Zarao’s thread is depressing me. Help me get over it, by presenting scenarios for ending this expansion that you would actually like…as much as possible.
Wistful thinking mandatory.
Must include the final raid.
Should be theoretically possible in the game, so no erasing of player races, forcing a faction split that would forcefully split guilds, and so on.
I am still working on something myself, but am failing for now, so my version might come later, but maybe some of you have ideas that might actually lift my spirit concerning the expansion’s end.
Whoever has the most uplifting theory that meets the criteria will get the title of “Forum Gnome-Pleaser” bestowed upon them.
Last raid of BfA burns Silvermoon to the ground and Sylvanas turns the Sin’dorei into…the UNDEAD-elves. To be mocked for all eternity as lackeys of the Banshee Queen.
Ion Hazzikostas appears and says it was all just a prank and then we revert back to Legion before Sargeras plunged his sword into Azeroth. He tried, but missed, so no Azerite.
The Alliance and the Horde remain at peace.
Sylvanas steps down as Warchief to pursue her own goals, and a War Council takes over.
The Horde and Alliance still travel to Kul Tiras and Zandalar, but not because of war but because they wanted to get in touch again with their old allies to make their faction stronger or whatever.
The Alliance recruit the Dark Iron Dwarves by helping Magni in becoming normal again, and Moira is so happy that she “formally joins” the Alliance, whatever that means since they were already allies but ok.
The Horde receive some kind of distress signal from the Mag’har and they are recruited as it happened in BfA.
The Kul Tirans and Zandalari are recruited after Jaina becomes Lord Admiral & King Rastakhan reconquers Dazar’alor. The Mag’har and DIDs are moved to 8.1. so the Allied Race order makes sense.
Rastakhan doesn’t die.
We basically skip 8.1 in terms of lore and head straight for the 8.2 storyline, because instead of focusing on this faction war, we can now focus on who is truly EVIIIL and that is Azshara.
In terms of gameplay, well, we lose the Warfronts and the War Campaign, and the theme of the expansion is drastically changed but I’m sure we can find another engaging questline, right?
EDIT
Also, it was about the ending, but I figured that with the current way the storylines are set up, we have no chance at getting an interesting ending, so we need to grab the roots of the problem before we head to the fun part.
I guess we all defeat N’zoth, retire and become Adventurers again in a revamped world that has the same mob density as Cata/MoP.
Here is my idea for the ending cinematic of this expansion:
Cities lay in devastation, armies are shattered, and only one flicker of hope remains for the world. Amidst the ashes of the old world, stands proudly the shining High King, in all his might and glory.
To the people of Orgrimmar, the High King has a few but significant words to say: “We have all suffered at the hand of the Banshee. She has been defeated at last, and I shall allow the Horde to continue in its existence. But you will answer to the new Warchief, Baine, and together, we shall uphold peace and justice, and ensure that the shadows never again threaten the new order.”
As the High King leaves the city, masses of orcs, trolls, and tauren cheer. Baine kneels, before beginning his duties as new Warchief.
Anduin returns to Stormwind where everyone, whether they be Human or filthy subhuman scum, cheer for him. Tyrande begs for forgiveness and receives the High King’s miraculous blessings. Velen and Malfurion bow and admit that Anduin has shown to be capable of surpassing them in skill and strength despite his young age. Jaina, forgiven by Talanji for her actions in the Battle of Dazar’alor, points at a map of Azeroth painted in blue.
In the last scene of the cinematic, the Banshee Sylvanas who survived the Siege of Orgrimmar 2.0 can be seen looking at the tomb of the Grand Marshal who was once her ally. She whispers “Forgive me, Oh mighty Human, but I need your help now in the darkest hour.”
It’s extremely difficult for me to think of a satisfactory ending to this expansion without altering what has already happened in this expansion.
So instead, my best case ending for the expansion would be [INSERT_FANTASY_ABOUT_MY_FACTION_SUCCESSFULLY_DOMINATING_THE_OTHER_FACTION_IN_THE_MOST_HUMILIATING_WAY_POSSIBLE_HERE]
I also forgot to mention that Anduin bought Greymane a beautiful muzzle so that he can finally shut up, so as you can see I am not biased as I did not forget about you Greymane fanboys, all 5 of you.
Seconded.
But given the answers so far, i think this became somewhat mandatory…
Will i still get the title if my best case scenario has Gallywix enslaving the whole gnome race and using the Mechagnomes for spare parts for his Mecha-suit (selling their remnants below market price)?
A third party in the Horde Civil War arrives and convinces the majority of the Horde army to abandon Sylvanas, Saurfang and Baine to their petty war just as they’re about to duke it out in front of Orgrimmar.
Sylvanas and Saurfang take their remaining forces and kill each other until the Alliance arrives, led by Tyrande (Still blaming Saurfang for Teldrassil), who wipes out both sides and takes Orgrimmar.
Meanwhile the majority of the Horde under whoever this new leader is launch a surprise attack on Stormwind, whose defenses are weakened due to their commitment to attacking Orgrimmar.
The Horde take Anduin prisoner, put Stormwind under martial law and destroy the deeprun tram. No genocide, those that surrender are disarmed and returned to their homes.
The Alliance finds out about this and grows a new Kaldorei settlement over the ruins of Orgrimmar but the war has left both sides too weak to attack each other.
Boom, Horde get rid of their bad apples, Alliance get revenge for Teldrassil, the Anduin Noblebright problem is removed so we can have some actual moral greyness in the story and the Blood War ends with both sides severely weakened as the Black Empire rises from the depths.
Not exactly ideal, but it’s the best I can think of in my current state of mind.
If it’s part of the most uplifting theory that meets the criteria by the end of this thread, sure. I kind of doubt it, though, and if it is I will try to top it myself.
@Aeula
Thanks for an actual attempt. I know it is… quite the challenge.
The Horde calls for a council, Thrall enters the room and slaps Baine out of his stupidity and Sylvanas out of the Warchief seat.
Then he seats on Orgrimmars throne calls forth the Horde armies and sinks the Kul Tiran fleet with a combo of Loa and elemental forces. That also kills Katherine, something that quenches Talanji’s thirst for vengeance for her father.
Now that things are even, he calls for a meeting with Anduin, in which both acknowledge the heavy casualties of this conflict and call for a truce.
Horde leaves Darkshore and Ashenvale, Alliance renounces all claim over the lands north of Thandol Span bridge, and borders are created using the wall of Gilneas as frontier.
With this settled, Sylvanas is sent back to Lordaeron to clean up the mess, under heavy Horde surveillance to ensure her good faith.
And with the armies back again on stable ground, both factions are back to heal the planet, with occasional outburst of punctual greed regarding Azerite.
Best i can do without rewriting the lore of the whole expansion. I know its not a requisite, but…
All 7 human kingdoms are reclaimed.
A storyline about Alterac and General Hath, together with Thin Human allied race.
Patch focusing on Gilneas, with uncursed Gilnean customization option.
Lordaeron is reclaimed, Scarlet Crusade and The Silver Hand join the Alliance together with Redeemed Undead Allied race.
Dalaran and Kirin Tor is Alliance once more again, with much less elf focus.
Stromgarde gets it’s own tabard and horse mount from the medal vendor.
Actually not only that, every kingdom gets a new cool horse mount.
Tandred replaces Jaina as Lord Admiral of Kul Tiras.
Stormwind gets a HD update.
A small storyline about the people of Westfall (former Defias) uniting under the leadership of Stormwind once again would be welcome as well, together with Vanessa appearing again.
Yeah, that sounds like it.
EDIT: Also Alliance conquers the whole Eastern Kingdoms. How could I forget.
