Feedback corpse running

Been playing ever since late TBC and one thing that I’ve never really understood is the reasoning behind why it takes so long to “resurrect” in current expansion.

There are so many things that has changed in WoW’s time since its inception and a bunch of the occurring updates added/changed to the game is often to make it faster/accessible. Corpse run was pretty logical to have during Vanilla times and a few expansions thereafter for various reasons but not so much today and feels really weird for an expansion like Shadowlands.

What I mean by that is, when we die and get into our spirit form, my personal expectations is that we can fly and travel quite a bit faster than the current speed of bare-foot running. And thus, every time I get into said spirit form, I’m reminded on why I could be playing another game that is more respecting of my time when I want to enjoy myself.

Like I get it, you’ll open a box of new things to hurdle and perhaps a hard time fixing various stuff if you allow flying in spirit form. But a possible solution to the problem could be to “just” remake the spirit ghost to something VERY generic (graphical wise) which is not a copy of yourself. Reason for that would be to avoid issues that makes the spirit ghost look funny when wearing certain transmogs as an example. So instead of allowing FFA 360° flying (which could be problematic on other levels as well), you could simply allow much faster running speed and make it look like you are flying but you are locked to “ground level”. Could perhaps even make something out of the current night-elf “spirit form”?

I’d like to believe that many of us are pouring quite a bit of hours of the game in the week and want to feel like we are doing something fun like enjoying the game more often than not. Taking flight points (or the speed of them) is sometimes a nuisance but they’re ok’ish since you can go for a small break in between, but running in spirit form is really boring, gets me unmotivated, illogical, real nuisance and pointless in todays games.
It’s just wasting my time for no good reason at all.

Agree or disagree? (sorry if any grammatical errors, been up way late)

The reason is for you to reflect on the error of your ways and try again. I like how you walk to your corpse, they dont need to change it

Death isn’t very punishing in WoW… the walk is one of the penalties. Don’t mind if it stays or goes tbh.

sorry dear mighty BlizzardIon God of shamans and raiding for playing alliance with warmode on, i promise next time i will disable warmode and play a gimped version of my class, no bonuses to quest rewards (despite hordescum getting free 10% bonus with no risks) and pay to faction change all my alts. amen

hunters dont die, feign death.

but for other player/classes repair bills are one of the biggest gold sinks overall, especially since the change they added that each minute in combat=durability loss %

On my server I see way more alliance around in groups with horde mode off and on

Corpse running is one thing but when you die in the vampire zone… it’s literally like Nazjatar in being a 3D maze. Like 30 mins ago I died to a surprise agro pull. It put my spirit on the lowest ground level over 1000+ distance away. Rather than try to figure out my way up then cover the 1000+ distance I took the rez penalty then flight pointed back to near where I had died.

It’s actually annoying because they tag everything or kill you because they are grouping up

dude try playing classic for a bit and you’ll come to understand how painful corpserunning can be. it’s pretty chill on retail, and you DID die so idk why u expect to get a bouquet of flowers for that, ofc a small punishment happens

My Server group is dominated by alliance… So i choose to not have WM on as horde

Yea it’s probably my least favourite zone actually

make a group and write ‘’ ALLIANCE KILL WM ON’’ 1000 applies in 1 sec

If you read my post, then you’d see that I’ve been playing since late TBC. And I have played classic (to 60) as well and while I enjoyed the questing experience that is actually hard for once compared to retail and that you need to be mindful of mobs in your proximity and the rest that comes with classic (except the dull rep farms and other tidbits), the corpse run is more fine here since the content wasn’t designed with flying in mind with less risk to get stuck etc.

Not sure why you insist so badly on the current format of corpse run. No need to defend your game that hard, I like the game as well but let’s be honest here.

  • What other game punishes you as much as WoW when dying and lets you waste so much time on a resurrect?

  • How is the current form of corpse run meaningful in any way, what good does it actually add?

I’m listening…

Most of the time if I die, it’s normally my fault (jumped off a cliff, pulled too many mobs, being dumb and thinking I can solo a rare) so I accept the corpse run as paying for my own stupidity.

It’s always been like that.
It’s fine the way it is.

Played classic and THOSE are corpse runs.

First of all you’re wrong when you say it takes lots of your time. Simetimes a corpsewalk is literally 10seconds.
Second of all, the meaning has been described by several people already, you just ain’t listening or willing to hear it, so me epeating it obv won’t help

Because back in the day, games used to have inconviniences.

Another person who wants instant rez and no sense of danger. Please go play a first person shooter instead. The instant rez in BFA made world pvp terrible. You can spend the corpse run contemplating why you died.

Also it’s not an accident that the corpse runs are longer now, they did it on purpose.

“Corpse run was pretty logical to have during Vanilla times and a few expansions thereafter for various reasons but not so much today and feels really weird for an expansion like Shadowlands.”

I didn’t mention instant res and/or sense of danger. How is there a sense of danger in its current form? Are you actually enjoying all those minute (combined which can turn into hours after months of playing) of corpse running?

Lets try again

  • What other game has a similar resurrect “style” as WoW a’ka corpse run?

What kinda question is even that? It doesn’t matter what other games do, and even if then usually dying nets you some sort of punishment in other games as well.

What’s even the logic behind it made sense back in vanilla but not now??? lol
