[Feedback] Sunfury Spellfire Sphere Toggle On/Off

Hi Blizzard Team,

First, I want to say that I’m really enjoying the new expansion, The War Within. The new zones and the story are both amazing. However, I wanted to share some feedback regarding the new “Sunfury” talents for Arcane and Fire Mages.

As you know, the “Sunfury” talent set creates a visual effect where multiple “Spellfire spheres” orbit over the character’s head. While I appreciate the visual flair and the reference to Prince Kael’thas, I find the constant presence of these orbs—both in and out of combat—distracting and somewhat overwhelming. The orbs are quite large and brightly colored, which makes them hard to ignore, especially when you have 3-5 of them while simply exploring the world.

I believe many players, like myself, would appreciate having an option to toggle this visual effect on or off, or perhaps limit it to only when certain spells are cast. This would allow us to enjoy the benefits of the new talents without the persistent visual clutter.

In the past, Blizzard responded to player feedback by adding an option to disable the floating orbs around the artifact weapon Felo’melorn during the Legion expansion. Providing a similar toggle for the “Spellfire” spheres would be consistent with that player-friendly approach.

Thanks for reading!

Totally agree! I’ve been thinking the same thing ever since I got them. They take up almost the same space as my gnome character lol - and that’s when they’re three, let alone five. I’ll be looking forward to this option!

I completely agree! It’s very distracting over my little gnome mage. I’ve actually specced out of sunfury to the frost hero spec because of the spheres, even though that’s not what I’d rather play :<

Yea I don’t like them either. The orbs and the phoenix doesn’t resonate with me.

Haven’t levelled my mage yet, but I am on an RP realm–does this mean I’m stuck with visible flaming orbs when in-character for roleplay? I hope they give a Legion-like ability to hide them, if so.

I would love to have a way to disable these orbs too… That’s just too bright

I don’t think the visuals fit the arcane theme. Sunfury is fun, but I’d prefer them (and the phoenix) to be more “purple”.
Still, providing a toggle like you mentioned would be a great addition

Yes, you still generate those spheres out of combat. So if you want to RP you need to deactivate your talents or choose another spec.

Could they have done anything more annoying… Driving me mad. I am now forever cancelling the buff. Who comes up with this nonsense.

Good shout, they could definitely make this possible such as profession equipment and the ability to toggle it on/off via a npc in Waking Shores.

Yes, this is needed. My mage feels 10ft tall and the balls are to prominent. Screwing up my mogs. Give us a way to toggle the visibility please. Since it’s only a 10% passive buff with no functionality tied to the balls themselves there’s no point in showing them.

Entirely agree. Frostfire does nothing for me and would demand other talent changes in the 10-70 tree, as well as being thematically wrong. So Sunfury is my only option for my fire mage, who I was hoping to dust off this xpac. Got as far as lvl 72 and gave up. I just can’t stand those glowing apricots above my head. If I wanted that, I’d play destro lock with the glyph to have fiery soul shards floating over me.
It’s not as offputting as Shadow priest void form - another unavoidable visual that puts me completely off a class I’d otherwise like to play - but almost.
Magic apricot toggle now!

Arcane Phoenix is bad because people who designed it are bad.

I also upvote this and would welcome toggle to torn this off. Phoenix I really like, that’s just temporary effect. But spheres not that much. Over bubble and spheres my character is barely visible. The positive thing is I actually gave a try to Frostfire because of those spheres and really enjoying that spec, though for raiding Sunfury is consider better. Also you can add the third options to have it visible only during combat.

EDIT: Also think some people might prefer visible three spheres over five lorewise (despite talent choice) as Kaelthas and other bloodmages also had only three verdant spheres and not five.

Could be worse orbs could have sound effects on them.

It could actually be way worse could be like in Star Trek online the Na’kuhl ships with constant high pitched humming sound.

I now have five of the things above my head. I look like a silly Xmas tree.

And nothing is as bad as Star Trek online. I had to give it up cus I couldn’t get rid of a flickering screen when I went to one of the zones.

Totally agree with my fellow mages. Pretty please. with sugar on the top, rid my cute little gnome of those annoying and ugly spheres.

Please let me hide the balls.

It’s cool, but it gets annoying, and limits me from using some helmets/shoulders and even staves because they clip into them. Give us an option to hide them permanently, and to hide them only out of combat. I’m sure this would make most mages happy.

Agree all the way that there should be a toggle to turn off this annoying effect. There is an addon called Leatrix Plus which might be able to do it, if Blizz do not oblige. Contacted the developer to ask him if he can do it. You never know till you ask!
