Dear Blizzard,
Let me start by saying, I’m a huge fan of the Warcraft universe. I was hooked from the moment I played Warcraft I for the first time back in the day. I couldn’t believe it when I found out there was going to be a Warcraft mmo. It absolutely blew my mind and I remember fondly the first steps I took through Elwynn Forest on my paladin, the snow in Dun Morogh while on my dwarven hunter and the first friend I made in Durotar back in Vanilla, who’s to this day still in my friends list and playing WoW.
Throughout the years I’ve renewed my subscription time and time again, with only a short break around Cataclysm. I have played on another account as well, but mostly this one.
The reason I subscribed to WoW back in the day was mostly for my character’s progression and once Transmog came in to play, that was and still is, a huge reason for me to play the game. In fact, the only reason I get 1800 rating in pvp, is for the mog.
For TBC and WotLK I subscribed because my friends were playing and I was in 1 of the best guilds on my server back then. The same was true for Cataclysm and MoP mostly. With Warlords I bought in to the hype and though I wasn’t too impressed with the story and garrisons, the gameplay/combat was very enjoyable. Once Legion came out I made my own guild and had a grand time. Legion was one of the best expansions for me.
Then came BFA… I played intensively, raided, pvpd, did m+. By this time I was mostly in the game for the mogs, all the systems (heart of Azeroth, corruption etc) were not enjoyable to me and felt empty and overall annoying, although I didn’t mind the Azerite power infinite grind. I like paragon lvls of any kind.
Towards the end of BFA, I wasn’t sure if I’d renew for Shadowlands… until I saw the shields that were designed for Exile’s Reach, the new tutorial island, where new players could opt in to start at. Holy moly, as a paladin main, that stuff was just a blessing (let’s stay in theme here xD). Once I learned the shields and several weapons were not implemented I was very disappointed but still bought the expansion in the hopes you’d add them later on.
Now, it’s been almost a year (or longer?) and I believe most people have forgotten about those shields. Not sure if I’m allowed to post links but this is the article on wowhead that shows them, for those that don’t know:
So, please Blizzard, can you give an explanation to a loyal fan and subscriber as to why these never made it to the game. Will they be added at some point? Should I give up hope running around as a Scarlet zealot or a defender of Lordaeron? Why Blizzard, WHY!
Now that you’ve made it this far, thank you btw, I’ll just capitalize on your tenacity and I’ll keep it short from here on.
What about Kyrian Wings and I don’t mean the pathetic looking 6 feather ones you can get now as a back transmog. I mean the wings some of the Kyrian have. A cosmetic that stays on your back and functions as a mount. It could have a mount up timer just as regular mounts. Maybe even give it a nice animation like the Worgen transformation from Human to Worgen, but in this case, where your angelic wings prepare for flight and your character lifts off the ground. Also, pls, don’t make it a backslot cosmetic, make it separate, we’d all still like our cloaks, thank you
I know I promised to keep it short, but I lied. Seeing as you’ve made it even further in my wall of text, what’s the point of quitting now. Might as well see what else I have to say. No point in telling me to keep it short, I’ve been subscribed for 17 years.
I trust by now, you’ve sent word to the developing team to get to work on these awesome ideas. However, I have 1 more addition. Guild Housing. Or something similar. There have been some amazing suggestions in the forums US/EU on this topic so I won’t go into details in this post (lucky you ey?). Guild/player housing, could be a huge gold sink. It could support new professions. You could reuse tons of furniture models, I know how you like to reuse and recolor models so that should appeal to you. Garrisons were a failure, but I believe if the player has more choice in how to build or where to place items etc. (Look at the Wildstar housing, dead game I know, but awesome housing), I would enjoy it immensely. I shudder to say it, but I’m sure you’ve thought of it by now, cash shop items for houses etc. Hey, I have to get you interested somehow, right? Just don’t bring back mission tables.
All in all, more customization, maybe I’m vastly overestimating your budget and all this can’t be done by a billion dollar company, but I have faith… and money… which I know you like.
I would be remiss if I didn’t give mad props to all the hard working people at Blizz putting in their time and creativity to make this awesome game. So here it is, thank you and I hope all the good ideas come through and get into the game.
One more thing, hahaaaaaa, you thought you were done? Guess what, I lied again! My 15 minutes of forum fame baby! Let’s go!
Class cosmetics, yes, something you’ve thought of yourself, years ago. Great idea, never made it to the game. Librams for paladins, quivers for hunters. Poison vials for rogues. Tomes for mages. Imagine a libram hanging from a chain on your belt (with physics) as a paladin. Maybe even get more than 1 cosmetic, maybe you can upgrade them to make them look more awesome. Quivers on the hip when using crossbows, ammo pouches or bandoliers for guns. Customizable demons (Armour, horns, hair, colour etc) for warlocks. I’m sure you can think of many awesome things yourself. Again, don’t make these cosmetics replace a gear slot, separate cosmetic slots please! Big fan of tier sets returning btw.
To make a long story short (I know you don’t trust me by now xD ), let’s start with the shields from Exile’s Reach and you’ll keep a long time fan very happy (and off the forums).
Also, more hoods. Ok I’m done.
