Felguard, yay! ... Why?

So uh… What is the meta with Felguard exactly?
Benefits from all demon talents?
Ok, so does Lash of Pain CD reduction affect his Cleave?
Voidwalkers 30% bonus to his Anguish?
What affects his dash? Does he have a fourth ability or is that it?
Does he get all the bonuses from Master Demonologist?
Does he have more INT and STA in contrast to others that he gives you more from Demonic Knowledge in Spell Power?
His Anguish does pretty measly threat generation to me, still not even close to on part with a Hunter with the BM rune and its Growl Taunt.
He won’t use Cleave if there is only one enemy so that’s poopy.

What’s the big hubbub about him? Is it just big demon, big demon, big demon?

Well I just respecced and no, Lash Of Pain in Destro has no impact on any cooldown for him. I checked his stats in the pet page and nothing changed from any Improved Demon talents at all.

He does get ALL Master Demonologist bonuses however. You have to resummon him after picking the talent. This makes him worthless for tanks by the way with 20% reduced threat.

One thing is for sure. Between that wet noodle axe demon and the soul link nerf, there is no point in putting points in the demo tree (beside imp / stam for destro).

Broken rune. Not a single synergy beside master demono.

Well, I dunno what Felguard does in future expansions and I don’t really care.

I’ve been thinking about what should be affected by what and nothing makes any sense. What ability is comparable to an Imp or a Fel Hunter? Anguish is Torment, Cleave is Lash Of Pain. Easy. But what is Intercept?

If Felguard is supposed to be all of them rolled into one then cherry pick some abilities and give him all of them.

Imp - Blood Pact, Fire Shield (both are now passive and require no button to press, he reapplies Fire Shield once a minute and it lasts the entire minute or until absorption cancels it)
Voidwalker - Torment, Consume Shadows (Consume Shadows is a passive he will use at the end of a fight that is no longer channeled but last for half as long)
Succubus - Lash of Pain (Cleave), Diversion (Shifts all threat from the current target to the warlock) (both active abilities so tanks can opt into Diversion and non tanks can opt out of it.
Fel Hunter - Tainted Blood (passive, always active) Spell Lock (active)

I suppose that could work but it would make the Fel Guard hilariously overpowered.

I dunno, “Benefits from all talents and effects that trigger from or benefit any of your other demon minions”.
That should be Improved X in both Demonology and Destruction.

Pretty much false advertisement to me.

It’s not good at holding threat. It has no interesting abilities. It doesn’t as far as I can see really do more damage than any other demon and even if it does demons don’t perform amazing DPS to begin with. Anguish pales in comparison to a BM rune Growl. Cleave only hits 2 targets (weak) and Intercept is cute and all but Hunters already get pets that can charge and dash and don’t need a rune for this. And it lacks a fourth ability, a CC ability of some kind. I don’t really see much of a point to the Felguard. The big selling point was ALL talents. Not just Master Demonologist.

The only positive I can see about him and his big stompy boots is that his cleave means that he’ll hit more enemies which means a higher chance for the 5% Grimoire Of Synergy to proc. But that’s about it.

But hey, at least I get to hear STOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMPSTOMP when I’m on a mount.

I guess it’ll take a week or two for the “meta” to come out about him but my suggestions right now from a very first impression kind of a thing is this:

Anguish should do massive threat and taunt like BM rune’s Growl does. it should be able to offtank. Also it is tied directly to Torment’s tier level and talents.
Cleave should hit 3 enemies, not two. 8 sec CD but tied to Lash Of Pain’s tier level and talent benefits.
Then I would give it Blood Pact from Imps as an always on passive.
And the fourth button would be Fel hunters Spell Lock.

Cause otherwise I don’t really see much of a point. It’s not tankier than Voidwalker.
It’s not more utility than Felhunter, Imp or Succubus.
Dunno about the damage yet but it doesn’t seem to be doing massive damage either.
So… Meh?

classic talents are extremally stupid anyway and never will fit to these runes (probably in all class but warlock is extremaly out of logic). They were bad even in normal classic btw. Devs should create totally new ones in phases 4+ and stop this tryharding
