Feedback: Returning player and huge steps to get back to WoW

I haven’t played WoW actively since Legion because of the birth of my daughter and after being hyped about the Dragonflight and its alpha, reality hit me like a brick wall. If I want to return to the game I have to buy also earlier expansions + possible character boost if I want to start from the same spot as my “old friends” and/ or server change and sub time. With all that in mind including how time consuming the game was and still is it start to feel like returning back to WoW would be impossible. I loved to game and still been enjoying watching streamers play it every now and then. I hope there could be something to make it easier to get back to WoW but the brick wall I must face before that is most likely too much.

All players have their accounts upgraded to atleast BfA expansion level, it’s not known yet if Shadowlands will be added to the base level when DF comes around.

If you do however, purchase Shadowlands Heroic you will get 1 boost with it on the same upgraded game license. The Epic edition comes with 30 days.

There’s also the complete collection including Shadowlands and Dragonflight and two boosts + 30 days of gametime at Heroic level. 60 days on Epic edition.

As for other game services like character transfer, if you transfer 3 or more they offer bundle discount nowadays. You could also wait on an extra discount offer on character services otherwise.

Since CS doesn’t handle nor forward suggestions though, you can do so below through the ingame panel with a free toon below level 20. The bundled character services is one of the suggestions that was added to the game as an example after much player feedback.

Magical Suggestion Box

Edit: Fixed some typo’s/Added suggestion box.

I’m familiar with all of this. But the cost to get to the same point what it was back in the day when expansion launched and I played actively is insane when comparing the costs. Then it was like 40-50e from standard + gametime. Now it seems like I would have to pay +120e and that might even not be enough while ofc paying for the game time fee after first month. If the bundle would give like 6months or 1year with the price of around 120-150e it would be more tolerable as returning player but price is just too much comparing what it is to just buy new games which appreciate my time more as I don’t have as much free time as I did back in the days.

There are three versions of the Dragonflight expansion, you don’t have to buy the most expensive.

Cheaper version is 110e and the more expensive one gives extra 30days of playtime. So still I don’t consider it as a price that would make sense for returning player to purchase.

My goodness what are looking at? The cheapest is about 45€, yours is two and a half times that, where are you buying it from, or are you trolling us?

He means with Shadowlands and DF, if he would like to return now.

I did suggest to wait and see if Shadowlands gets rolled into the base game closer to DF’s expansion release so he’d just needs to buy DF though.

In that case, you (@OP) need to buy

Cheapest option does not include gametime.

Like others said you probably should just skip Shadowlands for now. You can resubscribe for month or two, level character(s) to 50 and then see if you want to get SL for some last minute stuff or just wait for the DF launch at which point SL will almost certainly be rolled into the base game (obviously the exact timing is not know yet so it might happen during pre-patch or after the launch).
