Explain like I'm 5! Ashran

As title says, can anyone in simplest terms explain Ashran. I went there this evening first time in about a year when I went for first and only time in I think. So I think this makes it my 2nd time.

Both teams started and ran to middle, we lost that battle so then for the rest of the 150 reinforcements we died at our base dying to horde.

What are reinforcements? These don’t seem to be player repawns because while I know horde were dying the numbers were not going down. And the rate I was dying alliance numbers were not falling that fast?

What are artifacts? Why was no one collecting?

Why is map so big if it’s just a race to kill the other team?

So confused, I might sick to WSG at least I know what I’m doing there, collect a flag + defend a flag.

Can anyone explain?

Thank you for taking the time to read.

Ashran used to have a lot of objectives, very strong for the time.
Now since it was not renewed to match with the equip, it’s not worth to do the objectives anymore and ppl rush to mid.
Also, as you are an example, they didn’t make some kind of tooltip even to slighty explain the usefulness of something… most ppl don’t know what the solar sphere is / where it is … and it’s like a permanent bloodlast…
I also took my time to understand…
Blizz should make a tooltip at the start of the BGs like they did for the istances…
But they won’t make it.
Just rush to the center, but not with a warrior

That bg is mostly about solar 20% haste buff, keep solar all time and it will probably result in a win if not extreamly bad team ofc.

Good old ashran :crying_cat_face:

Atm is only killing other faction faster…rarely boss is killed.

So what is solar?

The solar sphere exists in the mines, it is a capturable objective and awards 30% haste to the team that holds it.

Classic Ashran pops up in brawl system which is closer to the original (not 100% copy) this has original mechanics, events periodically appear, it is a never ending cycle so you gather around the map and regroup to build power.

Ashran being designed to not end, a lot of the time you would get a good leader and a willing team, control the map and rares which in turn leads to controlling the road, in original and current if the whole raid kills rare you get unique class ability but more importantly scrolls that can reduce 60% damage on your raid(sometimes but more likely more player kill).

Currently I am of the opinion that Ashran is horde favoured, they have an elite and song flowers next to their base and often to do both fast before middle. Song flower is a huge 15% to all stats. Plus horde mage is much harder for a raid to kill, seen it wipe groups too much lol. Also it depends on the groups, sometimes one is just far more powerful and alliance do get wins too.

Still can be a fun epic bg, Ashran notably has the most fighting, other bgs often groups bypass pvp or fall flat on their face when defended from their pve zerg. Wintergrasp has some fighting but sadly it mostly falls down to sieges doing majority of it.

Main objective is to basically push the road now with flag and kill. Also a -50 reinforcments for killing a tower mage and an auto victory if the main boss is killed, very simple and it’s not really worth deviating from the road unless it is for song flower.
Npcs are bad, they will only help against bad teams and a single player can kite them to their doom anyway, I suggest to not bother but many teams cannot resist.

Any more question feel free, I played this a ton in WoD and it’s probably my fave bg currently still which is sad given how much is cut from it.
