Fastest way to get weapons for all specs?

I’d like to get weapons for my alts, around the same level of the benthic tokens. On most alts I picked the weapon for the spec I was using at that time (from the nazjatar intro quest), but on some of them I have since changed my mind and I’m having a bit of trouble finding out what the right weapon type is and how to get it. On my druid I’m trying to go balance but I first need a staff for it (or is dagger/wand + offhand better?) and getting a drop from dungeons seems to be pretty rare. What would be the fastest way to go about getting a weapon? (I’ve been out of the gearing loop hence why I ask)

Taking a guess here: spam the m+ dungeons that drop desired weapons. And maybe the pvp cap reward aswell?

Dropped a 390 and 385 just from world quests. You can probably also get them from emissary weapon caches. I’d say these are the two quickest ways. I say quickest because I ran dungeons for half a day yesterday and didn’t even drop so much as a sock.

Horde have had 3 in 2 weeks (weapon caches ) and Alliance have had none and the OP is Alliance :worried:

Ouch, that sucks. I don’t play alliance, so I wasn’t sure how it worked. I figured we all just got them at the same time or something

Nah that’d make far too much sense. Can’t have that. :joy:

Yeah I tried dungeons yesterday on my horde druid and didn’t get the weapon, did the LFR’s, still no weapon. Don’t like M+ and benthic gear is probably too low to be accepted in a group, so I’m sticking to hc dungeons/lfr/wq’s. Also need to do this on multiple characters, so that doesn’t make it much easier.

Is there any way to figure out what the best weapon setup is for a spec? Like for a fire mage, do I go staff or spell blade and offhand? For some of the specs there’s a bis list (on icy veins) where I can figure it out, but for some there isn’t.

I can’t think of any situation where there could be a “best” weapon configuration for casters like Fire. Compare your stats on the staff with the total of the mainhand/offhand, and that’s it, really. I had a staff, and kept a sword that was better (but one-handed), in the chance that a really good offhand would drop. The moment I get an offhand whose stats combined with the sword exceeds the staff, I will switch.

Oh so there’s no set in stone weapon config for casters and melee druids? I’m asking because I thought this has been the case since Legion Artifact weapons( eg frost mage staff, fire mage mainhand and offhand, tank & feral druid fist weapons).

No, it was just that the artefact for each spec was of a specific form, and was obviously BiS, so that’s what everyone used. Now the artefacts are gone, we revert to the way things were. As a mage, I currently use a staff in all three specs.

There are, of course, the usual former DPS implications for melee, but I haven’t kept up with the likes of Rogue and Monk and FDK.

ye noticed it too - horde is also getting much more equipement emissaries

as someone with mostly horde alts i dont complain

Conquest is pretty easy to farm through War mode drop chest, invasions and daily BG/Brawl.

The first reward is a 410 weapon and you earn all the skins your class which is pretty cool (the horde ones are gorgeous tbh, the horde Gladiator warglaives are some of the best available in game imo)

Wait for emissary that awards weapons, seems to be the best way to supply all my 11 chars with weapons

Not just the weapon!
But bis azerite and trinkets and every slot too!

It’s on wowhead, choose class, then gear section

For feral druid i seem to be mostly getting polearms in open world content (might have had staff for a while too).

And while you wait try to get your average ilvl as high as you can because those emissary rewards scale by ilvl so then your new weapon will be higher ilvl.

It’s been absolutely crazy last weeks with that. My head is humming from all the humming azerite shards there is as reward every dang day (ok i think last few days we also had equipment cache). Luckily i also run a hoarde of horde alts so never really suffering that much when luck turns wrong way.

Good luck playing as alliance getting something …damn this azerite rewards…

The weapon itself is irrelevant. Its the ilevel and stats it has that makes it usable.

Take myself. Its largely irrelevant that I use a pole arm over a staff. What I care about is what the stats on it are. Atm I’m making do with what I have because it’s all I could get (not a fan on Conquest grinding).

But for me, way rest manor drops a staff, and tol dagor a pole arm which are both better (assuming equal or better ilevel as I don’t want to lose wep damage) as they have secondary stats I prefer.

This is the way most weapons work now as all 2h for example have exactly the same dps, attack speed etc assuming same ilevel, same for 1h Maces etc and 1h daggers. With casters the difference between a staff and 1h off hand is largely one of preference as I believe their stats add up to the same.

I think the only class that has a genuine “weapon dilemma” may be outlaw rogues as to whether they use a dagger in off hand or not, as their mastery strike is not affected by weapon damage as far as I am aware (I may be wrong here, anyone correct me if so), if this is so a rogue may want a dagger in OH for more frequent attacks and mastery procs to fish for energy regen. This is assuming mastery works as I said.
Of course, rogue wowhead has probably worked this out and makes a clear recommendation as to whether a slow/fast OH works best.

No other class really has this dilemma. It’s pic kthe weapon with the best stats or if weapon damage is your most desired stat (like WW monk) then you take the highest ilevel most of the time due to higher wep damage irrespective of whether its a mace, fist or whatever.

easiest would be emissary. But it requires luck.

easy would be LFR.

medium would be mythic dungeons.

I was able to get some weapons on my alts from those assaults and some of the emissaries. On my main horde alt I got a 425 weapon from one of the 415 emissaries as it titanforged.

I would say to do the emissaries that offer 415 gear, the 430 warfront, and the assaults.

Hmm yeah I don’t seem to have luck on my alts.
About the weapon thing, I would swear I remember there was something about certain classes being able to use weapons that weren’t really effective for them, but they could still use them, don’t know where I picked this up.

I know it’s not just weapons you have to change between specs, but since I’m not really looking to do end game content any time soon the only thing I care about is the weapon for now. Trinkets, rings and azerite gear spawn often enough on WQ’s to not really have to bother doing dungeons or anything else.

I guess I’ll just wait for the weapons to pop up on emissaries and WQ’s to gear my characters, currently stuck in outlaw because I don’t have daggers for Assass, stuck in feral because I don’t have a staff/ mainhand offhand and need better weapons on my DH who’s still using a 355 fist weapon from a world quest.
