Extra race unlocks in Dragonflight

Is it still possible to unlock all the extra races in dragonflight?

Many guides suggest it is, NPCs aren’t where they are supposed to be anymore making the whole thing kind of impossible.

Managed the Mechagnomes, moved on to the Lightforged Draenei and Void Elf requirements but NPCs are missing all over.

Does anyone know of a straight forward way to unlock these now, or is it the standard “old content” so blizzard is ignoring it problem.

Allied races are still very much possible to unlock, but due to it being old content, it can be really confusing to find the right breadcrumbs and/or unlock requirements for those breadcrumbs, since patches from previous expansions kind of overlap with each other and cause a bunch of phasing issues.
So the unlock itself is straight forward (and has been streamlined actually), but the way to getting that unlock… ehm… unlocked, is not.

Which NPC are you looking for? There’s no straight forward blanket answer to all of them, so you have to take it a little case-by-case :wink:

Archmage Khadgar is not in dalaran and apparently I need him to start one of the quests. Another guide said to do some legion story before he would appear, that led to a hand in to the king who is not there in stormwind. Leading to just a complete dead end in trying to do the unlocks

Ooof okay, Khadgar not being there can have multiple phasing reasons, so this may be really tricky to figure out.

Couple of things you could try out:

  1. Make sure you unlocked your order hall and done the introduction quests up to and including getting your first artifact. This sets Dalaran to the appropriate phase (not sure if this is needed anymore).
  2. Check the quests of the questline “Nightfall” starting with “Khadgar’s Discovery”, as some of those quests phase him our of Dalaran.
  3. Check the quests of the questline “To Argus!” starting with “The Hand of Fate”. I don’t think there’s a huge amount of phasing with this line, but could be worth a shot.

Couple of extra points I’m just leaving here to make sure, although I assume this is not the problem here:

  • Make sure you’re in the Legion version of Dalaran, not the Northrend version (the portal to Dalaran in the Stormwind Mage Tower is the wrong one, it brings you to Northrend)
  • Don’t do any of this on an Evoker; I’m honestly not sure how they work in Legion, as I haven’t tried it, but I’m asuming that is even more chaotic than doing it on a class that was available back in Legion

Regarding the king hand-in:

  • Assuming you’re not looking for Varian (as he has no Legion-specific quests tied to him), if this is concerning Anduin, check the quests of the “The King’s Path” questline, starting with “A Found Memento”, as that is known to cause a whole bunch of phasing issues with Anduin.

Sorry I can’t narrow it down further for you, I know this can be a real headache. Is this the character you’re trying it on, or a different one?

Am doing it all on a lvl70 monk. But trying to find all the quests is just a complicated mess. All the guides for this just say got to Khadgar in dalaran and start the questline. Which simply isnt the case, looks like I will have to try and hunt down other quest else where which will probably also require other quests before them too.

Luckily one guide for mechagnome mentioned you could skip the end dungeon as that is broken and cant be completed. You cant hack the tower thing, apparently thats been broken for over a year going by threads on this forum and never fixed.

Be nice if they just updated these races to have a nice quest giver that triggered the questlines as the content is now old and the prerequisites are no longer just normal storyline things you do along the way.

You probably have to do the legion intro quests first. Go to the hero’s call board in stormwind and take the legion one.

As I said that’s what I had tried, but that runs into a dead end too when the king is not in place to hand in a quest and move that forward. Tried every work around i can find to try and get them both to spawn but no luck
