Hunter’s lack of defensive options in PvE is a big problem right now, they took our old defensives because they had design issues instead gave us a 40% DR cooldown and a new tenacity pet ability they also increased our HP and now we are a big HP pool for the healers to fill.
we do have defensives but all of them are on long CDs and feel bad to press. our self heal ability Exhilaration is also on a long cooldown, has a GCD and does not scale with Versatility most of our survivability comes from avoiding damage sadly Feign Death and Aspect of the Turtle don’t work 100% of the time as we expect sometimes the damage still goes through our turtle or Feign death doesn’t finish fast enough to drop casts so here some suggestions from me and what I’ve heard of from other hunters on how to fix this issue:
- Feign Death target casting drop delay removed (just normal cast not channeling)
- Instead of making us spend 8 mandatory talent points to reduce the CD and slightly buff our defensives bake some of those passives into the base talents and give us better options
- Exhilaration being off GCD and healing scaled with versatility
- Bringing back the SL conduit Resilience of the Hunter (Feign Death giving you a DR) conduit as a choice node with Survival of the Fittest here is an example:
Survival of the Fittest:
reduces damage taken by 40% for 6 seconds and increases healing taken by 10%
OR
Resilience of the Hunter:
When Feign Death ends, you take 10% reduced damage for 4 sec.
and both talents can be upgraded by a single talent like this:
Random Talent Name:
Survival of the Fittest and Resilience of the Hunter damage reduction increased by an additional 10% and lasts 2 more seconds.
- Removing pet family abilities and adding them as Talents also making Bloodlust Baseline to stop pet summoning/swapping during encounters losing on Damage or Defensive options and also making use of other PvP talents like Roar of Sacrifice to have more use in PvE
for Tenacity pet it can be another choice node requiring or not requiring a pet:
Roar of Sacrifice:
Roar of sacrifice reduces target damage taken by X amount requires a pet
OR
Fortitude of the Bear (Passive)
when you fall below 30% your maximum health by 20% for 10 sec, and instantly heals you for that amount and doesn’t require a pet

same function as it does in Live
OR
Random Talent Name 2:
Aspect of the Cheetah makes you immune to movement impairing effects for 3 seconds
- One last thing, Hunters do not have any Passive Defensives and we are just a big pool of health points at least give us the option to fill our HP bar like demon hunters our weakness is against Unavoidable damages and DoTs and we need some passive damage reduction to mitigate them, so here some Ideas:
BM hunters benefiting from their ferocity leech pets
Sentinel Owl
grants your party 10% leech and magical damage reduction by 5% for 12 seconds.
passive: while sentinel owl is not active it reduces physical damage taken by 5%
Ferocity pets giving healing taken, Cunning pet giving us Slow resistance and Tenacity pet giving us damage reduction added to their passive ability
Aspect of the turtle removing DoTs from you
Mending Bandage added to class tree healing increased by 100% when cast on yourself (mostly to remove dots)
