I was really hoping they would make a pure lightning or fire build but they seem to have put some talents in places that would prevent this and force you to take them.
What I don’t like about the lightning build is how you are forced to take either echo of the elements or icefury as your 8th talent to progress down the the tree and that means you then have to either start using lava burst just to activate icefury procs when its off cooldown or waste a talent point to get a extra lava burst that you don’t wanna be using when doing chain lightnings/lightning bolts.
Same for fire build, you have to take some lightning focused talents like flash of lightning just to get to icefury.
They should have swapped echo of the elements and flow of power on the right side and swelling mealstorm and flash of lightning on the left side.
Also don’t like how icefury is only procced by lava burst now but the current dragonflight icefury could be used in both fire and lightning builds because of its follow up choice node talents buffing your next lava burst by 20% or giving you 15% more nature damage to 3 targets hit.
Also not a fan of having Mountains will fall and echos of the great sunfering locked behind ascendance or elemental equilibrium as a lightning build because then you’d be needing to use lava burst again in your rotation…
Also not happy to see power of the mealstorm talent in the middle of the tree forcing you to take that to unlock stormkeeper as lightning build or ascendance as a fire build. Means more using fire spells.
I don’t mind these abilities being in the tree for those who want to have a mixed fire/lightning build but to place them so that we are forced to have to use lightning abilities as fire build or fire abilities as lightning build is not fun
Was also kindda hoping they would either half the cooldown on liquid magma totem or make it so that it applies flame shock to more enemies than just 3, when your tank pulls 2-3 groups in a mythic+ and its 8-12 mobs its a real pain to try and apply flame shock to so many adds before you start casting lava bursts.
Also not a fan of the new lava surge where it procs less the more enemies affected by flame shock because it too forces you to use lightning spells in aoe as fire…
Thunderstrike ward and earthen rage both deal weak damage.
Chain lightning has had its mealstorm generation halved from 4 to 2 per target hit making it much harder to generate than it used to be while the fire build seems to have a lot less of a problem generating it
While I do enjoy the stormbringer hero talents it feels like tempest is too weak. For instance while I’ve not yet tested every class as I don’t have the time for it atm, on my shaman tempest deals 114k damage to the main target and 80k to others nearby. While my warlocks ruination hero talent will do 550k, 1.1 mil crits up to 8 targets hit and they are both the same item level.
