Faction Balance

So I decided to check out Wrath and was excited to play through the content again and level up my Hunter from classic & TBC. Although I didn’t play very much in TBC when I left the faction balance on some servers was still relatively ok so I assumed it would probably be similar when I logged back in after a year or so.

After playing for maybe like 20 hours or so I became apparent to me that I had basically seen 2 horde players during that whole time in the 2 wrath starting areas on my server. So today I looked at the Ironforge pro site to see what was going on and to my surprise Earthshaker is now classed as a 100% alliance server. On top of that most of the other servers are either 1 faction servers or completely dead.

It’s kinda sad that the servers are in this state. I’m probably still going to slowly lvl to 80, but the whole 1 faction server thing has really put a downer on the hype I had for playing again. I guess I’ll do the whole nostalgia thing for a month or so, but can’t really say I’m super hyped to spend my time playing on a PvP server with zero PvP lol.

Same here. It slowly kills the will to play more and more. I am doing quests in some locations and I am just sad. Thinking to myself "this area would create some good random wpvp"but knowing it won’t ever happen because there is no opposite faction is just sad. There is no server where I can transfer to, so I can help balance it. And those few which are not completely monofaction yet are starting to be. This is the worst ending of a classic. Because the game is still there, but the things that make it fun are gone.

Jindo fresh pvp server has 50/50 ratio with nice world pvp experience

Not all people want to give up on chars which they may be leveled since vanilla classic.

I know, i only give an option that there is one healthy fresh pvp server. Leveling an alt could be an idea

Another post about the same topic  .

Pvp servers will always tend to be monofaction servers. That’s why retail has the Warmode + linked server system.

I am amazed ppl keep thinking “this time it’ll be different!”

But yeah, it sucks if you return and your realm is scuffed. I agree.

As someone said linked servers (or crossrealm play) was invented to “increase” realms populations, by compiling em together without deleting almost empty realms to avoid closure of dead realms and bad PR attached to that action.

Classic has quite the opposite - the overpopulation of the realms.

4-5 realms are “Overpopulated” the remaining realms are unpopular or even on the brink off death. Free transfers obviously don’t work because the Gehennas Q is still as long as it was at launch.
Mograine now has a Q aswell, because off Gehennas players transferring.
What’s next, Ashbringer?

Ppl won’t keep transferring off.

Either way… WPvP is a death concept.
It has no benefit therefor the ppl contributing is prety small.

Zabra would have told you to join Thekal, as it is still balanced and has lots of people out and about. It’s locked, however, but hopefully not for too long. We need a fresh batch of players. Especially the Horde.

I’d recommend Jin’do. It’s like Thekal, but a bit less populated. However, it is open, so I can imagine that there are perhaps more levellers (outside of Northrend).

Thekal and Jin’do are the only balanced English PvP realms at the moment, according to wowclassicpop.

Megarealms are locked, so where are they going to transfer to?

So why aren’t PvE realms overloaded then (exept Purewood Village)?

There is a thin line between enjoying wPvP and hating it for having no chance to fight back.

Because history keeps repeating and PvP servers are always more popular.
Just “To enable the option when…”. PvEplayers flock to the biggest servers for obvious reasons. These always are/will be PvP servers.

Also Pvp guilds that do BGs are never on PvE realms.

They are only popular because they became pseudo PvP de facto PvE. When one faction becomes 70%+ a snowball effect occurs with minority faction leaving via transfers and majority faction gets flooded with even more PvE players who see enemy faction disappearing.

If there would be HvH wPvP on Gehennas after 60%+ PvE players wouldn’t be so eager to join and Alliance wouldn’t be in such huge disadvantage, when Horde “rebels” and “loyalist” were at each others throats for every herb and ore node.
