Since the last post I created so carefully got hilariously ignored, this time with fewer words, since those seem to scare people:
What do you guys think about fanfiction?
Who of you writes WoW fanfiction?
(quite a few of you mentioned something like it in Pax’s “rl job” thread)
Where do you post / read your fanfiction?
Do you have fanfiction to recommend?
(and I’m not talking about that kind of “fanfiction” which simply picks a random amount of well known lore characters and tosses them together into a bed, despite it being completely out of character for those figures)
I like official lore and the books they have released. I have not read them all, but the ones I have read I liked. I am going to buy the Sylvanas book when it is released next year. I have never read any fanfiction because I worry it might have adult content, and I do not really want to read that.
I do write stories about my own characters within the Warcraft universe, I am not sure if that counts at all. Where the stories are based on my own roleplay, so it is a sort of recap of my own adventures.
I do not post my writing anywhere, nor do I ever think I will. My English is not perfect, so I am not going to want to do that at all.
I do not read fanfiction as I worry of adult content. Not my cup of tea.
I never saw your previous post, wouldn’t have ignored it if I had
It can be fun, there are some talented people out there and I love to read so it’s natural to read fanfiction from time to time.
Not really, I do write but never really written any fanfiction let alone wow fanfiction although I did start one a few months ago, it was going to be a kind of response to another forums posters epic fanfiction where I believe they are going to either horrendously torture of kill off my old forum posting character but that person still hasn’t finished theirs.
If they ever do I might write mine and post it in the story section for everyone to laugh at.
Edit to this: I do actually like to make up my own random bits of lore on the forums from time to time too, not quite fanfiction but can be funny I think.
For wow fanfiction, the story forums here. Other fanfictions I tend to come across on various forums I’m browsing, I remember years ago when I first got into Animal Crossing there was a fantastic one on one of the many fan forums, still gives me chills thinking of that story actually lol. I’m sure there are other, maybe better places to look too.
If you want a story about loads of the forumers I do suggest giving Souldefilers epic a read, its entertaining and hilarious. It’s over on the story sub section of the forums.
Now a question to you: Do you write fanfiction yourself?
I like it if elements of the story are left unfinished on purpose, all the more possibilities to make fictions or RP. Especially true for the old game where information was scarce.
I only RP here on the forums, which likely won’t count, but I did write a backstory for this character once.
I already have a forum RP character whose whole thing is just being mean to Soul though. In fact you would be surprised how many forum RP characters there are hiding around the place
Know the feeling. Most fanfiction forums I know do work with tags, though, so usually it’s marked if the story constains such stuff… altough it also depends on the definition.
I’d say that totally counts. Fanfiction just takes an existing universe and writes a story depending on that setting; at least that’s how I understand it.
I can only tell you one thing: the more you write, the better you become. My english is far from perfect too, but I’ve decided that I don’t want this to stop me from maybe sharing my writings with people who could like it.
It’s still somewhere down there °scrollnoises°; but I guess it also was a bit misinterpreted by some who read it.
Ouch. ;O
Meh, I’m more into non-rl related fanfiction… or serious ingame world writings. But thanks!
Yes. Since I returned after my hiaturs from WoW that’s basically my main reason to keep playing.
I’m posting on AO3 (Archive of our Own); should be possible to find my stories if you search for the name of my forums character here.
I’m mainly writing about elves / the alliance. My character are all adults and therefore talk about adult stuff and do adult stuff (besides other things), but I’m not describing the exchange of body fluids (like sadly most other posts there do).
Yes there are! (apart from mine, I found a few others before).
i believe the last person i have ever seen writing ‘‘fanfiction’’ has to be that rogue called sylvanaswindrunner or something like that, i wonder what happenend to that person… it was one of the few forum regulars back in the day
I was about to chime in but my fan fiction is usually either from player who is transported into his/her character.
Or a random adventurer who doesn’t exist in game for us but is very much around, dealing with the issues we never hear about but are very real. Like the clean up operations after battles to fight plague, the goblin brothel which killed all its punters etc etc.
I also done one about a troll warrior creating a sort of ‘samurai’ way after spending a few years with the pandaren.
Other than that it dives into down right smut. - which I often get the misses to proof read so it’s not total garbage for females.
Since I’m a RP’er, I like to create my own fanfiction stories. I love creating my own stories for my WoW characters and where they started, to where they are now. I do have them talking with the lore characters, but I don’t play that off as canon in-game or in character.
I’ve started my very intricate and controversial story for my Nightborne Warlock. She was one who supported the Legion’s arrival during the WoTA but believed the Highborne should be the masters of demons, not the other way round.
It’s quite fun to write that she was in slight agreement with Xavius and Azshara, in terms of introducing fel magic to the Highborne, but she didn’t approve of servitude to the demons.
She also comes from Vashjir, so she also remembers Lady Vashj.
I’ve copied and pasted the below from the story. This takes place only nights after Azshara kills the Court of Farondis: As she looked down on the shattered region of Azsuna, Valistri San’drell could only utter one word, “Fools.” Her belief was resolute and any who thought that sending the demons back through the portal, deserved death, a hundred times over. Indeed, in this instance, Valistri supported Azshara’s actions, but that is as far as it went. The mere idea that the Highborne of Zin-Azshari were kneeling before these magical creatures was simply absurd. How could the Queen lower herself to such pitiful standards? Why should the Highborne, the greatest sorcerers in this world, willingly serve the demons when they should serve them?
