On Wild Growth which is a PVE server Ironforge.pro shows that the Alliance-Horde pop sits around 66-33.
This would normally be a non issue in a PVE server unless you count the people who find it kind of depressing getting a char to max on the not so active side of the server, having a PVP event that is a guaranteed win for one side all the time that directly correlates to some pre-BIS and at some cases BIS items really makes it feel like you’re shooting yourself in the knee by picking the side that loses every single time. Not because of skill, not because of poor strategy but because of sheer numbers.
It doesn’t matter how’ll they design PVP events in the future, as long as one side has twice as much people than the other you might as well not make these events.
If the Horde numbers keep dropping down like they are right now the only discovery I and many others will have is either quitting or re-rolling alliance which in itself might cause me to quit.
Lock Alliance, allow transfers idk idc, doing nothing will just kill horde no matter what. ’
Tl;dr: Faction pop imbalanced wooooooooooooow

I agree, Blizzard tried to keep factions balanced on PVP servers without considering how the PVP events would affect PVE servers. A bit of an oversight really.
And it’s not just that one side always loses, but if that side gives up and realm jumps and turns the pve realms into mono-realms, neither realm will even be able to do the pvp event.
So you chose to play on a PvE realm on your own, but you have a problem about a PvP event ? As far as I know this pvp event doesn’t give you anything of value for PvE, except a mount ? And even then, you can always queue to WSG and get the reputation there.

The pvp event gives you rep that gives you access to BiS pve items.
Edit: the reason why we have those premades ruining SoD bgs 24/7
Yeah I agree. I didnt really understood that faction balance would only be on Pvp servers. I rolled Horde on PvE server and damn I worry for the future. There is a real possibility that horde side will die in the longrun.
Except BiS weapons and a BiS cloak.
Alliance on Wild Growth is a treat as far as event goes. I’d say it’s one loss for about five wins if that.
Ok, which you can get from doing WSG ? I don’t see the problem here
It’s like arguing for the sake of arguing.
You get what 1.5k rep for 10 minutes event win vs what 200 if you win a game for that time.
People who do this event aren’t doing it because it’s fun, it’s simply superior to WSG in every possible way until Revered.
Good idea, all the people on monofaction realms can just farm WSG!
So… How do we activate the event for Alliance if there’s no Horde?
I’m not arguing because I want to. I play horde on Living Flame, I’ve won 1 event in the past 9 I participated in. I know also, that you still can get 1k rep even if you lose. But the whole rep gain is another topic. I’m am genuinely wondering why a player who purposely chose to play on a PvE realm (I have no idea about the reason, but the first that comes in my mind is that he doesn’t like PvP) is complaining about an event which is SUPPOSED to be PvP event, and was said to be long before servers were even released. So all of us knew, that these events were gonna be PvP. On top of all of that, these “bis items” you are talking about have like 1 strength and 2 agility difference from the “2nd bis” (these numbers I threw random, don’t quote me on that, but I am sure the difference is incredibly small)
All i’m gonna say is : It is already known that there will be PvP events like this in the next phases (40, 50 and 60). Blizzard already confirmed this. Right now level cap is lvl 25, which can be achieved in about 20 hours, so maybe you should reconsider going to a PvP realm for the upcoming phases, just so you dont bump into the same problem at the STV event at lvl 40. You don’t need the BFD gear for next phase or for leveling, its gonna be irrelevant anyways, you don’t need gold as well, as you are going to be able to make 5x times more gold at lvl 40 cap than you are able to know.
N.B. This comment is like an advice, not that you asked for it, but its purpose is not supposed to defend Blizzard or something.
Then you clearly lack knowledge of other classes, this event is a great way to gear up with some pre-BIS and in some cases BIS. Ring for Rogues is one example I know of. Pretty decent if you don’t want to rely on BOE’s.
Also other than the rep grind taking way longer it clearly is felt in the open world when for every 3 alliance there’s 1 horde.
It feels bad being on the “dying” side of the server whether it affects you power wise or not.
I thinj they couldnt rly apply the faction balance lock to every server without uproar. You have to give players freedom sonewhere really.
True, but then the PVP event is locked away based on kills so they’re going to have to set it to a timer on those servers instead of having it based on activity.
I guess it’s untended because people have faction preferences and there is only one server. Was also quite clear during the 2019 run that PvP-horde and PvE-alliance correlate, both for thematic and racial skill reasons.
Are there any issues beside PvP events?
If there would be a way to get around the costs of rolling on the opposite faction, I wouldn’t mind being a mercenary now and then. Could say the same about the PvP events in general.
Especially if I can play a blood elf paladin
Well it’s left to be seen in future phases…
If the Horde pop keeps dropping doing dungeon/raid content will become significantly inconvenient cause finding a group might become much more of a hassle, the economy obviously would suffer unless the alliance would grant us their gracious resources through the neutral AH.
And obviously if the future PVP events continues being a system where you need to kill X amount of stuff to fill up the % to initiate the event winning and losing won’t be much of a worry cause there wouldn’t be any event to begin with.
Also that notion of Horde = PVP, Alliance = PVE doesn’t seem to be necessarily true as most servers seem to be Alliance dominant number wise. Not like in Wild Growth but still worrisome for the future of some servers.
Ironforge.pro shows that on average across all EU servers it’s 56-43 in favor of Alliance.
Again, maybe it’s too early to doom and gloom but it’s also the time to be wary about this kind of stuff. Faction dominated servers have been one of the deaths of OG classic.
It was a bit discouraging in the beginning, losing AV all the time. But you still get decent rep. However, we will have our revenge.
What are you talking about? On Wild Growth horde just stack on 1 layer and win.
All servers pop dropping down. Wild growth will be ok as only pve server (equals to “not a such shthole as living flame”)
Doing pvp and ashenvale in particular at this point has no sense as you can get gear elswhere.
I’m playing at wild growth horde too and will be playing there. Have nothing to worry about.
Also, in terms of population, relying on a some rusian website like ironforge is a bad idea. Those numbers are either random or plain fake to boost rusian rmt
