[Feedback] Demonology Warlock Interrupt – Axe Toss Needs Rework

Hi all,

I’ve been playing WoW for a long time and have mained Demonology Warlock for years. I consistently place in the top ~0.2% in Mythic+ and wanted to finally share some feedback that I’ve been sitting on.

The issue: Demonology’s only interrupt, Axe Toss, is on a 30s cooldown and includes a 4-second stun. Compared to other ranged specs (who typically have a 24s interrupt with no added effects), this feels clunky and even risky in higher-level content.

Why it matters:

  • The stun can accidentally trigger unwanted behavior in mobs (e.g., CC breaks, stun-immune reactions, or affix triggers).
  • The 30s cooldown makes it harder to cover key interrupt windows when rotating with other ranged.
  • It’s not cast by the player directly, but through a pet, adding delay and positioning complications.

Suggestion:

  • Bring Axe Toss in line with standard interrupts: 24s cooldown, no stun, or
  • Split it into two abilities: one for a reliable interrupt, one for a situational stun.

I love Demonology and appreciate the unique flavor of the spec, but this one ability continues to feel like a weak point, especially in coordinated high-end content.

Thanks for taking the time to read — I hope the devs consider a change here!

As Aff lock i would be happy to have an interrupt or stun(without cast time) outside of my felhunter pet

it would be enough to give a talent in the warlock tree a node talent in which to choose or to have the spell lock only for the warlock, and the spell lock for the felhunter. In this way all the warlocks would have what all the classes have, that is the silence.

In this way if one prefers to use the spell lock while casting, he will use the felhunter. If you want to use another demon, like the felguard for demonology, you activate the spell lock node. To compensate obviously you should recalibrate the demon abilities and the grimoire of sacrifice, in addition to eliminating for example the stun of the grimoire: felguard to avoid an excessive number of CC

The excuse of not giving native spell lock to demolock is absurd, as there are classes that have ranged kick even though they can have a significant amount of CC

They could just give us the interrupt and make the command spell for felhunter devour Magic (that one that removes one benefical magic from your enemy).
With this you could make any demon viable without being chained to your felhunter.
(Also Succubus should be able to remove rage effects, but this is a wish that probably still takes 10 years to accomplish)
So you could now choose your deamon depending on what you need for the dungeon.
Void Walker: for solo content
Imp: When you have to remove a heavy magic dot
Felhunter: to remove a dangerous enemy buff
Succubus: to peel of enemies (and/or to remove rage effects)

Also back to the topic: yes axe toss should be at a 26 sec cooldown but they probably think its to strong for this cooldown because it also can stun an enemy (so you can interrupt physical attacks like aimed shot)

A caster based interrupt would be great. Another option is that all our demons have an interrupt. That way we keep your excellent point, but also keep us being able to still cast whilst interrupting.

I would prefer if we had the option of just having an normal interrupt, that is not tied to our pet in any sort of way.

One thing that you didnt mention is that grimoire: Felguard is actually a interrupt/stun also.
So in a sense demonology has 2 interrupts, both of which is pretty useless as it stuns the mob.
