There is one thing that keeps bothering me when creating alt characters. That is that the world map needs to explored again. Well i already know the world. i’ve already explored the world. It’s feels tedious to do it again. Yes, i know i don’t have to explore them. Yes, i know i can install an addon to show the zones before i have explored them. I simply can’t watch those unfinished maps.
So i got a solution that doesn’t take away re-exploring, but unlocks the maps for those who want to skip that process:
A Cartographer NPC
This Cartographer NPC is a new type of vendor which sells maps of continents. Buying such map fully explores the continent for you, so you don’t have to do it by flying around.
As soon you’ve explored a certain continent completely, which gives you the achievement, you unlock the matching map at the Cartographer NPC. For example: You cannot buy the Kalimdor map if you haven’t completed the Kalimdor Explorer achievement as it is a requirement for the purchase
This Cartographer NPC should be located in every capital city and expansion hub.
Available maps:
Map of Kalimdor
Map of Eastern Kingdoms
Map of Outland
Map of Northrend
Map of Pandaria
Map of Draenor
Map of the Broken Isles
Map of Argus
Map of Kul Tiras
Map of Zandalar
Map of the Shadowlands
Map of the Dragon Isles
What do you guys think of this idea?
Note: Apparently Blizzard had hidden heirloom maps to the game that do just that. I have i missed them all those time…
like fury said we already have heirloom maps but we need more options like that that’s for sure. for example i’d love to start playing a campaign at a point i want to instead of repeating it or skipping big parts. sometimes there are great quests that you want to repeat with alts but can’t or takes too much time
Seriously. I play WoW for 20 years and i didn’t even know that existed.
Yes, they do exactly what i meant. Blizzard could make this a bit clearer. Maybe use my solution and move those items to a seperate cartographer NPC perhaps.
Prices of those map should be cheaper though. 10k for 1 map is too much. Or do 10k if you haven’t got the explore achievement and if you have a much cheaper price, 100-300 gold maybe.
I really think there can be an improvement here. Fixing something tedious as exploring each time shouldn’t be fixed by an expensive 10k gold toy.
Although I hate expensive items, I think 10k is about right. It’s mainly for veteran players who have accumulated plenty of gold. If you want to save, go explore, it shouldn’t take long on your flying mount.
