Feedback: Slam Integration and Rotation Flow in the New Arms Warrior Tree

I understand that with the upcoming Midnight update, the design intention is to bring Slam into a more central part of the Arms Warrior rotation. However, the current implementation of Slam-related talents feels somewhat shoehorned and conditional, rather than being an intuitive part of the spec’s natural flow.
Concerns:
New Slam talents (such as Brute Force, Efficiency, Soften Them Up) seem to push Slam through external conditions that may feel artificial or burdensome in actual gameplay.

While veteran players might be able to adjust, newcomers learning the spec for the first time may find the current rotation unintuitive or overly complex. This could hurt the learning curve and approachability of Arms overall.

Furthermore, some long-time Arms players may struggle to adapt not due to unwillingness, but due to different skill levels or playstyle preferences. Making fundamental changes to muscle memory and flow can cause friction in the community, even if well-intentioned.

Suggested Alternative: Keep It Natural

Instead of forcing Slam into conditional value, consider reviving or adapting the old Juggernaut concept in a way that rewards natural rotational use of Slam and Execute. For example:

Juggernaut (Reworked)
Slam and Execute increase your damage done by X% for Y seconds, stacking up to 3 times.

This allows Slam to scale smoothly over time, rewarding consistent use while keeping its spot in the rotation organic, not mandatory.

In addition, retaining Martial Prowess as it currently works on live (buffing Mortal Strike / Cleave after Overpower) helps preserve some familiar feedback loops for veteran players.

Why This Matters:

Creates an intuitive flow that doesn’t rely on tracking edge-case conditions.

Keeps newer players grounded in fundamentals before layering complexity.

Provides a flexible path for optimization, rather than punishing players who don’t micromanage every detail.

Keeps Slam meaningful without overpowering the spec or distorting the core identity of Arms.

Respectfully,
A long-time Arms Warrior player

Won’t that kinda make people feel that they just need to spam Slam or wrongly prioritise it over MS to get the 3-stack buff up asap?

That new Efficiency talent which increases your chance to get a Tactician proc through Slam serves a similar purpose to what you are suggesting, that is giving it a purpose and value in the rotation, but without potentially confusing the player in a way i described above.

Thanks for the feedback!

To clarify: I’m not suggesting Slam should become a core priority over Mortal Strike or Overpower. I’m proposing a passive reward system that allows Slam to enter the rotation more naturally without disrupting the current core loop.

Reason:

Colossus Hero Talent spec already pushes Slam into the rotation due to its synergy/modifiers layer spec focuses more on Sudden Death and Execute. During execute phase, both specs prioritize Execute anyway.
-So currently, Colossus naturally leans into Slam while Slayer leans into Execute.

My proposal adds a layer where smart Rage management is rewarded:

  • Slam grants 1 stack of a short buff: e.g. 5–10% increased damage done for 12–15 seconds, stacking twice.
  • New talent idea: Critical Slams and Executes grant 2 stacks instead of 1.

This way:
Overpower → Mortal Strike remains intact as the default flow.
Players who have downtime (no Overpower/MS available) can press Slam and feel rewarded instead of penalized.
Colossus spec will have more control in how to stack the buff through Slam.
Slayer spec may stack it passively via Sudden Death Executes.
Also i thought of this : Casting Mortal Strike increases the damage of your next Slam or Execute by 15%. Lasts 10 sec.

Encourages natural inclusion of Slam after MS, not before.
Rewards players who track their rotation well and don’t waste globals.
Works fluidly in both Colossus (Slam focus) and Slayer (Execute focus).
Adds light decision-making without bloating the spec.

Respectufully of course.
