Fatigue from the current meta

So far it seems like most players across the board are enjoying the fast-pace in arena. Or are they ? Lets face it, as a player you are faced with a limited number of options for what you can do in a 2 second kill window in which you or your partner can go 100-0 hp in a flash. No trinket equals dead for many. Throw in GCD and your options to react with a positive outcome are even lower. This leaves select classes/racials/specs who have options that deal well with these kill windows.

In short if you did not roll some meta friendly classes/specs/racials you may as well stop playing now. What if you are loyal to your faction/class/spec ? How long before the fatigue sets in ? In my experience, I’ve met many close to their limit over the last few weeks. I had a healer tell us he is quitting after we killed 2 players on the other team twice to win a match (Pod Tender not attackable glitch). A couple of them reacted the same way to being one shot in less than 2 seconds by either convoke or rogue burst or something else.I keep hearing the same thing from other players, “there is nothing I can do, I quit”.

So, what can be done to fix this. Im tempted to say , nerf nerf nerf but I think the answer is to buff buff buff. Here are my suggestions.

  1. Remove GCD on defensive abilities. Make it so players have multiple spells to use in that small 2 second window.

  2. Equalise the faction advantages from racial abilities. e.g. Allow Orc racials to stack with trinkets and other abilities. Stunlock is too Overpowered when combined with insanely high burst meta. They are a toxic combination. Give us some options blizzard, besides a trinket on a 2 minute cd.

  3. Buff the defensive abilities across the board. 10% damage reduction for a cooldown is too little , there are plenty examples of this and they should all be buffed to 40-50% reduction minimum in the current meta.

  4. Relook at things that break the game. You know what I am referring too …

As a healer i can honestly say im not enjoying the current meta any more. Dying or losing team mates instantly from 70% got old pretty fast and because of this you see the same 3-4 classes EVERY SINGLE game in 2v2. I can only imagine how derpy the game is in 3s right now so i have barely even bothered. Why is it so hard to TWEAK certain classes abilities by 5-10% to remove the skillless one shot swifty play style. Heck even start the games at 50% dampening if you want to keep the games short :woman_shrugging:

Use ur bankai

Podtender > Bankai :frowning:

*not using any defensive cds when the enemy is using all his offensive cds equals dead for many yes

what?

there are many many many specs viable right now. I dont think we had that many viable specs in bfa at any point so this is just false. Racials doesnt matter if you dont play tournament level btw.

podtender needs to be removed from i agree.

which is the wrong attitude because i can guarantee you there are many things “he could do”.

so make orcs even more overpowered ? what? thats not making sense. better buff other racials

:joy: no

tldr: get gud

I’ve fallen victim to this fatigue myself, current PvP is just not fun to me.
Personally I’ve chosen to just skip this PvP season and wait until later in the expansion to try again, when people have higher HP pools and gear starts to matter more.

Something they can do, but won’t do:
Disable covenant abilities/talents in PvP.
Podtender and “Convoke the Elements” and similar abilities (although fun for PvE) simply don’t mesh with PvP. Trying to scale them differently in PvP (Deals X less dmg in PvP) is a fool’s errand.
I haven’t seen a single covenant ability in PvP where I felt like it belonged.
I’ve heard complaints from a bunch of people where they say “I wanna play X covenant, but it sucks in PvP” or vice-versa for PvE. Restricting the use of covenant stuff for PvE would make those choices a whole lot easier.

Something they might do
The PvP trinkets give 40% more vers for damage and healing, but why doesn’t it increase the “% less dmg taken” with 40%? Somebody with 20% vers would see an increase of 4% in dmg reduction. Probably not gonna help at all, but it’s something. It would make stacking vers a viable option.

I play mostly healers and people are simply out-damaging my healing.
I fake cast their interrupt, but spamming heals isn’t out-performing their damage.
A lot of healing legendaries are more catered towards mythic+ or raiding (spread more, 1k absorb every X sec), while the majority of DPS legendaries are just a raw dmg increases.

I dont think the higher gear will do much cos the abilities also scale with gear. Agree with the Verse stacking but I don’t see it doing much more than the current 20% verse most of us are at, word is the cap will be around 30% so this may only be a 10% increase.
