Yes some punishment for dying adds a sense of danger to the world. Btw a 30 second corpse run is nothing compared to how some other MMOs handled death in the past, imagine losing HOURS of progress after dying once. If you could instantly rez or have infinite health it would make the world boring.
- Can’t see how faster res makes the world more boring, please explain?
- See bottom paraphrase below
Not sure if you misread it on purpose or w/e but it could be argued even further. There are many other time sinks in Vanilla/Classic which makes corpse run the least of your problem. Repetitive rep-farms (yet-again) is one thing keeping me away from classic.
Like I get it, you might like corpse running but I’d rather get back in action to enjoy the game than running miles through various obstacles if you died on a bad place (which happens and that isn’t gonna take you 10sec). Same thing goes with progressing raid content and where you waste so much time getting back to the boss.
And to clear w/e confusion or putting words in my mouth I’ll repeat. I’m not asking for instant res, I’m asking for a faster spirit res travel time which we even had for most parts in TBC.
Honestly I find corpse running easier in classic because all those zones are designed with only ground travel in mind so it’s easier to get around on foot.
In some much more recently added zones there are often large impassable obstacles, clearly designed so that when you do unlock flying you not only feel liberated, you can also access parts of the map you could not before. However a side effect of this is when you die you could end up at a graveyard that is many long u-turns away from your corpse, which can make corpse running lengthy and tedious.
Don’t play Classic as I had my time when it was current 14 years ago, but i’m intrigued, are the Graveyards the same as early WoW (as in only two for the entire barrens) or are they more plentiful now…I remember taking forever when dying in the barrens and having to corpserun back, not to mention they speeded it up as well at some point.
To be honest. There is no logic in a grounded spirit form. No roleplay truth. Why would a ghost follow the rules of Pathfinder? Why can’t the ghost travel at faster speeds when there is no armour or baggage to slow it down? They even removed Night Elf Wisp form in Shadowlands and that made me very sad.
That…really sucks!
Was there a reason given for this? It’s a racial so it’s strange that it’s disabled. It’s not as if you’re any less of a nelf because you’re in Shadowlands.
No clue, heard nothing about it, ever. Had my main die once, then felt a very sour taste in my mouth when I saw it was not the little Wisp form, but rather a ugly half body.
Oh dear, a consequence for our actions, take it out of game lol!
Specially since in games like runescape you lose everything except 3 items you’re carrying
imagine losing all your gold because you died of fall dmg o_O
Another constructive reply, did you even read the post or just the headline?
You can safeguard 5 items though and other things to negate that and besides it’s quite a different game to WoW in other aspects. I just don’t see what the long corpse run add’s to the game and haven’t got an answer for that either, unless you have one?
And I’ll repeat once again, I’m not asking for instant res, simply to make the corpse run faster or improved than it currently is which should be a moot point to argue against.

I’m not asking for instant res, simply to make the corpse run faster
Theres a potion that increases speed while dead by 100% in shadowlands now
Yeah seen a lot more alliance with WM on than horde. Especially in the maw.

And thus, every time I get into said spirit form, I’m reminded on why I could be playing another game that is more respecting of my time when I want to enjoy myself.
Enjoy Fortnite, mate.
they should add a flying boost button for 10sec with like 5min cd for when you manage to die in unreachable spots.
Otherwise it’s all good with spirit walking
