I’ve been playing quite a bit of MoP Classic PvP, especially since prepatch, and I wanted to share some feedback and concerns — as well as suggestions — based on what I’ve experienced so far.
1. CC Overload & Dispel Changes
One of the biggest issues right now is the abundance of crowd control and the lack of meaningful counters to it.
With Dispel Magic / Purify now having an 8-second cooldown, classes that rely on removing CC (roots, fears, magic slows) are feeling incredibly limited. Meanwhile, CC-heavy classes like warlocks can spam Fear with no cooldown, and other CCs like Polymorph, roots, and silences can be chained with almost no real counterplay.
For example, as a DK, if I get rooted — especially by something like a Frost Mage — I’m pretty much stuck unless:
I trinket it (which leaves me open to a follow-up sheep/fear/stun),
Or my healer dispels me (but they can only do that once every 8 seconds now),
And in many cases, I’m re-rooted a second later anyway.
This is a huge pain point for melee, and it feels like ranged casters with spammable CC dominate open-world and battleground PvP scenarios.
It’s clear a lot of the PvP balance decisions — such as the dispel CD and the 15-second kick cooldown — are being made with Arena in mind, and I totally understand that. But in Battlegrounds, this creates chaos.
Fighting 2 healers in a BG right now? You better pray for a miracle.
Interrupting one healer? Doesn’t matter much — 6 seconds later they’re casting again, or the other healer is topping everyone up.
No CDs left? Might as well AFK until dampening does something 3 minutes later.
This “CD tax” on kicks, dispels, and other utility tools just doesn’t scale well in mass PvP environments.
3. Suggestions/Wish List
Here are a few ideas that could help ease the frustration while still maintaining class identity and balance:
Option 1: Revert the Dispel/Purify change or at least reduce the CD to 4–5 seconds. Healers need a fighting chance to support their teammates — especially in comps where dispels are key.
Option 2: Introduce a global DR category for all “loss of control” effects (fear, root, sheep, silence, disarm). While not perfect, this could help reduce chain-CC and give players more windows to act.
Option 3: Consider scaling utility and CC differently in Battlegrounds vs Arena. I know this is a big ask, but it’s becoming clear that the current changes are great for 3v3 balance but painful in 10v10+.

As a healer playing PvP mostly in BGs, the significant loss of reliable dispels is having a noticeably negative impact on gameplay itself. I would be happy for the changes made to “Dispel Magic” to be reverted back. The new “Purify” spell simply does not give healers enough utility to be able to sufficiently care for their team. The new 8 second CD on dispel paired with the sheer amount of CHAINED CC/Snares/slows/LoC effects is low-key insufferable. Often feeling like I’m playing with my hands tied while my team just dies around me because I physically cannot dispel what NEEDS to be dispelled. I’m not saying dispel should be spammable by any means, but the CD on our dispel does not bode well with the fact that other classes can simply spam theirs. We need to be able to counteract this and currently we can’t. Was honestly a change that shouldn’t have been made and one that’s making BG gameplay kinda meh.
Just needs to be balanced fairly honestly. If they can spam CCs/snares/roots/loc then we should be able to spam our dispel. I duno, the playing field shouldn’t be this uneven and we shouldnt be having to spend 70% of a BG stuck in a fear unable to actually play. Let healers do their jobs please!
I’m hoping your right due to prepatch, it feels now that 2-3 seconds of up time you can kill someone or if your cc’d your dead in 2-3 for a lock for instance its fear till cd use then nuke during final fear which you have no way to respond with no trink / dispell etc as already been used.
exactly my point make the cc’s have a CD so its strategic both sides. A lock spamming fear or a mage spamming sheep / freeze / root multiple disarms from classes its not right to not have a counter.
Example.
DK vs Mage
Frost mage opens with freeze runs 30 yards away starts spamming their frost bolts etc, i would need to either sit 7 seconds in the freeze or trinket.
lets say I trinket this, I manage to waddle the 30 yards to get range I could use AMS here but I need to save it.
So I get to the mage with alot of HP loss, the mage dragons breaths me im cc’d for 3 seconds, then freezes again a further 3 seconds (DR).
The mage blinks and puts me in deep freeze I use IBF to get out of it (unless they blanket counter spells preventing use of ibf), the mage is 30 yards away so I use AMS he instantly Ice blocks and waits, my AMS is over and he freezes leaving me rooted for 7 seconds and runs 30 yards again pops mirror images and kites me to death.
You so delusional bruh. It is so big nonsense. This addon is build on CC.
Yes, lets spam mass dispel like we do in Cata with no cd. To much for you class to have no cd dispels (target and mass), purge spell and have lots of hps.
Panda is one of most balances addons in all wow history. If you have some problems, you need to learn more about you class and what to do in duels. For now you have so much videos on youtube. Just send there good request. And as it mentioned above, we have pre patch now. Just wait for you 90 lvl.
Duels have 0 to do with this “You so delusional bruh” did you know there is scaling in BG / Arena settings so duals have pretty much zero comparison to actual pvp due to the new scaling and pvp power (only works in BG/Arena) so no watching youtube videos of 1800 rated players duelling will probably not help.
Its not a l2p issue its a massive change that has made pvp boring tbh. This is now retail and the neckbeard enjoyers are the ones happy about it.
It’s going to be very funny when the rose-tinted goggles for MoP PvP begin to wear off for the average player.
Enjoy sitting in 40+ second long CC chains every 45 seconds against Godcomp. Even just Balance Druids by themselves make the gameplay experience miserable for most melee. Gl connecting on anything in any meaningful manner through FoN root-spam.
