because WoW wasn’t made with fast travel points every 100 yards in mind. most games aren’t.
because of the degenerate behaviour you see in GW2 - where going from quest mob to quest mob, you instant mount onto your raptor, leap, dismount, repeat.
so whole rest of the game is fine or good but you can’t play it because of no zoomer fast travel and 1.5 second mount cast? bro
Because wow doesn’t want you to be on the mount all the time, and sometimes use your class mobility. Or you know, just walk, npc is 5 meters from you, why are you constantly pressing mount button
The gameplay has already damaged due to the gogo mentality.
People want to hit top level in a day and run dungeons without blinking.
If anything the game should be slowing its pace down. What’s the point putting so much effort in to how it look and feels if nobody wants to pause for a moment and take it all in.
While i agree that the mountsystem and waypoint system work great for Guild Wars 2 and i love that they are in there, i really wouldnt want to see them in WoW.
Blizzard took inspiration from GW2’s mount system with Skyriding and managed to make that work, we dont need more than that.
WoW is WoW and GW2 is GW2, both are great games because they have their own identity.
Use google and Youtube to find locations, it’s all there.
Switching flight?
There is no reason for you to be switching flight, you either choose skyriding for speed or steady flight if you aren’t in a hurry.
You should be switching flight like two times a week maximum.
Also, mage can teleport nearly anywhere, maybe you should give that class a try.
The game is already too fast paced. For any distance longer than 50m / 50yds, it is faster to get on a flying mount than do it on foot even with some sprint ability.
Blizzard never does anything really with open world and after first patch its then completely obsolete except maybe new world boss.
Also 99.9% of all the open world is completely useless and forgotten after leveling and even leveling in open world is pointless when you can just sit in one tile in capital and just spam dungeons.
There has been literally zero innovation for open world for nearly 2 decades other than maybe 1 or 2 things other than that open world is after pvp the most neglected thing in this game which to me is extremely sad because wow’s open world is to me the best part of the game if it would get more love.
There are other MMO’s with open world that has way more value and fun to be had than wow where only point is boring grinds and gathering ore/flowers.
Depends what you want. Raids/dungeons i agree but for open world it blows wow 100-0 mostly because blizzard seems to have no ability to make open world content other than new expansion leveling and isle of quel’danas 28.0.0…
Imagine they had like on map click teleportation - jesus would that destroy the game. Edit: honestly, it’s good as it is now. They can chill even a bit with teleportation.
True.
Remember ye olde days when you’d have to plan a journey. You consider the various options and decide on what seemed easier / quicker.
Flight Master to Menthil Habour, Boat Rachet, Boat from the other dock to Booty Bay, ride up over to Deadwind pass and on to where ever.
You had to remember the boats and where portals were (the one upstairs in Dalaran to Caverns of Time was handy too).
It did make the world a lot more immersive although I do enjoy the convenience of contempory travel.
A lot of my alts have their Hearth set to Dalaran as there is a portal to SW in the room next to the Inn.
As i expected, zero intelligent thoughts, just another lengthy rant about nothing in particular.
If they don’t value their open world, why they make every new zone so detailed and packed with quests and activities? If there is no innovations in 2 decades then what is phasing, wqs, world events and skyriding?
I don’t care about your gripes of old zones being irrelevant, it doesn’t mean that they don’t value open world, it’s just how the game works in it’s lifecycles.
