[Feedback] Phase 2 Is Thoroughly Demotivating

Good post, however, some of the things you said were a bit hyperbolic:

Caster damage in PVP, Druids got nerfed to the ground so they don’t have a 2k damage nuke from ranged. But your point still stands the event was a terrible idea a free for all where you have to get the killing blow to get any reward from it is out of touch with how it should work.

If you Blizzard wanted a super sweaty competition where people are expected to reroll to the meta class, the STV event is it.

Ashenvale was better, now Ashenvale is terrible for rep since layering is broken and I’m getting put on layers with less than 20 and sometimes less than 5 players on it. Ashenvale was good because if you had a PVE spec you could still compete, but in the STV event you need to have a PVP spec. If you raid and doing the STV events you have to spend gold to respec every time as a healer or tank.

Not doing any sims or testing to determining burst damage and then nerfing specs into the ground to balance PVP is ruining PVE and PVP. Low tank damage sucks for tanks, too, Blizzard learned this a long time ago, but have since forgotten it.

Your guild screwed you by going to a PVP server just like mine did. No one gets into a fight they don’t think they will lose. It’s very much like real life if there weren’t any laws or runes or morals. Since there aren’t transfers, players whose guild stopped playing are either rerolling to a PVE server, which I did and it sucks to start over well behind everyone else when everything is so much harder because there are less people, or quitting.

I wanted to say this is just one of the phases of many and we should calm down about it, but it’s the current and only playable phase. It should be about having fun and not worrying your spec will be nerfed soon making PVE and PVP less fun. Or just having a spec and class that underperforms by a large margin that might not getting changes. PVP and raid damage shouldn’t be connected unless you plan on making mobs take more damage while keeping damage to players normalized.

If a rune invalidates Improved Slam, use those 5 points for something else.

Why are warriors expected to take items from shaman, hunters and rogues rather than use their own armor type? No one said anything about a bonus for wearing the correct armor type. If loot was falling from the sky you’d have a point, but it’s not.

Just because someone has a different point of view doesn’t mean they’re trolling. And I have to say, for all the complaints about rage generation it doesn’t seem to be a problem for Testodon at least.

What a handsome young man!

Other way around for me. P1 was so boring I stopped after 2weeks. After week 1 I just ended up raidlogging for a week, and a questioned whats even the point in doing that

P2 I dont see myself stopping for a good while, not with frequent balance changes that keep spicing up the meta

Simply because it is BiS for them. And you also forgot druids. I played Vanilla in 2005 and Classic in 2019 and warriors… warriors never change.

I didn’t unsub but I stopped playing my Hunter which was my main because of the terrible rune design of P1 not being addressed by an overhaul in P2, we could have been top dps as MM and I still would have switched. It’s not fun to be railroaded into runes because the others are just crap. Be they BM, MM or meme-spec runes.

How much do you get paid to be a useless troll on EU forums?

I’m discussing the topic, while you’re dedicating yourself to pointless ad hominems. So who’s really the troll here?

Phase to feels good so far

It’s true there was once a post not long ago from a Russian guy that ended up being a toxic cess pit about Russia, Ukraine, Israel & Palestine. Full of racism and hate from all sides. It took Blizzard like 3-4 days before they even noticed what it had developed into before locking and deleting it. Had it not been flagged so many times it probably wouldn’t have even been noticed by Blizzard .

Stop responding to Shivette, it’s the only way to deal with a troll. He/she plays shaman, a class that has a history of one shotting people and is doing it again now, opinion on warriors is instantly worth nothing.

I’m quite enjoying it, but it’s much slower pace in leveling and finding stuff than in P1

The fact that you have nothing worthwhile to say in defense of your position and instead resort to endless ad hominems says more about you than it does about me. But I’m not gonna lie, I do like oneshotting those warriors

What pre-bis farm? My BFD geared balance druid found 1, and that was the off hand from sm gy. Replaced it with the stv event almost right away.
Other than that, there is one item. Some gloves from RFD which drop with random enchantment. For it to be usable it has to be arcane wrath. And the upgrade is so small as to be insignificant. There are a few other items, but they are all greens with arcane wrath, so can’t really be farmed. Just random drops you just have to get from the AH. Can’t be asked when the power gain is so minor compared to the cost.

