It’s time for a full rework of Feral Druid. The spec currently struggles with outdated mechanics, limited utility, and an imbalance in effort . reward. Despite our dedication to mastering this unique playstyle, Feral lacks the viability and impact needed to keep up with other classes.
A rework that addresses our core issues—damage scaling, survivability, and group utility—would allow Feral Druids to feel competitive and rewarding again. Please consider prioritizing a Feral rework to bring our spec up to par and make it enjoyable for players who love the class.
Problem being: Feral has a very small, but divided community.
There are the bite- and bleed-playstyle-players - I am not even starting to talk about the energy situation between “old feral”-feeling and the feral from bfa onwards (even if that one is already six years old).
There are also way more classes with way more players: hunter, paladin, mage, etc.
So Blizzard “has to” (as in: they want to spent as little as possible) use their resources wisely. Naturally as a business they prefer more “bang for their buck” and therefore there are other candidates (like the ones further up), who will get the attention first.
Another problem is: Other classes or specs within classes are WAY, WAY, WAY more vocal than feral. Take mage, hunter or … as funny as it sounds … oomkin as an example. They generate way more traffic and therefore urgency.
(Just look at the druid forums in eu and us - balance all the way down, with a little bit of resto mixed in. Even if a feral-thread pokes it’s head up, the balance-crew will kidnap and derail it within three to five responses within the thread.)
TL;DR: +1 for the effort and it would be HEAVILY required. The numbers for feral are dire - AoE and cleave was never a strong point, but ST was usually solid - at the moment the spec has … nothing.
Both feral and moonkin need a complete rework. Whole class talent tree and also all 4 spec trees must be remade because for class tree to work all iconic spells/talents must move to class talent tree (incarnation, convoke spirits, adaptive swarm, omen of clarity…).
Just look at the Berserk situation… 4-5 talent points spent to make it actually good…
Also please make new cool cat forms, the last ones we got in emerald were crap
and yes a rework would be great for feral.
Keen-eyed Cian crap?
Which world do you live in?
Or is it the plastic eyes?
i still waiting for the black cat what have a witch hat on the head
I would like the Loas as forms. And the Fel themed version of cat etc.
My opinion: Remove moonfire, swarm and thrash.
Go back to pretty much the basic, maybe even removing talons.
Rip + rake should be high dmg bleeds and feriousbite deal high dmg too. Yes! pretty sure you can make both deal nice damage.
They deal nice damage now, you can also choose to not use blood talons and not use swarm as it stands so do that?
Alot of what you have suggested can be made as choices now if you don’t want to do that then that’s on you.
Persoanlly I love blood talons, swarm is a great idea I’d like that kept but I’m sure. Improvements can be made there to make it less annoying to press but I love the theme and idea in general.
As for moonfire you’ll hate me but I like it as a ranged attack but I’m happy for it to be removed as to me makes 0 sense thematically at all on top of being annoying maybe swarm when it’s on CD we can instead of moonfire have a re focus them for a bigger damage over time increase on a single target and if 2 enemies are close after 5s this splits to all nearby enemies.
So replace moonfire button with “swarm comman” or something that could be cool making it more interactive and more focused so we can amp properly in windows like the silence court for example and have them spread reliable to enemies during to add portion perhaps make it so command the sawrm for argument sake has no CD so we can re focus to allies for healing and it will stay on allies until we refocus to enemies? Nature’s vigil buff the healing during said window as well could be cool loose moonfire and as just swarm go be cool.
Rake… Yeh increase it and rip in general we defo need some help but not as much as people think I don’t beleive in keys we are super tanky and have amazing dps not. Meta I know I don’t care about meta but feral has the tools for sure.
Sounds like you want the more st build of use shred bleeds and bite… Bud exits and is actually rank 1 for feral St dps take a gander at it
Edit: primal wrath needs to be baseline also why it’s not is beyond me entirely
I would like to play a melee druid spec, but feral feels like a vestige of time, a true artifact (like the ones we sacrificed; entirely impotent), but since the community which already plays it apparently insist on keep it that way, we have a deadlock situation here.
The feral community is very vocal imho, when it comes to shutting down any efforts which would make the spec more in line with modern WoW.
Hence, ppl play balance rather and forget feral even exists.
Literally just play Rogue then, 7 combo points and 300 energy
To me anyway, I am content with a tank spec and a range dps spec.
I just said, that I would be interested in at least trying out a melee druid in general if it was actually up to the standards defined by practically every single other spec in this game.
I dont think ctrl cving a rouge would be the only way to implement this.
(
btw a guildie recently leveled up a druid and insisted on playing feral, but then he leveled up his rouge as well and the first thing he said for assa: this is so much better than feral…
and that is from someone who used to main feral from classic to cata.
)
This is the reason why to me and to numerous others (whom the post I replied to mention) a dps druid means Balance.
Feral just exists.
Yes feral is not new player friendly you need weakauras to track snapshots and bleeds and buffs. Playing feral with base UI is basically unplayable and i think that trips up a lot of new feral players. Also having like zero stats starting off doesn’t help. Having a decent amount of crit and haste makes a decent amount of difference energy wise, so if you’re playing feral with blue gear straight from levelling to 80 then its not a fair evaluation to say the spec sucks because I have no energy. Its not a spec like paladin that you can just hop into a raid/key and do top damage without knowing a lot about the spec. The spec doesn’t need “modernisings” its blizzards ui that needs modernising for feral. Ferals only problem is its lack of burst aoe damage which has been a problem for a while now that the devs don’t seem to won’t to address the raid only exemplifies this issue with 6/8 bosses having some form of burst aoe. It just takes to long for us to do any sort of meaningful aoe damage, 4 globals to put out a primal wrath which only gets like 3 rip ticks before the adds dies is yikes.
You… dont really NEED weakauras to keep track of them tbh.
Especially now, you dont NEED to skill into bloodtalons or swarm.
Is it tiresome? Yes, incredibly so. DO they help? Oh yes, they do. But I played keys at +10 for example without weakauras and did good damage (solid 2. place without too much of a climb to the 1. place).
I do agree on the burst AoE problem, which would be quickly fixed, if our aoe builders would scale with targets hit. Like, say that Thrash or Swipe gave an additional 2 combo points, if they hit more than 3 targets.
If they even just brought back Tiger’s Fury resets the spec would feel so much better and smoother.
yeah Need new cool cat form like claws of shirvallah
The weakauras not really for bloodtalons of swarm although it does benefit them. It’s mostly to keep track of snapshots which are an important part of our damage especially for single target, aoe too with primal wrath/rip snapshot.
Also Thrash and swipe pretty much already do that, if your using swipe on more than 1 target and if that swipe/thrash crits on any of the targets hit you gain two combo points as per primal fury. Unless youre suggesting they give 2 cp baseline and 3cp when critting which would mean it would be basically impossible to generate bloodtalons first without overcapping combo points which is a bad thing.
