Farming Tips for tokens

im a student and I don’t have a job
Im new to legion. my first login yesterday since 2015 (wod) so im not understanding whats happening around me
lvl 110 using character boost and i dont have BFA
green gear
18 days of sub remaining
can play a few hours (maybe 3-4) per day
token is +190k on my server yesterday last checked

I want to know what i should do and where to start to farm gold for tokens. do the quests and just follow the story line or do old raids? and what professions should i switch too. im currently a miner/BS but i read that people say herbalism/alchemy brings alot of gold

i felt so lost when i logged in yesterday and i need some tips on how to begin. and i want to know a predicted amount of gold/hour for any suggested strategies to farm gold for tokens

thank you

On Level 110 it might be hard because unless you have large starting gold to invest and your server has a good enough economy that enables you to flip stuff.

Herbs are incredibly lucrative atm. The common herbs in Najz sell a lot. Just keep in mind there’s bots and multi boxers farming them too (only 5 characters can tap a node).

Zin’s sell for 70-80g per herb on my server atm (base herb used for Flasks and Potions). That’s 14+k a stack.

OP doesnt have bfa though…

Oh.

Probably old enchants for heirlooms then I suppose. Plenty of people levelling, some of them going for 5k each…

It’s not a guarantee sale though compared to current stuff. :frowning:

Pandaria mining is also good;

It’s possible to earn this amount by farming old world mats but it’ll take you some time.

Grab mining and herbalism on a druid above lvl 100 and fly around the Cata zones. Mine everything in sight (focus on obsidium and pyrite, elementium is barely worth anything) and herbs. The Cata herbs sell for nearly 4 times more than the usual BFA herbs.

If you’ve put a bunch of cata mats on the AH and it didn’t sell yet, diversify yourself by farming other mats (I’d suggest Legion ore & herbs > Wotlk ore > BC ore & herbs > Mop ore) as just focusing on a few items could be a disaster for you (one angry competitor and all your time will be wasted)

Here’s a cool “guide” (well more like personnal experience from someone who does a gold farming challenging with gathering prof) i really suggest you read it.

Edit : Another challenge from the same player but from a classic player perspective with no gold making experience and with but a lvl 110 character over a month

These farm work, but are not optimal.

You can also try the raw gold farms if you have multiple 110 characters :

It’s really time consumming but it will work for any server. If your AH is dead then this may be your last hope

The easiest option for BFA would be to farm herbs but it’ll require flying to be efficient and you don’t have enough time to get pathfinder.

I’d suggest either to levelup a DH, gear him with catchup gear and farm leather. It does not require flying and you can expect to get a token in about 10~15h of farm if you do it seriousely.

For instance with 450ilvl gear and all the additional systems you have in BFA i get about 25k gold per hour farming snapdragons in Nazjatar for dredged leather (about 20g each on my server) and cooking (bil’tong requires 0.8 of the meat you get from the snapdragons each and sell for about 50g on my server). Got my hands on slightly more than 600 leather and 100 meat in 30min of killing everything in sight altho it could be much higher if there were more players around (increase the spawn rate)

Once again it’s extremely server depandant. It works on mine because it has an active raiding community but without it the leather would be worthless.

Hardly sell on my server altho very profitable. Unless there’s a lot of competition and folks keep on relisting after i post my stuff which is also possible

thank you for your reply. that ia alot of things and i couldnt recognise most of the things you told me to farm as i havent touched retail since wod and im not even familiar with pre wod also.

i forgot to mention that im a classic wow player. just playing retail to farm gold for tokens to resub and keep playing classic without paying $15/month.

i watched some youtube videos about players running old dungeons and farming volatile something i dont know what that is. that is the simplest thing i see i could do. if i need to farm mats and trade goods then i have to know which zones. if i learn herbalism i have to lvl it up from starter zones?

i wil check those links later

The Gold per hour announced in these videos if often inacurate and no longer relevant (the market change all the time and the creators usually inflate the prices. Also by the time a video is made about a farm a lot of casual gold farmers swarm the farm and make it less profitable) so take it with a grain of salt.

One of the links i shared is exactly about your situation. He managed to earn 8 tokens in a month, but to be fair it would already be good enough if you get 4 albeit totally doable.

These are the elemental crafting ressources you get from cataclysm zones. They are worth quite a bit and obtained while mining some ores, skinning mobs, gathering herbs or killing elemental mobs. There’s also the “potion of treasure finding” which gives you some every so often as you kill cata mobs.

That’s indeed simple but i still strongly recommand you try the gathering way rather than the dungeons. Just farming dungeons / raid will slow you down quite a bit (for instance doing all the WoD raids and vendoring everything should only give you about ~6 or 7k gold per hour. Gathering ore / herbs can easily net you twice as much and isn’t in a weekly lockout)

Good luck anyway, the links are pretty detailled so you shouldn’t have any issues. Feel free to ask if you have a question tho

Alright, if you only need gold for the sub, and you need it fast then disregard everything said and go to the Vale of Eternal Blossom and do the raw gold farm. It will yield about 20k/hour and all you need to do is literally afking if there is a monk there. I strongly suggest watching a video before you do so, to optimize everything.

what do i farm there exactly? could you please explain what i should do?
thank you

You go to the golden stairs and kill the stone dogs. If you do it right around 10 will spawn in like every 5 sec. You loot every item they drop and simply vendor them (beside the keys). If you got around 300-400 keys you can go to the Gou-Lai halls and you can open the chests there. Each chest drops avg. 30 gold so that is ~9k gold. Rest of the 20k comes from the vendor thresh.

Those “gold/hour” things are just daft. You’d be doing more out of your time if you’d just actually do work and pay accordingly, be it for sub time or gold via Tokens.

i forgot to mention im a student and i dont have a job

Start picking apples! :stuck_out_tongue:

ok blizzard just ruined the golden stairs lion farm today. the lions stopped dropping loot. but managed to do 5k g

what other farming methods available?
or just $15 per month for classic :(?

No. You get Legion Herbalism, and Kul’Tiran herbalism, etc.

However, I’d suggest that getting BfA would make you a lot more gold. The herb market is… extortionate, frankly. I don’t know how people can choose any other profession because I for one would be bankrupt.

im not interested in buying anything retail. im only playing classic. doing some retail on the side with whatever I have to make gold for tokens. I only have legion now and 110 warrior

If your not intrested in retail then i doubt you will have the motivation to get to a wow token

Get a job, its a shorter grind
