EU to US IRL to move the character to a US account?! Ofc I wanna be playing on the server where I can meet people that I’ll live close to and might become IRL friends
No you can’t move your character but you can attach a US account to your battlenet and start a fresh character on US servers. You just have to start over, sadly
This makes me literally suicidal/wanna quit the game. I’ve been putting 3,5 months of work into my Druid with unlocking artifacts… pathfinders… collecting tmog for shadowlands… and now when I might get a job in the US?! I can’t migrate to a US server
I mean in the grand scheme of things it’s just a game, compared to a job opportunity abroad. Best of luck
You could choose to carry on with the EU account and play with the higher MS.
Private data can be moved if the person asks it to for sure.
Google, Facebook etc and blizzard, as American companies, move way much more data of people from abroad without our consent or oversight.
I think it’s to counter account sales… As people from poor Asia and Latin America areas and other impoverished countries can use this to farm and make accounts and then “” transfer them to their own American accounts"(that in fact they sold on some website)

This makes me literally suicidal
Show some respect please. I get that it’s frustrating and you’re entitled to be miffed but please don’t use that in such a hyperbolic way.
