Feedback: Death Knight

I think the buffs we’ve gotten are still not enough.

It’s just a tweak to improve single target damage, but nothing more. The gain is small compared to other classes.

We’ve had this problem in M+ for years. When will this problem finally be solved?

Menacing Magus should be combined with Magus of the Dead - it should be offered in one talent.

NEW - March of the Undead - Frost Bolt and Shadow Bolt hit up to 8 targets, and Ghouls hit up to 5 targets in melee range

I still don’t understand why Plaguebringer shares the same slot with Clawing Shadow.
Put these two talents in different slots - so that they fit thematically and mechanically to the created build: for pets, for diseases, for strong hits,

Raise Abomination costs 2 talent points - why?

Why is Army of the Dead or Gargoyle not baseline for Unholy?
Why Garg has 3 min CD + mechanics to boost his hits and still doesn’t do any solid damage?
Do anything with him - there have been ideas submitted here, implement your own, but damn it - do something with Garg.

I still have hope and faith that you’ll remove his outdated mechanic of boosting his strikes by consuming runic power - I miss the simple and strong Gargo.
Want to keep the power consumption more? Bring back Valkyrie… it couldn’t be simpler.

Why doesn’t San’layn buff diseases or introduce any new ones?
This should e.g. buff Blood Plague by 300-500% - thematically.

Possibly after using DT, there should be a cloud around DK dealing DoT damage/ new disease.

Hero talents are generally a wasteland because you didn’t give players much choice in choosing talents.

But who cares? It’s the same with the basic specialization tree… for years.

Maybe make it last much longer, tick down faster and faster whilst doing DOT damage that culminates in something something?

I wonder how UH DK would have worked if Gargoyle had been located as a choice nod with Unholy Assault. I think they should consider it, i feel like Gargoyle fighting for relevance against Doomed Bidding will always be a doomed😏endeavor. While this wont make Gargoyle better design wise, it would at least give us a CD to chose from the two in that location.

I don’t know what the internal results of the balance team are, but the potential build for unholy for M+ is so weak in a single target that we are very close to losing to the tank.

PS. Easy way to improve ST damage without changing AoE?
Change the effect or buff Soul Reaper by 100%.

or change it to:
Soul Reaper 10 sec cd. 15y range.
Strike an enemy for (100% of Attack power) Shadowfrost damage and afflict the enemy with Soul Reaper for 5 sec.

Every 1 sec, if the target is below 35% health this effect will explode dealing an additional (200% of Attack power) Shadowfrost damage to the target. If the enemy that yields experience or honor dies while afflicted by Soul Reaper, gain Runic Corruption.

Unfortunately guys we might go another patch as the weakest dps specs Frost/Unholy. From allot of testing our dps still lags behind most of the specs, and we still bring the worst utility to the raid obsolete if a Blood Dk is taken to the raid, and Unholy still don’t have a defining damage profile from Diseases/Undeads as a result of the heavy pushing for Death Coil and Clawing Shadow to deal the majority of our damage. This result in our more important talents for Diseases and Undeads are underperforming still [can change]. But i don’t see it being done in 1 week [can be proven wrong]. What our spec need is to have DC and CS tuned down both in the talent tree and our direct damage, this needs to be put in to our core skills like Diseases and Undeads. Another thing that Blizzard should look in to is to move Gargoyle where Unholy Assault is located and make them a choice nod, Gargoyle should also have a change to it’s design, currently the Death Coil spam just don’t feel great when Sudden Doom don’t generate free Death Coils, but that’s fine, if any thing it should be Gargoyle that gets a mechanical change to make it more appealing and more interactive with our rotation, as suggested before make us summon 3 Gargoyles that bombards the target and generate Festering Wounds on the enemy target, and as an extra should be that it ramps up it’s duration when Sudden Doom procs are consumed 1-2 seconds or so. It can still remain as a 3 min CD, that might be what our spec needs, a strong burst CD that pushes our single target build more forward.

As for Unholy Pact this needs to be deleted and replaced with Raise Sludge Belcher, our primary pet feels weak because there is nothing to further iterate on it’s pitiful existence, having the Sludge Belcher being an improved version of our pet in every way adds so many layers of skill expression which was lost after Legion from pet managing. As for All Will Serve, why haven’t it been buffed and made to interact with our pet related skills apart from Unholy Aura, like i suggested before make Dark Transformation turn it to a Bone Lord [this was suggested earlier on this forum]. We could really do with a passive that synergies with Ruptured Viscera, but with how slow the fixing to UH talent tree this will either be a next patch thing or not before the Last Titan as i don’t see this being a thing before the hey remember DK’s back in Wrath, sins TLT will be in Northrend. The skill i can see make the Minion side be more interesting for UH DK is when we can Raise Skeleton Warriors to apply debuff on the enemy with a chance when they die to apply Festering Wounds from Ruptured Viscera.

This is more a question what you guys think, but do you think we should have Magus of the Dead removed for a talent that lets us customize how we want to use our Apocalypse as a choice nod talent after the CD has been taken. Here is an example, Apocalypse is a passive, but your Army of the Dead Ghouls follow you around as a passive where you command 4 of them instead of it being a 45 second cd. The other one should be like Necromancers Bargain from our PVP talent, i can see it shift our damage profile from the Minion focus Apocalypse, to change it to Diseases instead. This can simply apply a Disease that increase the damage the enemy takes that are infected by it, it could also change Apocalypse in to an AOE that explode when used to infect all targets caught in it’s area of attack.

This is something i been keep pushing as a feedback to Blizzard, but i just can’t see Blizzard daring to make a change that make Unholy DK’s presence visually be more apparent and cool, it might steel other classes thunder, and we do know Blizzard hates DK’s with how slow they are to take relevant feedback from the community baring when a massive hate train comes at them when some of the streamers gangs up on them.

I like the idea of being able to customise army of the dead with choice nods. The Menacing Magus was meant to make this ability more useful in dungeons, yet it ended up underperforming too. So I would suggest to get rid of it and then add a choice nod instead:

  • Death Volley: Turns the Apocalypse ghouls into one Magus and one Archer. They’re pure single target, buffed equivalently to reflect their purpose.
  • Infectious Frenzy: The ghouls of Apocalypse now all benefit of Infected Claws and cleave the targets. Makes the talent much more useful for dungeons, source of wounds to cleave down, more fun and interactive for dungeons and heavy aoe environments.

This one i could see as a replacement for Menacing Magus, if any thing this would have been damn good to implement in the middle row followed up from taking Apocalypse.
