100% this.
Feeling forced to do chores all day, instead of participating in the content that you actually enjoy
yes that was also possible. but for mythic raiding that was a no go
Sure thing! We all do! But it shouldn’t be linked to character power progression. Unless it’s more or less only useful in the content it was achieved in! I.e Pvp gear shouldnt be BiS for raiders or vice versa. Spending 30 hours in a loremaster campaign shouldn’t be needed to enter an M+ competitive! That’s just not a fun experience!
Disagree, but…
Totally agree on this.
Every ‘group’ of activities (PvP, Raids, Dungeons, World Content) should have its own progression.
So you can do what you like and progress for THAT type of activity.
I think its just beeing stupid. this wholes “layers on top of layers” gets puked out by every WoW - streamer / youtuber. Was true for BfA but not for SL. But their weird follower cult still keeps spreading the word.
For world first race ,yes they had to grind to win race ,but for regular mythic raiding it was not necessary whatsoever.
Honestly i see your point, i started playing WoW just before patch 8.2 came out.
And everything quickly got too much for me, even with all the catch up mechanics.
Endless HOA grind, a huge amount of locked content behind campaign (Strongholds was the worst of them) then visions came and just added more stuff onto it, Azerite traits and their horrible requirements for BiS ones.
I didn’t like the music or art really.
Here comes Shadowlands with more of the same kind of stuff.
Yet it feels different.
Campaign was slow to begin with, but after that, the zones the art the music was enough for me to get me pulled in. So i went through the campaign in no time.
I noticed the map at first seemed daunting. But none of the zones really took that long time to navigate or traverse from one end to the other.
That directly impacts on how WQ’s feel for me. It just feels like it takes less amount of time to reach and navigate the maps, making me actually want to do the WQ’s for progress. Not to mention i think most of the WQ are fun.
Covenants are RNG yes, but you only really need a few, the covenant system is not an endless mess like azerite traits.
Torghast is awesome to me, pretty stress free and most important, it does not have a timer. And it is gated for the next many weeks.
Callings are fair weekly quests, and the Maw truly isn’t that big, and i actually enjoy spending my time in it. Only two daily quests have to be completed there.
Renown and anima are really not that hard to get.
Overall it’s hard to explain in short. But itt’s more of the same BFA stuff, yet it feels like it all has gotten a substantial amount of QoL updates.
Everything just feels less tedious for me to do. I’m almost afraid to say it. But i enjoy the content.
Well it’s the same thing basically Maybe I just phrased it poorly first.
Quit your crying.
I’m forced to queue all day.
I legit havent done any of those things… I dinged 60, been farming random BGS to get full rank 3 pvp gear till then. Just chill out and play how u want man.
Loving shadowlands so far
watch out. he will come and say doing bgs / arenas are layers up on layers because you have to keep doing them.
Good response, well through put. Glad you are enjoying SL, hope it stays that way kudos for not telling other what they should think, but instead give your own opinion.
I’m detecting crying about queues and crying about the crying of others. That’s a whole lot of crying.
So you don’t have the covenant abilities and talents? You are basically 66.67% of a average player. Or think of it that other people have 5 more items slots then you.
Im still smashing people, now that i have full rank 3 im gonna start doing a bit of the covenant stuff
The time gating made it so the hardcore nolifers say its little chores and they are already done. For the people with limited play time it made it so chores is the ONLY thing they have time to do before next weeks reset of the ”to do list”
The renown cap each week make alot of people forced to reach it
The system might have the opposite effect of what was intended
- Vanillia? ding max lvl and queue up and farm bgs
- TBC: ding max lvl. Play 10 rated arenas per week. Or spam BGs
- Wotlk: Same as above
- TBC: same as above
- Wotlk: same as above
- Cataclysm: same as above
- Mop: same as above
- Wod: same as above
- Legion: ding max lvl and queue up, templates nullified gear differences.
- BFA: Do weekly m+ chests, farm azerite items, farm Echoes of Nyalotha, Vision every week, if you are 1 week behind u have to kill last boss in heroic raid, neck line for +15 ilvls on neck, … list goes on forever
- SL: Rehash of BFA with slightly less tasks but still forced tasks nonetheless
And what do I do the rest of my time? Progress an alt I dont want to play?
Why are you even defending grind chores in Shadowlands lol? Sure, it’s sllightly better then BFA but it’s still is a bloody grindfest/campaign that requires 40+hours playtime to be able to queue up arena or m+ in a somewhat viable state.
Arcane Mage certainly can’t just skip to last boss with minimum exploration and just delete the last boss on level 3, that I can tell you.
How about the 7 per week callings? Or the 1000 anima?
I get you can get the anima by just doing whatever the heck you like.
I’ll say it again because I’m not sure you’re really getting it: I’m not saying it takes ages like it did in BfA, I’m saying it still exists.
This is actually the expansion where everything changed.
