Feedback Wanted: Further Adjustments to Layer Behavior in Stranglethorn Vale - 23 February, 2024

Absolutelly need to fix all stuff about layering. You couldn´t have fix this after many years of knowing what is going to happend on a open world PvP and stuff. I don´t know how we still have this., please fix

Everything about it is just so poor it’s borderline embarrassing and amateurish at this point. It’s very clear that nobody is testing or even a single dev is playing their game, if they would they’d know all the issues that are going on.

The lag issues have been here for weeks as well as the layering problem, if a layer is full just MOVE the entire party to a new layer or an existing one with capacity, like is it that hard to work out???

There are a few aspects about the change that i want to list here:

  1. I for myself felt like the world was much more empty and i wished to see more players. Therefore i really like the reduction of the amount of layers in the world because the areas felt full and alive again.

  2. The STV event on the other hand needs a stable server response to be played well. The changes did massively hurt the STV event in its playability.
    The lags are massive. Sometimes when i press to activate Bubble as paladin it takes 4 seconds to activate it. When I get a Fear (like from Priest or Warrior) i am stuck in the fear-effect but the debuff is not showing.

This results in a situation where i can not even use my pvp-trinket to get out of the fear because my client says there is no debuff to cleanse…meanwhile i already ran 4 seconds away in “fear”.
So the debuff of the fear often shows up, when there only are 2 or 1 seconds remaining and then i can cleanse it with the pvp-trinket.

  1. layering of group members in STV:
    I never had an issue with that before the change. After the change we managed to get around it by just running out the area into duskwood and running back in to join the same layer in STV.
    This works but i doubt it’s intented that the players should have to use this workaround.
    Additionally if one of your group members gets disconnected after the event has started or shortly before and you are not able to do the duskwood workaround…your group member maybe is in another layer when he re-connects to the game.

I guess i don’t have to say that this mostly ends the event for now only 4-player grps.


My thoughts:
Maybe it could be a solution to bring back the old layer mechanic just for the STV zone. The performance before the change was (for me) a fluent gameplay and the response was how it can be expected with a 12ms ping time.

Another attempt could be to split the STV zone itself into more “zones” in terms of the layering technology…like take the river as a border or split it into “north” and “south” STV…but I don’t think this is a good solution as it opens the field for an abuse of that. Like ppl that just wait at those “layering-borders” to snipe the players that are layering to them.

Can´t even see my bro in group. 15:48 in front of Orgrimmar, insane…

Literally unplayable in multiple ways.

  • first and foremost: massive lag
  • I was in a group of 5 and we couldn’t get everyone on the same layer
  • when one managed to get on the layer of the other four someone else gets layered to another one…
  • even during the event we got layered to different layers out of the blue

Not a layer issue but it sure would fix it:

FFA
ONLY

no groups, no premades. Pure meyhem and no cheezing / wintrading honor / rep.

From the moment the event launched, me and my four friends could see four times the amount of other players from prior to the update being implemented on the 23rd - however it didn’t matter where we went or what time it was - the game performance had deteriorated to the point where it felt we were all trying to run through custard. The lag is the worst it’s ever been and is pointless to try again whilst the current changes remain in place.

The event is currently unplayable, instant cast abilities have a cast time of at least 5 seconds, and you die before you even know that you’re being attacked. You have completely ruined the event and I won’t be doing it again until you revert the change, as it’s just frustrating and not fun at all.

We were a group of 5 people who all had the same issue, we arrived at STV 30 minutes before the event started so we were in the same layer, but that was the only positive thing I can say about our experience. EU Living Flame.

around 3pm St on LW, 5 ppl party starting 5 min befor Eve from Duskwood to enter SthV north
Everyone of our party was on an different layer
lags all the time from min 1 to min 30
lags just end when Eve was over
Party disbanded after 15 min cuz everyone was solo anyways
in general blood moon could be fun but I promise this Eve will die soon if you can’t handle it
Probably some ppl won’t log in SoD again

While the idea is cool, this would benefit some classes greatly compared to others, to the point of it being unfair. Warriors would be pretty much worthless and would hardly be able to get any coins.

But you could perhaps reduce the allowed group size to e.g. 2’s or 3’s.

What are you the feedback police or something now? Find something useful to do with your time you’re wasting it talking to me I don’t value your opinion.

Ah and Dont forget that WSG Grind still takes like 100 Wins (without premades it is kinda impossible), but people can already be Exalted on Arathi with the Lumberquest after 3 Weeks of Release

This PVP event should definitely be scrapped and something else done, it’s unplayable, I don’t understand how players can continue to put up with it?

just remove the insane lag. and fix the layers so we can see our party members.

    As soon of event END : no more lag for kill hordies !

→ all the week end all layer where where loaded ! hard to quest/farm !
