Feedback - World Quests in The War Within

So overall the current content with The War Within is fine, it’s not amazing, groundbreaking, but it’s fine. It’s entertaining for what it’s meant to do.

But there is an issue, which I believe everyone has faced at this early stage of the expansion itself, and that is the let’s call it the “queue” for completing world quests.

Now, I don’t know if some of the world quest were designed like this on purpose and thus were just completely overlooked. But in my personal opinion, it feels like some of the world quests were designed to be only done by 1 person that was there at any given time.

I’m talking about the world quests, where we’ve all sat there for 10, 15 or 20 minutes just kill 12 worms or collect 100% of a meter because only several creatures spawn, and you’ve got anywhere between 15 and 20 people trying to grab everything as soon as it appears.

Based upon the size of the zone where the quest has to be completed, it doesn’t make sense to spawn even more mobs, as we know the effects of mob spawning, with the lag event in Isle of Dorn (Threate Troupe).

Some will say that this problem will disappear in time, but I don’t really see that happening as we’re all trying to get our renown ranks completed, before world quests become a thing of “well if I’m there may as well” kind of reaction.

So I hope that any feedback or information that Blizzard obtains from this expansion going forward, that we won’t see these kinds of world quests appearing in new zones, when they’re released or in the next part of the World Soul Saga expansions.

Let me preface this by saying I am loving the expansion itself but I think the criticism of some world quests is valid. I have completed most without issue but some definitely have problems.

It is disappointing that this kind of thing happens so often with WoW. As if they don’t realise there are multiple people doing quests at a given time and some have been so bad it takes a long time or much camping to get the menial task done.

Every WQ objective needs to be programmed like there are a dozen people going for the same thing at once. We are seeing fixes for some rolled out. Like the tools one I just abandoned but they’d put a fix out and then the items were plentiful for people to pick up. I don’t understand why it’s not going out in it’s fixed state in the first place.

It is an MMO, WQs need to be made for an MMO. Not for a single player.

Why did they get rid of BfA/Shadowlands WQ’s style?

Even some of those had issues and they had to fix. I remember problems with Korthia quests. Similar to what we are seeing here.

This is indeed something that does need to be done.

Of course, they should make sure to take action in relation to what the mobs drop during that world quest to avoid some individuals from using it to mass farm something.

For as long as wow has been on the scene, what you describe has been present.

It was worse in the past. One faction would have to “scan” a mob while the other had to kill it. Even worse was the small area they were in. Built in timegating.

I actually associate wow with this type of playing.

Your only consolation is that in due time it will all calm down to a point where there are not 20 people all going for the same objective. I play on a low pop server so for me its not that bad. Bad, but not really bad.

Agree. Especially annoying today when I was 5/6 quests on the weekly and also it was going to complete my "activities " zone bar - Had to harvest parts from a zone with 5 players chasing 3 mobs at any one time and with over a minute respawn time. Just felt like a slap in the face:)

Yes, the problem is that the scaling is off - we’re all still doing WQs to gain renown but as soon as we start to get purples we become OPed for the spawn rate. Mobs die too quickly for players to share the kills, so 3/4 of the quest is waiting for respawn.

Yeah, they definitely need to refine the respawn rates on some of these quests. I had the same issue with the ‘kill 12 worms’ quest in Ringing Deeps and just had it again with the ‘Dye Dye Dye’ world quest in Azh. The fact that it’s gone live with quests like this along with some of the other bugs we’ve been finding (and the absolute demolishing of normal dungeons by low levels) point to the expac being shoved out before it was entirely done. Nothing new for Blizzard, but it is still concerning.
