Feedback 11.0.2 Patch Notes - Removing Holy Infusion (Holy Paladin) will likely decrease healer participation

For those unaware, Holy Infusion will be removed next week with the balancing update. What that means is the following talent will be gone:

Holy Infusion

  • Crusader Strike (1st skill attack) generates 1 additional Holy Power and deals 25% more damage

At first this may sound like not a big deal, but it is. It massively affects the offensive healing playstyle for Holy Paladin with the Avenging Wrath subversion “Avenging Crusader” (the one that heals when using certain attacks).

Not only will it mean that 1 out of 3 skills during Avenging Wrath will deal 25% LESS healing to all players receiving it. It also deals 25% LESS damage than now and doesn’t grant 1 additional point of HP, which is required for this playstyle to keep up healing with Word of Glory and Light of Dawn more frequently.

Alongside all those other nerfs for healing, removing this talent will gradually discourage the offensive healing playstyle that makes Holy Paladin so unique.

I spent the last month preparing all sorts of transmogs and gear items for the start of the expansion to play as Holy spec. Now, after knowing all the nerfs, buffs and talent removes, I think I don’t really want to play Holy in S1 at all.

I guess I go back to playing Retribution again, because apparently, you (Blizzard), want Paladin not to be good at healing in general.

I said multiple times in the past that this game has too many healers that are casters. And yet again you nerf a spec that allows players to focus on melee and healing at the same time, essentially forcing Holy Paladins to focus a lot more on casting heals again than spending Holy Power for them.

As a footnote for the devs, remember, you are developing the game FOR US, not for yourself. I don’t remember any player ever asking “yeah, remove that talent from Paladins, it’s broken!”. Which makes the entire removal even more of a headscratch.

Blizzard has ABANDONED paladins.

We are the worst performing healers in PVE and PVP yet they continue to nerf us to the ground.

Clearly Microsoft doesn’t understand that paladin should be a CORE class in all roles.

Microsoft doesn’t do :poop: in development. They don’t care how you develop your games. They care that you make them money.

This is on Blizzards side.

you think you have it bad… try playing a DK

Blizzard has hated Paladins long before Microsoft has ever entered the chat, and Holy Paladins in particular. I still remember them nerfing HPal core abilities back in SL, when the OP Ashen Hallow was the main reason why Paladin was meta, not because Paladins were too powerful in any other department.

During DF development there has been lots of very constructive feedback on the talent trees, and Paladins have not received a single line of communication from Blizzard, let alone decent changes to the talent trees.
There are certain classes like Paladin, Shaman or Monk that might “accidentally” end up powerful, but are generally ignored or treated unfairly by Blizzard. Just look at the 11.0.2 Windwalker changes - nerfs across the board, and Windwalker is not even that good to begin with, sitting well behind specs like Fury.

We only know Blizzard only go by metrics and don’t actually play the game, but no one really knows where those metrics are taken from.

Its like healers actualy just want to heal and no do dmg so yeah. Literaly reason why i would enver play palading healer is becouse it revolves around you being in meele doing dmg.

I totally get where you’re coming from. Since healers were pushed into needing to DPS, the game hasn’t felt the same. It used to be that healers could focus entirely on keeping the group alive, which felt more rewarding and true to the role. Now, it feels like there’s this constant pressure to be in melee range or weaving in DPS spells, which just isn’t what a lot of us signed up for.

Take paladin healers, for example—they’re expected to be up in the action, dealing damage while healing, and it’s just not appealing to everyone. I miss the days when healing was purely about strategic positioning and keeping everyone alive, without needing to worry about contributing to the DPS as well. The shift in focus has definitely changed the game, and not necessarily for the better.

Back in the day, like your example, I always positioned myself near the ranged DPS, having a clear view of the whole bossfight and pending actions like when to run or move to another location.
Before the boss fight, we had talks like who is the dedicated healer of the tank, and who heals the DPS.
I really enjoyed being a holy pala then, until we were forced to do DPS too.
You guys still have a spot in my heart but I rather play this one now for healing.

DF S1 prot paladins were most broken tanks in M+.
DF S2 holy paladins were a part of famous GOD COMP.
DF S3 retri paladins were most popular DPS class in high (25+) M+.

“Blizzard has AbAnDoNeD paladins”

If this is what “abandoned” looks, then what really happened for example to poor shamans.
