Extremely High Latency

Finally able to login but it takes forever and i’m getting 5000 MS on both accounts. Only my wow classic is lagging and I have tried clearing cache resetting modem and router turning off addons and everything. Lag seems to only be in WoW since I have done speed tests and latency tests outside of the game and everything is fine with my network.

Things I have tried.
-Reset Router and Modem.
-Try running wow with a fresh Interface folder cache folder and WTF folder.
-Disable all addons.
-100% confirm it’s not a network issue on my end. Multiple speed tests with and without VPN.
-Completely disable VPN to make sure it isn’t messing around with my connection to the game client.
-IPconfig release/renew/DNS flush
-Scan for corrupted files/repair tool in the bnet client.
-Restart PC lol
-Try on wired connection and WIFI
-Try to connect with VPN
-Completely whitelist everything WoW/Blizzard related on my AV and firewall.

Despite all these attempts to fix this issue I still login and get around 700 - 10k Ping and the game is pretty much unplayable on both my WoW accounts. While I lag in game my network seems fine youtube netflix other games have 0 lag have done multiple speed tests and downloaded stuff on steam to test connection and have no issue.

One thing I will add is i’m playing from the US but 99.9% of the time my ping is around 80 - 120 ms tops since the launch of classic in 2019 so it’s not just me being in the US causing this issue. I even set my VPN to London and ran a speed test and get around 100 MS latency on the test.

Only conclusion is there must be some issue between my client and blizzard or something with EU servers connecting overseas do to some error on blizzards end.

Could be, but without actually providing any information it is impossible to tell.

I ran the tests on all 3 EU IP’s and did not get any useful information it seems. I did ping the 3 IP’s multiple times from within my router settings and noticed that 185.60.114.159 Gives me an average 100 MS round trip with 0 loss but 185.60.112.157 and 185.60.112.158 give me 200 + MS and sometimes fail to even connect with 100% loss after multiple pings. only the third IP seems to be stable.

Also randomly last night the issue was gone and today when I logged in it randomly happened again. All while nothing changed in my network on my end and have had a stable connection.

Edit: Also Noticed that sometimes the Realm latency will be around 90 - 100 which is normal for me but the world latency will be over 500 and sometimes it will be the other way around or both.

Edit: Another strange thing I have noticed is when I dualbox my accounts on the same realm. one of them can have really high ping while the other one has the normal average ping. I suspect they are connecting to different EU ip’s?

Edit: Now everything is running smooth until it randomly decides to crap out again. And nothing on my end has changed. So yea idk whats going on on blizzards end but it’s resulting in random high ping whenever it feels like it.

Having the same problem as OP and tried pretty much the same attempts to fix. It also started around the same time as OP

xe-0-0-1-0-br02-cthz1.blizzardonline.net and ae1-br02-eqam1.as57976.net usually have MS in the thousands when ingame ping sky rockets.

Based on the winMTR output it looks like there’s an issue in Level 3’s network (Level 3 owns a lot of the long distance internet links) routing to Blizzard’s servers.

Most likely it will need either Blizzard or your ISP’s network engineers to have a word with Level 3 to ask them to take a look at the issue. Unfortunately L3 don’t take reports from the general public.

Same issue, occurs daily around 14:00st to 15:00st. 10k ms, cant even log in sometimes. After 15:00st it slowly starts to get better. Some hiccups in the evening, but not that often.

Also any blizzard site has trouble loading at this time too.

If that is the case then this problem may not be fixed for a very long time since I doubt blizzard will contact them anytime soon. :confused:

Edit- When it’s not terrible Im sitting at around 250 ms now which is the new normal with this issue. Used to be 80 - 100 before the issue from the US.

Is there any realistic way to get blizzard to look into this issue? The ticket system is not an option atm since it takes 100 days for a response and I don’t think it’s a GM issue anyway.

Blizzard will have monitoring on their network so it’s likely it will be spotted at some point (if it’s not already being worked on), and they do have folks who read the forums (even if they don’t respond) so you’ve probably done what you can.

You could try your ISP to see if you can get their CS to pass the winMTR over to their networking team who will be able to reach out to the provider to hurry it along.

Still having this issue almost a week now random high ping even DC randomly. 100% not my internet since it’s only WoW. Just another thing blizzard will sweep under the rug…

I still have extreme latency (more than 8000). Haven’t been able to play for the entire month or even longer. I need this to be fixed!
