Feedback on Warlocks

Hey Guys just some thoughts I had on Lock Tank,
at the top I want to say that I have greatly enjoyed SoD so far and think you did a great job overall! The following is just bit of feedback that I think should be adressed:
first of all I hope you implement some way to make Meta form smaller for Warlock tanks or hide the form completely. I know it’s meant to be a huge demon that tanks mobs and that’s cool but as soon as you are in a cave or dungeon you can’t see anything at all. A lot of the time when im tanking in BFD I find myself running into walls while tanking bosses because the demon is filling half my screen.
Another thing is that the Rain of Fire/Incinerate spec is the only good one for Warlock tanks atm and it just feels clunky to use. You have to hardcast into the bosses face and every time you have to move the boss out of rain of fire it feels terrible. Also because melee hits and shadow cleave do no damage you pretty much are just spamming searing pain most of the time even on are pulls which is just abit boring.
Right now Nightfall props are useless in Meta form even if they could have some fun interactions with the AOE shadow bolt rune for example. How cool would it be if you could use Nightfall props on Are shadow bolts as a tank? Even if you think this is too overpowered it would be nice if you could at least use the instant shadow bolt as a tank since I do think in p2 people will run with affliction talents at least for some content.
anyway if anyone reads this thanks for your time!

I agree with most of what you’re saying. Especially the part about spamming Searing Pain. For me that was what broke it for me and made me lose intrerest. I just posted a thread where I suggested the following rune as a filler. Or this could be baked into the Metamorphosis rune.
New rune - Drain Soul tanking
Drain Soul is now a 3 second channel and the mana cost is reduced by 50%. You can still dodge and move while channeling it. It can’t be interrupted or pushed back.

On top of that I think Searing Pain could really be turned into a like 4-8s CD heavier nuke snap threat kinda thing instead of something you break your keyboard on

+1 on Meta size.

I dont remember the name but someone on US forums posted interesting idea to change meta form to just wing and shadowy aura (like of glyph in retail). It would solve the size problem.

The only real other problem I see is aoe threat.

You read my mind bro - 100% agree

Just to point out that RoF is optional. I never have Aggro problems without it

Next phase runes we will see if these specs will stay an experiment or actually a competitive player come 60.

All other tanks will just get stuff enhancing an already fleshed out kit, while ours is working kinda now but still needs a bit more busy work than a warri or a shaman for example.

We all know utility will win over mitigation especially with scaling damage dealers.
Maybe we can debuff and thus buff ranges better or whatever.
I assume more talents will open more opportunities and maybe a tree will be the “tanking” tree due to more changes to classic skills.
For now the range tank gimmick doesn’t really bring any advantage over a warri that just does what he did for 20 years

I think they could go a long way by adding Incinerate (and chaos bolt) to Intensity so you can realistically do more than spam searing pain.

And yeah, echoing what others have said, the shape of the model is offputting. I hate feeling sluggish.

In close quarters the demon form just takes too much of the screen.
Add a follow up mini quest or line of dialog that allows warlocks with meta to talk to the mysterious stranger and “contain” the demon form, have the character display red or green glowing eyes while keeping the original model.

Hum for now i think everlasting affli Demolock plays much better than the fire spec for tanking. All the synergies are there with shadowcleave refreshing 3 corruptions. Threat is great, mana / drain much better as well. Give it a shot if you can.

But getting ready for the Hellfire aoe spec at 40. This will be a huge improvement for the fire spec.
