I know there are male monks but did not know there are female monks.
I thought females were called nuns.
In religion yes, but the type of monk that we play has nothing to do with it
There are female monks IRL though, maybe you should have googled this before trying to be edgy on the forums?
Hereâs just a quick example I found without even looking further into it
13th century: The first female Zen master, as well as the first Zen abbess, was the Japanese abbess Mugai Nyodai (born 1223 - died 1298) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mugai_Nyodai
Using wikipedia as a main source is questionable
Cause clearly people are super interested in editing stuff about Mugai Nyodai?
But sure Iâll give you some more links just case you donât seem to believe that one.

Also, all of this googling has actually got me a bit interested
Why you fall to this weekend troll guys âŚ
I mean come on , weâve seen better.
Yay, another inadequate troll thread. What would the weekend be without them.
I knew a female monk who owned a pub once.
It was the best place to hang out- bar nun.
Monks in WoW are fantasy empty hand martial arts aficionados - not celibate priest types of cloister fame (if weâre talking the class you play).
I once knew a female monk of the Christian celibate priest cloister type, she did a lot of charity work and was very well known in a smallish town in the north of England.
not really, itâs pretty decent source of information, generally with added sources so you can even check if its true
I think this resentment towards wikipedia is stupid.
But could she Chi Torpedo?
Sounds like a cool lady
Wikipedia tends to be frowned upon academically as it anyone can edit it but can be used as a search engine just not cited in and of itself. For WoW purposes itâs absolutely fine to use for a source of information as long as people know the information may not be 100% accurate
Deathlord
Necrolord
Highlord
Where is Lady?
The same could be said of any Wiki so whats the point of any of them if its all smoke and mirrors?
As said in the thread already, Female Monks in real life are often referred to as Nuns and theyâre normally kept in separate monasteries to Male Monks. There are some examples in the world where they arenât separated though but that isnât as common. Not all monks (male or female) are part of a monastery that practices martial arts though.
Some religions have female monks as well.
You must be king of random replies!
Youâre looking at it from a Western Christian/Protestant/etc religious way. Their are other monks out there in different cultures which do not adhere to the western religious format.
