It would be great if they could balance bgs somehow. The biggest problem is probably ilvl and honor level that might influence the balance of bgs.
So far every BG I joined as a single player turns out to be a stomp, whether I win or lose doesn’t really matter, as it isn’t fun on either side.
It is never a close game and rarely a game where actually something is going on.
95% of my CTF games are 3/0 with grave yard farming (or 0/3)
95% of my base CTF games are 3/0 or 5/0 respectively
Mostly I can guess the result of the game already in the waiting room if I can inspect the enemy team as well.
Now after tons of complaining regarding healer balance, they seemingly implemented a change some years ago (unmentioned and unrecorded), but you can clearly see that every bg is trying to fill each group with 2-3 healers (for some reason tanks count as healer and sometimes you end up with 2 tanks and 0 heals = autoloss). So in general I think this match making turns out to work fine.
What doesn’t work out fine is that you play with a team with 5 people unter ilvl 150 vs 10 people with ilvl 220+.
Since we cannot just scale ilvl to 200 min. because it would make honor farming irrelevant, the only thing they could do is trying to match lower ilvl with lower ilvl and only if nothing fits in the queue they are cross matched. Or at least give both sides an equal amount of low ilvl toons.
Honor level is usually a bad measurement of skill thus cannot really be taken into any account I guess.
In the current state random bgs are really no fun anymore. Premades and power gap just do the rest.
Yeah if you inspect both teams, and one has more 40k hp full geared players then there’s an extremely high chance they win, especially if your team is mostly 20k hp.
Once again the ridiculous ilvl disparity ruining pvp
What’s it going to be like having freshly levelled in later patches? 20k hp vs 80k?
guess that will greatly depends on how quickly and easy the next catch up garbage is they will put in the game.
Best case it says as miserable as it is now, worst case it will be indeed ilvl 120 vs ilvl 280 or sth
Couldn’t agree more. I used to enjoy just logging in and queueing some random bgs for fun. Nowadays you either afk because your team is getting gy camped, or you can afk because your team is doing the camping. I recently leveled an alt through bgs and the 50-59 bracket was vastly more fun than the content at 60. Now I’m working on getting another class up to 50 just so I can have some fun in bgs again in that 59 bracket… until it hits 60 at which point I will probably stop playing it. Sad but 60 bgs are just not fun for me, regardless which side I’m on. And I don’t want to take the time to try and join rated group every time I log in. I want to just hop in and play for a bit, but it’s not fun to log my 225ilvl hunter and kill someone in 2 globals. They should just have matchmaking according to ilvl.
Also, whoever at blizzard though it would be fun to place a fresh ilvl150 player in level 60 bg’s against ilvl220+ opposition needs to seriously re-evaluate this decision. Possibly try playing a ilvl150 player in bg’s for a day.
After being away from Wow for about 4 years, The entire experience of pvp when hitting level 60 right now, without a covenant yet, is very frustrating and in no way fun.
It would feel far more fun if battleground groups were based on item level ranges. Like maybe 150 - 195 and 196 - 220+ ? This would really improve this situation (which will only get worse as the item level increases over time).
Lately I have also found myself constantly in battlegrounds where Alliance will have no healers at all and there will be 4/5 healers on the horde side. I’m not sure what this is about, but it’s happening enough to be noticeable.
The problem is that if they separate it, bg queues would be even worse. They have fundamental issues with gearing and gear difference. They need to fix this and tons of other issues fix itself. But they either dont give a damn at all or do it on purpose for some twisted way to milk some extra money from ppl.
True. Especialy in bg like silvershard mines. I cannot recal a single even match in this idiotic bg ever.
I think it needs to be pointed out that theres a gargantuan difference if you get 20k hp healer or 40k+…its also an immense difference if you get a disc priest vs any other class, spec. Since disc priest is for some reason brokenly OP in bgs…im kinda suprised that nobody is complaining about them…theyre unkillable…eithee Raidance or BM trinket needs a massive nerf. Imho.
Currently i feel like you can gues an bg outcome just by looking at teams and counting how many disc priests, moonkins and rets is here and team with more of those will win.
I think we pointed out generally a lot that gear in general is a big issue atm.
The whole thread was basically a complaint about the gear difference between both team.
It seems uncanni because it is always 1 terrible geared team vs 1 good geared team, not even mixed much.
one 40k HP healer also cannot do much if your whole team got 0 vers and just flop all over the map. Yeah the healer is unkillable but doesn’t matter much if the rest team is always dead.
Disc priest are op because radiance yea, but it gets nerfed next patch at least. They don’t have so much mana problems in bgs as in arenas as you have an easier time to recover.
Generally people don’t complain to much about RBG spec much as most people think rbgs and bgs in general are just yolo memes
for players like me who greatly enjoy(ed) random bgs as their main activity, it is just a disaster right now.
I can predict the outcome of a bg pretty well in the starting area (i still give my best and stf u). If you see several people with 38-40k hp on the enemy team and you got 0 or just 1 while the rest hovers at 30-32k or even worse at 20-25k you know that you will lose.
If they play busted classes like ret or boom or rogue, yeah you will just lose even harder and ret will delete your whole team all by himself.
It feels pointless to join a bg when you don’t need to play to know the result
