it’s time you either commit to cross-faction play, or drop it altogether.
We have guilds that can be cross-faction, we have cross-faction parties and raids.
But then we can’t queue in these groups, nor can we properly talk to the other faction unless we rely on something like Elixir of Tongues.
The story sees us working together as well.
So what’s the plan now? Are we going to properly support cross-faction play?
Make orcish a racial language for Orcs
An equivalent for Humans
Make Common truly a common language between factions/players
Do not allow cross-team talk in PvP (cause we all know where this goes) [Thanks Sowee!]
Allow cross-faction invites for parties/raids without bnet requirements
allow us to queue as cross-faction groups
Keep all other languages for roleplay purposes.
make toys work across faction
Allow open-world support such as healing/spells/quests
I’m ok with different languages and some non-gameplay restrictions but not being able to queue for dungeons or LFR with my buddies because they play a different faction is so dumb…
As a roleplayer, the barrier has a huge impact on us, especially for Addons like Musician etc where you share data through links in chat. Either you spam everyone’s chat, or make a semi-functional cross-faction party…
Like…they make things needlessly complicated.
Worse even, I’d say the cross-faction implementation feels even half done, rushed.
Throw out “something” to make cross-play possible, but ignore everything around it.
I thought of a new Secondary Professions, similar system to Archeology called “Linguistics” where your character learns all known languagues as a form of establishing communications with all races. You’ll obtain titles and cosmetics along with Achievement Points.
I also think there must be a feature where you can form up party groups and be able to do quests together, queue dungeons and Battlegrounds all together.
You missed a couple. Mounts, trades and /follow cannot be used cross faction. All of which has led me to be frustrated. I made a ton of alts on horde side during remix. All to see what both sides of the game feels like. They are now sitting gathering dust.
I 200% support everything you said. Faction divide sucks, let’s dissolve the barriers so everyone can freely play with everyone. Joint raids, guilds, and M+ have completely overhauled the way I play this game, but there are still some unnecessary barriers left. Let them die!
It’s also stupid that if you’re a member of a guild, and you faction change, you’re kicked out of the guild in the process. To get back in you have to be btag friend with someone who’s got rights to invite or be in a cross faction/btag society with them.
Guild finder is still own faction only.
Just erase the faction devide as long as pvp isn’t turned on!
Originally you couldn’t even have both a horde an alliance character on the same server. Now, you can play both alliance and horde, you can have a guild with both alliance and horde players and you can talk with eachother on guild chat, battletags exist now and you can communicate via bnet chat, you can do dungeons with members of the opposite faction, you can even send crafting orders to players from opposite faction to make items for you BUT you can’t whisper them if they’re missing a reagent or something.
Yeah this is silly and pointless, the whole game changed when it comes to crossfaction play and the language barrier feels almost anachronistic now, a relic from the past that no longer fits in modern WoW.