There are way more items for melee classes to get. Especially for plate wearers, who can find upgrades in SM, RFD and Uldaman.

But Im fine with not having to do pre bis farm. I got to 40 and went straight to raid, and thats just how I like it.

The only thing I don’t like (aside from obvious problems we all know they are working to fix, such as lag in stv and layering issues) is the nerf mentality. They nerfed balance. They are going to nerf priests. Rogues will probably get nerfed, not to mention melee hunters. 1shot shamans too probably.
And I really really really hope they don’t do that.

Its season of discovery! Instead of nerfing they should look at other solutions that won’t kill people’s enthusiasm for their class. Maybe a rune for palas that give them an absorb shield when they take a spell crit. Or spell reflect for warriors.
Don’t take the awesome away from the awesome classes. Instead give awesome to the not so awesome classes.

And regarding the OPs experiences. I think some of it is skill issue, and Im not saying that to troll or be toxic. STV is bad for everyone. As a balance druid I have the exact same experience. Snipe a kill. Go to gy. Rinse and repeat. Unless Im in a group. Then we can hold out for a few minutes before we get run over.

I think a lot of people were expecting the same easy time as in phase 1. But remember that in phase 1 we had 16 talent points. Most of the specs barely existed. That’s why 2h melees could tank, and dps casters could heal, because the talents and abilities that make a tank or healer weren’t available yet, so they had to tune it that way.

At level 40 this has changed. Classes and specs are gaining their core abilities, and so naturally things can be tuned to be more challenging. Things have become more complex, and it is not immediately obvious what the right build is for any given content.
Unlike phase 1, you can’t hop into pvp in your pve gear and spec and expect good results.

Im holding out hope that they will sort out the lag in stv and the layering issues. I pray they decide to stop nerfing and look at other, new ways of balancing things out. And I hope they manage to do it before people give up on SoD completely.

Same things happend in phase 1. So I stopped playing PvP realms altogether.

I abandoned my decked out druid on Crusader Strike. Rerolled to Wild Growth. Made new friends.

I still PvP, but don’t get griefed when doing the simplist of things.

This message tell us everything about your issues.

The issues isn’t SoD or WoW Classic, it’s you. Classic is made for this misery. The whole journey on a PvP server is about danger and this misery. I don’t know why most people don’t play in a groups for quest, but whatever …

Anti-misery mechanic lmao.

Gankers in high lvl zone are rare, because most toxic PvP player it’s their 2x to 3x Classic release. Sure, you’ll die from angry level 40 that died 3 times in a row before you from a squad, but that happen man and sometime you can find them in your server Discord and sympathize.

It’s nowhere like in Classic 2019 where we could sit for hours on your corpse griefing everyone forever just for the pleasure of killing COVID lockdown time. In comparison, SoD with 10 layers even at night, is very easy to play and comfy. I can count on single hand how many time I die when I play at night time.

Close to the same. P1 Felt a bit dull after a while, couldn’t really do WSG due to the premades (Prefer to jump in and out when i want). BFD was the big hype and enjoyment for me in P1.

However now in P2, my kit feels quite complete as a Enh shaman. MSW really solidified the spec and with the incoming buffs, i feel that it will make it good enough.

PvP is still enjoyable, even though we have classes being objectively broken (Melee hunter in pvp). AB is my favourite BG and with the new MM rules it’s easy to jump in after a long day of work.

Haven’t done Gnomeregan yet, but so far i’ve seen, it looks like a fun challenge. STV event is so-so, but just taking it as a bit of a FFA BG with rewards in the end, it’s still fun.

I am agreeing with you 100% here, I am to stuck on a PVP-realm because my friends who started before me chose it, but for me who enjoy questing more than grinding in dungeons it’s a nightmare. What fun is there for a lvl 40 to dunk a player 6-10 levels lower? I might just be old and grumpy but when i played vanilla back in 2005-2006 ganking was frowned upon and most people stayed to the etics of only attacking players their level or just about. In my last playing session i was ganked about 8-10 times in half an hour before i closed the game utterly deflated. There has to be more of a demotivator for high level players to gank. Blizzard please fix!
